  1. On the sample hand where you are holding a diamond stack - you should judge between pass and 3N, this depends on partners tendences to reopen and how light are his doubles - you should know that better than me.
  2. phoenix214 - M1cha: 35-17 link: http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:52f826c0.84c3.11e6.8e99.0cc47a39aeb4-1474988512&u=phoenix214
  3. [hv=pc=n&n=s96hat94djt86432c&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1c1s2d(NFB)dr2sppdp]133|200[/hv] What is going on? What do we plan to do. Scoring is Cross IMP We are playing 2/1.
  4. Doh, have not been on the forums for a while - just noticed that the challange match had been going on for a while and sadly as my opp as well had not noticed I did not see any challange notifications on bbo - doh Anyhow good luck to all the players still alive.
  5. I would like to join as well. As for format hardest format is no best hand mp, while the easiest to play is best hand imp. I would prefer the harder one.
  6. If you are playing in a club, then it is fine, in my opinion. It is not like you are in a tournament where you have to win at all costs. If you play in a tournament/team match, it would be a bit different. + what fun is there to get lots of imps in a club, because your opponents have a silly transfer/rkcb misunderstanding?
  7. I think, the most pratical bid with your hand is 6 spades. Obviously sometimes you have 7, and sometimes you go down in 6. But on average id assume partner has 12-14 balance, while we have an 18 count, with a known 9 card fit. The gain by blasting is that, even if we are missing HAK, opps might decide to lead a club, and we could pitch our H losers on diamonds. Obviously there are more scientific ways to bid the hand, but currently I would not worry about them too much.
  8. I have played transfer jump shifts over 1 club opening, the basic idea is just that you can combine the weak jump shift which is an one bid hand, with some stronger two bid hands. The bigger advantage is that it feels like the auction is more simple(to show some specific hand you take 2 bids, instead 3-4), which might be a gain in some partnerships. In expert partnerships where memory is not an issue, you just gain way more space, so you can differentiate some features in hand. For example. 1C-1H, 1N-3H is Slam try with 1 loser in H 1C-2D, 2H-3H is Slam try with 0 loser in H
  9. I am definetly raising hearts, how do I raise depends on style, but with this strength, the main feature of my hand is the heart fit, and I have an one bid hand.
  10. I like the idea behind 2N, as you have 8 tricks in hand, missing a stop in diamond, so it might be a good spot. But basically Zel covers the most of the points. Open 1H or if you can show an 8 trick playing hand via the methods you have. A simple auction could be like 1H-1N, 3N/4H, or 1H-2H, 4H.
  11. The 1D is a mess, if you play it as 11-15 balanced. Hard to figure out when to invite and when to not - you will land too much in 2N if you play standard methods. In that case you could try 1H as some sort of range ask.
  12. This is a hand, I might not move over a mixed raise even, so imo pass is clear.
  13. Me and Nullve completed our match: 2x16 MP withouth best hand: My play was quite bad: Good luck to Nullve in the next round: http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:a088466b.3a07.11e6.a318.0cc47a39aeb4-1466771511&u=phoenix214 37.5% to 62.5% http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:0f830e18.3bb3.11e6.a318.0cc47a39aeb4-1466955092&u=phoenix214 31.25% to 68.75% Im somewhat annoyed on the second match on board 15 - where the auction goes 1S-4S: Having Axxxx;AKTx;x:AKx decided to risk 6S. GIB leads HQ, partner flips with KJxxx;xxxx;Axx;xx. So it looks quite good - i play low and bam SPADE.
  14. Second match between me and Phil 26-25 in favor of Phil - overall quite close. both of us pushed once quite a bit too much and ended up with a big swing otherwise lots of lost tricks by either of us in partscores. Also got endplayed once by Gib - Decided to open 1D on a 4333 count - gib bids 3D on a 6D 9count with side AQ. Since the bid is a preempt, I have no extras so pass. OT obvious 3N which makes.
  15. I forgot about alex at that point in time - I think it is a cool brawl still - just make it so that Alex does not exist in it :P
  16. I think pass instead of 2H is correct - usually this type of hand feels a bit too weak - although showing support is good. Over X i have quite more so 3D seems spot on
  17. For anyone trying to play Tavern Brawl - priest is the bomb. So many good cards to use - Mindgames, thoughsteal, Lightbomb, Convert?? And the games are quite fast
  18. That set was somewhat crazy - I have not gone done in so many game to be honest. I guess I was bidding them a bit too much.
  19. I think hrothgar intended you to play 2nd round robin
  20. phoenix214 - Kuhchung: Match 1: http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:8e49c077.2b4d.11e6.a318.0cc47a39aeb4-1465152278&u=phoenix214: 59.38% to 40.62% in favor of phoenix214 Match 2: http://webutil.bridgebase.com/v2/tview.php?t=ARDCHALLENGE:6bce267e.2c4c.11e6.a318.0cc47a39aeb4-1465261741&u=phoenix214: 56.25% to 43.75% in favor of Kuhchung Were planning to do 3 as well but Kuhchung did time out so we played 2x16.
  21. Win three rounds of clubs, discarding the diamond loser and hoping for Ax in H onside.
  22. If you are playing weak jump shift or inv jump shift you can diffrentate between 5 and 6 and stay at level 2.
