  1. Hello Dan, welcome to the Bridgebase online forums!
  2. Edmunte1

    umm ?

    I'll try 4NT, followed by 5♥
  3. My choices were x, x, x. On first two this was the winning call as long as partner held: 1. Kxxx xx KQ10xx xx 2. xx xxxxxx AQx xx On third i doubled and partner bid 3♠. Do you raise?
  4. You're South on next 3 hands and it's your time to bid. 1.[hv=d=n&v=b&s=sxhakxdjxxxcaxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP pass -(1♠)-?[/hv] 2.[hv=d=n&v=b&s=sxhakxdjxxxcaxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP pass -(1♠)-?[/hv] 3.[hv=d=n&v=b&s=sxhakxdjxxxcaxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP pass -(1♠)-?[/hv] Do you have 3 obvious choices, or do you have different thoughts?
  5. -I think your partner should have started with 3♦ instead of 3♥ 1♣-1♦ 3♣-3♦ 4♦-4♥ 5♠(exc)-7♦ -Over 4♦ he had an easy 4♥ bid too
  6. If trumps are 1-1 we have a safety play as Ben explained. If trumps are 2-2, there are 2 lines: -Ben's line, with ruffing 2 round of ♦ before playing ♣ finesse -Phil'l line with ruffing one round of ♦ before playing ♣ finesse Except the double finesse working (75%), the first line will win when: -♦'s are 3W-5E =23.5% -♦ are 2W-6E =8.5% -♦ are 1W-7E=1.45% -East has bold K in ♦=0.2% -East has Kx in ♦=4.28% -East has Kxx in ♦=8.83% for a total of 46.76%. So the total chance of that line is 86.7% The second line will win when: -West has♦K =50% -♦ are 2W-6E =8.5% -♦ are 1W-7E=1.45% -East has bold K in ♦=0.2% -East has Kx in ♦=4.28% for a total of 64.43%. So the total chance of this line is 91.11% So Phil line wins (I hope my numbers are corect)
  7. Pass, our suits have such poor interior (intermediattes)
  8. Yes, 5♦, not close for me.
  9. Yes, i realised after i posted (i should stop posting after 1 a.m. :D ) that i missed many other chances like: -Partner has ♠10 and ♠J doubleton or singleton (around 13%) - Partner has ♥9 and ♥10 is falling (around 11%) - Hearts are 4-2 and East has Ax in hearts (around 8%) - Some squeeze chances if West has Ax in hearts and East has 4♥ and ♦A (around 4%) So the slam is playable
  10. This slam demands usually 3 out of 3 small important cards (♥10, ♠J, ♣J) in partner's hand to be a good one. Some numbers: - Partner will have ♠J in 4/10 cases (40%) or we need the suit to be 3-3, for a total of 60% chance -Partner will have ♥10 in 3/9 cases (33%) or we need the suit to break 3-3 for a total of 55% chance -Partner will have ♣J in 3/8 cases (37,5%) or we need the suit to break 3-2 for a total of 80% chances It depends a lot of your opening style. -If you open usually with 11+ hcp, the slam will be a 55% affair -If you open usually with 10+ hcp with this shape it will be something like ((55% x 80%) +(55% x60%))/2 =38.5%
  11. Pass and 3♥ seems pretty normal, if you still have space left
  12. I will double, asking partner to lead worse major. Double has more ways to win than to lose. Of course sometimes you'll be punished.
  13. I don't like playing 3♣ as GF, but agree with 2♣. 4♠ should show this shapely hand now
  14. Double, the hand is too good for a direct 4♥.
  15. I think that 2♥ could be a better contract sometimes, but with only 2 controls and so many quacks game is rather improbable
  16. I won't open 2♥ Muiderberg, even if i'm playing it, i think 5♥+7♦ it's not a Muiderberg hand.
  17. 7♦ is obvious, partner must have ♠K+♦AK+♣A for his bid.
  18. Option 1, but i know good players that prefer 2
  19. IMP's, you hold one first seat[hv=d=s&v=e&s=shq1076daqj652c1083]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] and the bidding goes pass -(1♠) -pass -(2NT!)- ? 2NT=inv+ with 4+ trumps What's your choice now?
