  1. Kinda hard to say, maybe North bid 6http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif because he is afraid his pd might get confused and also to make sure he gets to play the hand since he plays em much better then the beginner :D . Even beginners have heard of the rule of 20, so saying South is the expert because of that, doesn't convince me yet. I don't think a beginner would have bid 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif especially not 6http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif. So I will say West is an expert, and as for N/S I am sure that an expert will do something smart :D over 6http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif and I don't think X qualifies as smart, but he does not have many options, maybe 6 NT, but he opts to go for the for sure +. Therefore I will say that North is the other expert. But I would not bet a lot of money on the last part. ;) Mike :D
  2. A nice way to find out what kind of 2 NT pd has after opening 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif is, Kokish. 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif - 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif( almost forced, any other bid shows slaminterest ) 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif - 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif ( forced ) 2 NT = 25-26 and if you bid 2 NT directly, it shows 23-24. Or however you want to set up your point count. And 3 NT after 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif shows 27+, but that hand you will not get very often ;) And after 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif if you bid another suit you are showing a 2 suited GF hand. Works real handy. Mike :D
  3. If you put your Kof http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif stiff and played towards it, I am fairly sure decent opps will play the Ace of http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif. By playing 4 http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif's you did squeeze though. But not the kind of squeeze you probably want ;) a declarer squeeze. But opps do sometimes make mistakes and we all get lucky sometimes :D Mike :D
  4. I'll try to make it easier for you next time I write something hehehe. Mike ;)
  5. Well South is to blame. I myself wud have bid 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif, y have a great hand. 4 trump, singleton and 3 Quicktricks with first round control in 2 suits. 4http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif is so horrible that I am almost ;) speechless. But by far the worst bid ever is X of 4http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif. Really speechless........................................... Mike :D still speechless.................................................
  6. I am not familar with the firebird browser, so I will give the auction like this. 1 H - 1 SP - p - p - X - p - r bid Mike ;)
  7. When not told it is always equal. Mike ;)
  8. http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif J9842 All Vul, IMP's http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif xx http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif x http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif KQ876 1http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif - 1http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif- P - P X - P - r bid Mike ;)
  9. http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif Kxx http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif AKQx http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif AKQ10x http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif x What wud y open playing 2/1, and why ? Mike ;)
  10. Yeah, some sort of Flannery. I played something similar to it. 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif showing 5http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif and 4http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif and also 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif as 5-5 in majors, both showing about 4-7 HCP, mostly concentrated in both majors. Works well, will start playing it again. Thx to Misho :D Mike ;)
  11. Sometimes these preempts work :D But r pd had absolute perfect hand for you, don't get use to it, it will not happen again for a very long time :D Mike B)
  12. I never called anybody names :D He has his opinion and I have mine. Then there is the ACBL, which I think we both don't agree with in a lot of ways. But they do make the rules. And just take my word for it, if y play tournaments down here in ACBL land and y do stuff like that, you will not win when director has been called to table. Maybe they'll let it slide first time, but after that y won't for sure. Y can't even play multi here( unless in topbracket and then y have to have complete defense for opps who can refer to it during bidding and taking away all the good stuff from multi ) or canape overcalls or all kinds of cool stuff. Believe me I found out the hard way, actually a few times hehehehe B) It's like opening 2 CL, with a GF hand. you hold AKQJ1098765432 void void void looks GF to me ;) But y can't open it 2 CL, not that y wud, everybody will probably just open 7 SP, but for argument sake, y open 2 CL, and get to 7 SP and opps X with 3 aces or so. They call director, and y lose. Why ???? you ask, well y need to have 16 HCP or more to open 2 CL and y can argue till r blue in the face and throw it in front of all commitees, y will not win. No matter what kind of way y use to get to 16 points in r eyes. Mike :D
