  1. Start simple with Stayman, Transfers and some treatment against Opps opening NT, something like Cappeletti or Don't. And then as time goes by and y get used to these systems add some more like maybe Drury, Lebensohl etc. Y can make a system as simple or complex as y want, but complex systems are only good if y know how to defend and be a good cardplayer. So try to become a cardplayer first before y start to get to involved in complex systems ;) Mike ;D
  2. playing kickback, 4H in the sequence shown is rkc for diamonds, which is why some play minorwood instead.. My sentiment exactly, Kickback get's to confusing. I have decided after playing against some people for a few times that played kickback and always got to wrong slam I better not play Kickback. Mike ;D
  3. Back in the Olden days when I was still playing in Europe, that was the way to go. Now that I play in USA Mutli and a lot of the other good stuff basically has been prohibited unless y play in certain tournaments. Y really can't practice anywhere but online to play this. SO I just, for now, converted back to just plain weak 2's. But I'll be BACK :). Mike ;D
  4. Some 22 counts look like a 20 count some 19 counts look like a 21 count. I play my 2 NT opening as good 19 - bad 22. Never gotten me in trouble yet. Playing solid bridge is nice but bridge is a game of judgement. There always will be hands that don't fit a certain bid prefectly, that's why we r always here discussing stuff :) That's what I am thinking about it. Thx Mike ;D
  5. More food for Thought. Personally I like the Duboin-Bocchi way the best. It seems not all that complicated and it must work since their record proves that. Only problem y mite run into is that y need to stick with very few pd's. But if that's what r planning on doing y mite as well go into Meckwell precision or keylime. Thing I think is a waste of time is people trying to play part of a system and after the rebid kinda gamble their way in a game. Either play the system or don't, beating up on little old ladies with a system they a scared of is sick >:) Come and get me ;D I will be ready hehehe
  6. ;D I knew I cud count on y guys. Thx Mike ;D
  7. Hi, I have question for all y people out there. Does anybody have the Meckwell defense against strong and weak NT laying around ? And r y able to either e-mail it to me or post it here ? Thx Mike ;D
  8. Hi, I myself play variable 1 NT: NV 10-12 except 4th seat when it is 12-14, and Vul I play 12-14. When NV I open a suit and rebid NT it show 13-16, and when Vul it shows 15-17. After the 1 NT rebid I play 2 way NMF were 2 Cl is for all Invitational bids while the 2 D is 100% GF. Biggest thing y need to think about after opening weak NT is to make sure y have a runout system when Opps start X for penalty. I like to play Guaba, I think that's what is is called, not sure tho. It is simple after the penalty X, if y bid a suit directly is shows that suit and next higher, if y pass and opp passes pd has to reX, if y now bid a suit y have that suit and none touching suit, but y can also pass the reX to let pd know opps made a mistake. Or if y ReX directly y have single suited hand. Love the Weak NT Mike ;D
  9. And I don't like to give up 2 NT as a natural bid, and since most systems nowadays r based on either Major suit games or NT I think I rather give up the 2 D bid ( 2 times ) and 2 H bid ( 1 time ) . But everybody has his own style :) Thx Mike ;D
  10. But if I knew how to type I ment 1 SP- 4 CL, but still it takes up a lot of room, and I am missing out on my Regular splinterbid. If I am 5-5 in Sp and Cl then I also have shortness somewhere. Depends on style but I prefer to show my shortness and trump support in 1 bid and have opps figure out what my 2 nd suit is. I like to use a bid if it is used on % base and splinters just pop up more then 5-5 hands, especially where 1 of the 5 cards has to be in pd's opening suit :) Thx Mike ;D
  11. Just to make sure I get this rite. 1 SP- 3 CL = 5 Clubs + 5 Spades ? That doesn't seem like a hand that happens very often ? Or maybe I am seeying this wrong :) that has happened on occasion ;D Thx Mike ;D
  12. And as long as we are on the subject. How do we feel about Bergen/ minisplinters after opps TO double and overcall ? Personally I love it, since the pressure it puts on the opps, and the info pd gets and all that with the price of 1 bid :) Can't wait for reactions on this ;D Thx Mike ;D
  13. I still play double jumpshifts as regular Splinters, and triple Jumpshifts as Exclusion RKC. I am actually trying to find a place for the 15+ Splinter. Maybe I shud just make my minisplinter as a 2 way Splinter, either 6-9 or 15 +. Any ideas out there ? Thx Mike ;D
  14. Thx Ben ;D that looks like it mite work, so it is kinda like having a private club, a SAYC club, where all the members can play, or least copy the SAYC CC. Will look into it. Thx Mike ;D
  15. I was wondering if it was possible to bar certain spectators while others can still spec, kinda having an enemie spec list ? Maybe something for Uday to look into ? Thx Mike ;D
  16. I was wondering if it was possible if I could run a tournament where everybody is playing same system. SAYC is coming to my mind, but my question is if I can post a CC that everyone can view, on every table ? Kinda like the Individual tournament ACBL is running? Would really like to get some input on this :) Thx Mike ;D
  17. Thx Wayne, that's how I play it 1 H -2 Sp is minisplinter with me, whereas 2 NT after major suit opening is 4 Card Limit or better. ;D I enjoy playing it like that. Thx Mike ;D
  18. thx Wayne ;D but were does the maxi splinter go ?In the 2 steps above ? I guess it does, since other options don't seem rite. And with the mini splinter after y open 1 Sp and pd bids 3 Cl showing a minisplinter, y r already at 4 level if pd had singl Cl. 1 Sp-3Cl-3D ( relay)-3H= singl H 3Sp= Singl D 4Cl= singl Cl Unless I am missing something, I have to go digging in my Garazzo notes. Thx Mike ;D
  19. THX, that sure seems like a fairly simple but good system. And y r rite, there is a structure to it. Will have a deeper look at it. Thx Mike ;D
  20. Thx Dwayne ;) , Can y e-mail it to me ? And where did y find it ? Thx Mike ;D
  21. Got some info about the ROMEX major suit raise? I think I played them when I was about 15 years old but that was 20 years ago hehe, my memory not so good ;) Thx Mike ;D
  22. Which one do you prefer ? I Love the minisplinters myself, with 3 Cl as an use all bid, either some sort of Bergen Raise or a Cl mini splinter. Anybody has some ideas, to fit in 2 /1 system? Thx Mike ;D
  23. Hi Misho, thx for pointing that out I didn't read that. Seems we have the same Ideas ;) Mike
  24. ;D Wow that sure is long but looks very nice. Does it work very well in the real bridge World ? Or do mistakes happens because it is so long ? And people forget? Unless y play that with same pd for long time, but is ure looks good ;) I already printed it out. Thx for r response 8)
  25. Yes, I think it Bocchi- Duboin, but like you, not sure. I hope y can help me, since I wud like to play it or at least try. ;D
