Not sure if I am doing anything wrong but it's not working. I am able to create the id but after I log off I can no longer log back in. As I said, my old id still works fine, it's just the new ones that don't work.
-
The "internal server error" is solid now for any newly created userid. The id I created months ago works fine but apparently no new userids will work so I don't have anyone to bid with. Even new userids which i create myself are not able to log in. Any ideas? I really like this site and want to be able to use it with partners. Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there is an error in the application.

Unlike you, I don't have to pretend. I was winning regional tournaments before you were born. The scoring was IMPs. BTW, take the time to read your signature and apply it to your answer for IMPs.

[hv=pc=n&n=st9h965dkqtckq643&d=s&v=n&b=15&a=1s2h]133|200[/hv] What are your further plans (if any)?

5D, I've shown my hand, the CQ is a nice card but how can I bid more with no spade control? Why didn't pd just bid 4C? There must be a reason but I don't what it is.
-
I like it! There must be more of these treatments out there. When I was in college a good friend of mine and his girlfriend played the 'insult cue bid'. It occurred when the opponents cue bid her suit and she cue bid theirs in return. It would be alerted and explained as "She feels insulted that you bid her suit so she bid yours." I don't think they invented it but it was part of their arsenal. Does anyone else know any?

I think the obvious intent was to post an interesting double dummy problem, which this was... Wow! Over 10000 posts! Do you stop to eat?

I get another partner, there is no such bid.
-
I upgrade a lot but very seldom downgrade because i hate losing game swings. This is not a great 18 but it's still 18 and I refuse to mastermind. The problem here is not how good my hand is but whether pd has Txx of spades or has 5+ hearts or not. Had I known how the bidding would proceed I might have opened 1NT but then I would have been prepared to apologize when it went wrong. Had the opps kept quiet you would not have had a problem with opening 1m instead of 1NT.

[hv=pc=n&s=sajhakjdqt75cqj76&d=e&v=e&b=6&a=p1cp1h1sdp2h2s]133|200[/hv] IMPs What is your call? You may or may not agree with opening 1C but you are stuck with it.
-
Sorry, it's IMPs

I think it matters how many bids you think you can take. If I think I will only have one opportunity to bid I would double.
-
1. 4+ trumps, singleton or void, enough to force to game... 2 & 3. You play cues show cheapest 1st or 2nd round control but of course the 5H bid shows 1st
-
Are you saying that you agree with the pass over 3D? And now you want to punish your partner for the second double? Do you really think the double is based on defensive cards? Your partner is contracting for the 3 level as a passed hand opposite a passed hand. I would expect some distribution and playing strength and very little defense. Passing is a good way to ensure that he/she never plays with you again. (and that would probably be a very good decision on his/her part)
-
Why didn't I make a responsive double of 3♦? At IMPs I wouldn't now pass for a 1 trick set when partner can be 54 in the majors. Even at MPs it would be very risky. Partner made a takeout double and doesn't expect to ever be passed on this auction. 3H I will now let mikeh drone on about whatever.
-
I think u r correct Mike but u r stuck with the auction as given. Your call...

I think it depends on the person calling it a no-brainer.
-
He would probably play the Preemptive Strike system and it would work a lot better than the Obama System, which is "Wait until the opponents find their best spot and then sacrifice", and has never won an international match.
-
See Mike777's response, there are lots of ways to work this out. There is no law that says you HAVE to bid 3NT at your second turn but when you do respond 1NT first partner knows you are balanced, no good 5 card suit.
-
I thought the opener was a little too good for a 4S rebid but the alternatives weren't great. 3D followed by 4S, which is what I bid, is about right on strength but implies club shortness, not to mention that it shows a better suit (:)).. Maybe a 4D splinter is better but it is still an underbid. The keys to the hand were responder's fifth spade and 1st round club control.
-
I don't know why you say that. I don't have to guess whether responder really has a suit for his/her 2/1 which makes it much easier to get to many slams and the balanced hands usually take care of themselves as long as you're not afraid to make mild slam tries below the game level.
-
I don't know of anyone who plays the 2S bid there as GF. Just forcing 1 round like sayc (ugh!)
-
I like 2C to show a suit also and haven't yet had a problem with the following responses: 1M - 3NT = balanced 3 card raise 13-15 no 5 card suit worth mentioning, rarely if ever passed. Denies 4+ spades over 1H 1M - 1NT 2x - 3NT = 13-15 balanced w/o support for M 1H - 2S = 4+ spades, 3 card H support, GF You can use your own relays for more information, I use 2NT to find out how many spades but I'm sure there are better ways Now you never have to manufacture a 2/1 response to a major.