  13. Yup too weak, there are way too many points outstanding, this is not going to get passed out. You will give pd false hope if y bid 3 Cl directly and he/she has nice hand. When r pd does something now y r very happy and so will pd. And as for the leaping Micheals, I play that GF or very close to it, preempting over a preempt ;) with leaping micheals mite be someones style but not mine. Mike :D
  14. Pass and my next bid going to be some number, either 1 or 2, of NT. Showing Minors. ;) Mike :D
  15. So you hold S – K7643 H – A954 D – 4 C – A83 And open 1 Spade in 2nd seat!! Playing 2/1, partner bids 2D holding S – J85 H – K63 D – KQJ98 C – K4 You will end up in 4S, one trick (at least) too high Or partner might bid 2C with S – A82 H – Q3 D – QJ5 C – KT932 Once again, one trick too high. In my 2/1 the hand will respond 1 NT forcing with that crappy hand. And after any response it bids 3 sp showing a Limit raise with 3 Spades. And that will be the end of the bidding. 3 SP making. Mike :D Oops I missed the Jack of D ;) Well then a 2/1 response has to be made and the opener has to, at least in my 2/1 system, bid 2 SP. Now you'll end up in 4 SP. But that is not down yet. Even tho it is not looking good, but if spades is played for 2 losers you'll bring this home. Not against all chances Mike :D
  16. I think personally that if y have 13, y have to open 1 NT if playing 12-14, I think only time hand evaluation comes in view is when y have a 12 count and try to decide if y wanna open it 1NT. Same with a 14 count that maybe looks a lot better and y wanna treat as an 15 count, but if y start passing 13 counts, trying to figure what pd needs to be able to make 1 NT, y taking everything away from the weak NT. Weak NT is used a lot as some sort of preemptive action to make it harder for opps to find out what is going on, and also for pd to know what y have. If y open 1 NT with that hand and later on in auction pd is asking y to bid game with max and pass with minimum so can decide to downgrade the hand to a minimum. One thing about bridge is to have a pd who needs to know what y do, and opening 1 hand while not opening another is not a good way of doing that. And who was that person who said that Aces and Kings are for suit contracts and Queens and Jacks are good for NT ? ;) Mike :D
  17. Hehe I can't resist, since it looks like r counting ain't r strongest point I can see why y have to refer to other measures hehehe ;) But if y have a very bad 12 count like y gave me I can see why maybe some wanna pass, same as why y wanna open a good 11 count in a 12-14 NT. Same as why people open 14 counts as 15-17 count. But 13 is in a 12-14 NT just as is 16 in a 15-17 NT, and it is not like having a bad 12 count or a good 12 count. Y mite be able to defend why y didn't open a 12 count, I will never see why I guess, but passing a 13 count will be too much too defend if playing wk NT's. And y r rite I am not that experienced, won only 50+ blue ribbons in just over 3 years, really sucks  Mike :o
  18. Actually on this hand it really matters if it is MP's or IMP's since if it was Imps it doesn't really matter, overtrick or not, y r talking about a very very small imps difference something like 0.01, maybe little more or little less depending on amount of players. In MP's ofcourse it mite be differerence between a 65% and a 100%, roughly  Mike ;)
  19. Shud ing pizza or beer ? :o Mike :D
  20. Thx Luis  That was basically the point I was trying to make. Mike ;)
  21. So with other words if y have a 9 count that somehow, according to whatever rules y use, upgrade to let's say 12 count Y can open 1 NT, still playing a 12-14 NT ? I know y can't and if y do and y get caught ;) Then I feel for you. According to r time y post this it looks like y are somewhere in Europe, where things are a little bit more open. But here in ACBL land they very seriously frown upon stuff like that. And another point is why even play weak NT if y are going to open only selected hands, if y play 12-14 NT and y have a 13 count and y can't or won't open 1NT why even play it? If somebody has a 12 count and AKQJxx(x) in a suit, most likely a minor, and they open 1 NT (15-17 ). How come that is qualified as a psych ? Surely it must upgrade to a 15 count in some way or another, Mike :o
  22. I am here a lot, just ask around ;) Some days I play a lot of hands, by playing tourneys and just regular play, sometimes over 100 hands, then next few days I mite just run a few tournaments and maybe only play 20 hands or so. Some people come here to watch other players play, get lessons, watch vu-graph and mite not play at all or very few hands. So I think it is hard to say what or who average players are. Hopefully most of us still have a life and do other things then just play bridge  During summer months I will not nearly be here as much since golfing and sailing are just as big to me as bridge. :o Mike :D
  23. I run my tourneys as Zero Tolerance and put that down so everybody that enters my tourney knows about it, and for the few that can't read, I also say it at beginning of tourney. And I will boot them, we r all trying to have good time playing this game and we don't need some selfcentered "worldclass" beginner putting people down to make him/herself feel better. Mike ;)
  24. Poblem I have is that when i doing something, and someones asks me to play and I hit enterbutton I am connected to that person as my pd even if I Didn't want too. So now I have to go unregister, maybe make it a little harder to get paired up ? Mike
