  1. Could 2♦just been natural  , lets hope not otherwise we r heading into big troubles. But if u want to bid something natural, how about 4♣after prd bids 3♥. I cant know what prd is up to, otherwise that GF is on; so bidding my suits in order ♥-♣-♥-♣i could try to pin point 6-5 shape in my hand and try help that poor bastards agony in decision making prosess. Oh that 4♣is just a cue, well maybe, but when prd tries to figure out what i have in my hand he could start with elimination prosess like...no 3♠bid with doubleton, hmm maybe prd has less than 2 ♠and one more ♣in his hand B-) .
  2. Depends on u agreements IMO. Unless there is another agreement though i would take it as bid u major prd, i could be dbling with K less in my hand from balancing seat over a 1 C.
  3. If i have to humor u in every aspect, then no i dont find any better use for 2Nt than 8-10 bal. hand. I do have a succestion though; natural 3 level response can be quite destructive so i have used this xfer method where 2Nt is xfer to ♣and 3♣is xfer to ♦ continues u can choose by u self ( accept xfer promises or denies something and so on). 3D promises some HHJxxx suit and 3H promises some AKQxxx suit.
  4. If my hand is ♠KQxxx,♥xxx,♦KQJxxx, i must bid 3♣and deny decent opening hand instead 4♣which promises void and decent opening hand. After 3♣prd can ask my shortness with 3♦bid and now i can tell shortness in ♣ by bidding 3Nt. After that start he probaply would not take us higher than 4♠. And yes KOJxx, xxxx, AQxx is opening hand in our system. Bidding goes on as above. What comes to u last 2 hand examples gnasher yes then bidding goes to slam im afraid, but nobodys prefect at least not us  . After prds 4♦cue bid i cant do anything else than bid 4♠with 3 losers in ♥.
  5. U open 1♣and partner responds 1♦; next round u bid 1♥and partner bids 1♠; what does partners bid 1♠means? System is SAYC and u prd is Expert at profile and my guess is that so r u B-)
  6. My first guess, is that prd woke up and made delayed pre-empt, its the simplest and most probaple explenation at least with my regular prd B-) . If i have to assume that prd is doing something clever ( oh god), i would put my money for a major two suiter. He saw the xfer and decide to wait a round to see if anything exiting would happen... nope so 3♠.
  7. We would have avoided Cherdanos faith just for systemic reasons  . South opens 1♠and now north has to bid 2Nt ( ♠ support and limit raise or better) we play void spilinters. Now souths systemic bid is 4♣ promising void. Norths 4♦ promises cue which south will guess to be a singleton B-) . After that souths breaking attempt 4♠( denying ♥control ) is wasted energy. Prd blasts the blackwood cannon and we end up in 6♠.
  8. Im still prepared to defend 3♠bid here. First i dont know who the hand belongs to, and now when prd thinks wheter to use axe or compete to 5 level it helps or maybe ease up the route to slam. 4♥shows something else and promises couple of ♠IMO. 2♠promises much more hcp. than i have.
  9. Open 1D - 2C 2D - 3D if thats forcing in u sys or 3H( jump aka cue as ♦trumps) 3S - 4C both cues 4H - 4Nt 4H cue and now shortness(bid S first) 4Nt RKCB 5D - 6D 5D 1/5 aces 6D final contract( its pretty obvious which high cards prd have)
  10. I would take it as natural 15-18 hcp. and balanced ( or something like that). With decent hand and ♥+ ♣ in u hand u can dbl and with very good or weird hand u can always bid 3♠.
  11. U prds bidding is questionable at least with 15 hcp. Q doubleton and single K hand is not worth reverse IMO, wheter he otherwise bid correctly according ACOL i dont know. But back to u, 1S was right what else 2C would have been way too much. After prds response 2H u r bit awkwardly placed here, basicly u shld bid game not a partscore, prd has reversed and u have 2 aces. On the other hand the old saying of how u bid misfits...DONT applies here quite well, u dont have that much more over u minimum to respond 1S so i would have bid 2NT...break up a bit since i have no support to prds suits. 3C is GF and bit rich here, but not much after all prd may have a true reverse. I dont know what would have happend next, prd may not bid 3S since u deny 5 card suit by not rebidding them, but he will bid 3H and u? Are u any happier in 5D?
  12. Its not yet quite clear who has the highest contract here, but my guess is that who ever has it its going to be higher than 3 level. So i might just as well make two things clear to my prd 1) i have ♥support and 2) i have no ♠ by biddig 3♠. At least now i know that when he dbls 4♠ he/she knows i dont have any trump tricks.
  13. I dont understand two things; why dont u trust u prd, who else r u going to trust after all prd is the only guy in the table that even pretends to be on u side. But ok if u want my lottery guess its 6D, its better than 6Nt if prd is flat minimum and its not so much worse than 3Nt than it shld not be tried in matchpoints. Thats what im going to say to prd when he asks me wheter im drunk or mad after the board. And the second thing i dont understand; who can u assume that prd can have 4S cards in this auction. At least not here in Finland nor anywhere else in Scandinavia.
  14. Ok why did i opened 1♦,and why opening 1 Nt would be absurd will remain as mystery to me for the rest of my life. Maybe i should cut down drinking in either not to open 1 ♦with this hand anymore or to understand the absurdity of Nt opening. What to do now...well i have denied balanced 15-17 hcp. hand so im not going to try to introduce such hand to my prd. Do we have a slam in ♦...opps that train has already left and since prd probaply have couple of clubs it can start with club to the ace and club ruff. Ill pass and wait my prds double, if that is what he do.After my prd bids 3♦ or 3 ♥as a cue bid i bid 3Nt. What do i do after 3S cue bid, that is not going to happen i hope.
  15. If i am going to bid anything... lets say yes; its 4♠. And why, because prd leaves it in with as little as 2 trump tricks and my hand represent 1 trick in defence.
  16. Eau de Cologne...4711 and all 4 points though they r concentrate in my long suits; these r the places heros r made huh B-) . Im old so i wont psyche, after all only thing i could bid in that purpose is NT and all too often prd doubles or redoubles everything that moves, so ♥it is some ten years ago at 4 level now only 3. After that i concentrate to polish my nails or to my beer unless prd bid clubs. Best players in the club against u...well life is hell, why make it any worse than it already is.
  17. This could have been a great result in pairs where prd usually comes in with 13 cards in his hand...teams its bit greedy. Im going to make Nt in some level... lets say at least 2 level, i would have bid 2♦ and hope that prd wont pass it  . then in his probable 2 of major i bid 3♣, which got to be forcing...wishful thinking, well a Reese said it...if prd passes now i have something to hold against him B-) . Now all prd has to do is to understand a) im not intrested in majors and b) i have something else than minimum hand and yes...♣. In pairs my regular prd would have bid 3♦ asking stopper in Nt, but since it teams he probaply bids 4♣...then follows 4♦by me and 4♠by prd, cues and now depending am i on the mood i bid RKCB or 6♣.
  18. When i started to play bridge first and only meaning to 2♦opening was multi and later on after i have played other variants of 2♦opening i have come to following thoughts. The first reason to use multi is that it covers 2 variations; weak 2 in either major or 20-22 balanced hand, that r so far away from each other that it is virtually impossible to mix them during the bidding, and that leaves 3 other 2 level bids to be used other way. In Finland they r commonly used to show various weak 2-suiters. There r cons in that aprroach of course, and the loss of prds ability to pre-empt directly is the most serious them. Its not all that big problem IMO but it is a problem. The loss of weak ♦bid is not a loss at all, 2 level pre-empt in minor is not a pre-empt in that sense that it seriously effects oppos bidding. Defending MULTI is not hard, but u do have to have u agreements in condition, other wise u can end up in a very thin ice. We use MULTI according to vulnerability, in white vs. red and from 3rd hand its very often made with only 5 cards and is always destructive by nature aka. MULTI openers hand is far away from opening hand one way or another; that is of course if its weak 2 by nature.
  19. Yes, every time i have 5 hearts and 18-19 balanced hand with D stopper of course. I think thats what system requires?
  20. What would have prds 3♥been in u sys? IMO u prd is just competing aka u king of ♥ just bites the dust, i would pass. What would u have done on the next round btw. if opps keeps bidding H
  21. Im no Universum expert, but i saw no flaw in u bidding. Yes prd opened light; they do that dont they,s/he took his/hers chances. I would have done same thing i guess. Now back to u; after u had used 4th suit u cant actually pass before game, did i understood right? So u went overboard, it happens; theres no perfect system, just those who worked most of the cases but not all of them.
  22. Few years afo there couple of polish guys won european pairs championships. In this event after the first round, only thing they have an agreement left, was that this is the last time they r going to play together; first session didnt went very well  . After the final round they were the winners though. Its the art of forgetting and forgiving, whatever happend in previous deal its gone, if u prd or yourself made a mistake then what; its not like u r solving the cure fot cancer. Bridge is just a game, nothing more, nothing less. Try to be playful and creative, keep u prd happy; go with the flow. Trying to force u self to stay focus and not make mistakes only drives u to second guess everything and overreacting. Shake the monkey from u back and in the end; whatever dosent kill us makes us stronger. This shld be fun.
  23. Tricky, on one hand i would like to dbl again, but prd might leave it in and then do i have enough defence and prd good enough trumps. On second hand 2♠ now do describes the hand, im bidding all by my self so i cant be very weak. My vote will be 2♠, ♥lead attacks directly to long trumps and i must also develop ticks from my long side suits B) and if im lacking entries to dummy that may be difficult. If and when they bid 3♥i dbl again hoping that my prd would then understand the nature of my hand. Fat chance. :D
  24. 2♥i know im only one who is afraid that prd may not have ♠, but something else; a strong wich he wants to announce by doublung first and bidding his own suit later. If i jump now to 3 or 4♠ prds 4 or 5 level minor will be a nasty surprise. By bidding 2♥ i make clear that im going to bid at least once again, so prd dont have jump anywhere. Same bid announces that i have some kind of maximum pass, will he believe my ♠ r 6 card long, i dont know cause i didnt open 2♠. Lets see what will happen.
  25. First things fist, its game forcing  . Secondly, prd has very few hearts, my guess is zero. Third question bout permissible shapes is a bit harder, since i dont know what for excample dbl here is in u sys, if its for penalties or for take out. Would 3 S here be forcing or just competetive ? And is 4D here forcing or competetive? Two possibilities comes into my mind, prd has some kind of a three suiter in his hand and if u r sure he dont have 4 clubs, my guess he has 3 of them; 5-0-5-3 perhaps also 4-1-5-3 is possible, but then S r good and prd has plenty of side tricks ( of course 5-1-4-3 is an option). Second option is that 4H is an auto splinter; then he has powerful one suiter in spades or 2 suiter with S and D; again if u r sure he dont have 4C, in this case his H stopper can also be an ace not singleton or void. In case of weak Nt u prd knows u dont have weak balanced hand, four card majors...not sure, dont think so. I would not bother my little head about the question what prd has; this is a kind of a headache convention bid; show me yours i`ll show mine later. Question is what do u bid now, S is first option if u have 3 or more of them, seconly D if u have 4 or more of them, and finally C if options 1 or 2 r inavailable. What would 4Nt be in here, natural i guess. As long as i dont have to be Sherlock Holmes, im happy to be just Watson B)
