  1. Well since 2♣ was forcing to game is see no reason why i could not bid 4♣ after 2♥, since i dont have to jump to introduce long ♣ suit, it must ( or shld  ) be cue bid for ♥ as trumps. Now wheter or prd bids cue in ♦, i will be better placed to judge wheter we shld play small slam in ♥ or in no-trumps. Yes i have give up the possibility to play 6 ♣.
  2. Ok 5♥ is a good option, but that its a WTP; hardly. Prd has TON of ♠ and still did not act over 1♣ so theres not much help coming from there. 5♣ bidder has also a distributional hand with one or two short red suits, so there may be suprisingly many losers in our game and yes it will be doubled. But hey everybody else is going to bid 5♥, so i may just join the band :D .
  3. 3♣, ugly 3- suiter and if u have a gadget for that, congratulations :) . Prds 2♦ response can be waiting without any clear cut positive bid, so lets find out if that is the case. We had a pair here in Finland who had a nice system for these kind of situation; they have two game forcing openings 2♣ and 2♦; not sure if my memory serves me correctly but first opening denied and second one promised 4 card or longer spade suit.
  4. Mustn`t that be a mild slam try said it all. If u r sure prd will take as that then its a good bid; on the other hand if u have to ask, dont bid it.
  5. Some 20 years ago in a pairs competition. Two quite well seasoned guys, friends with each other. I have no recall what the auction has been, but one of them launched Blackwood on the road and the other decide to make a "master" bid and response 6Nt. After a long silence everybody passess and the lead came into the board. Declarer had like 15 tricks on the top. A very loud voice asked from his partner why the hell after he asks how many aces u have, u told me that bananas r on sale in local market. I took a while before we stopped laughing. Personally one of the most memorable moments was when i said that im sry after i had plundered perfectly easy game. His response was npp prd im sure u tried u best
  6. I assume im not allowed to invent a convention for this situation. 3♥ strong hand and 6+ hearts; ok i know i might have just bury my KQJ of ♠, but the risk that prd have just 4 card ♠ suit is too big. If i had to pick another bid then it would be 2♦ at least i have a stopper in there.
  7. Ugly situation; if prd would not pass to 3 ♣( as s/he shld not do) that would be best. 4♥ would require 1 more card in ♥. 2♠ is dangerous because its higher suit than ♥ and we could be moysian in 4 level and have 5-3 ♥ as a side suit. 2Nt with singleton Q is also unatractive bid, prd raises to 3 Nt 3532 hand. Im not saying 2 ♦ is clearly a best bid, but lets hope prd wont pass it and turns out to have a 5 card ♥ suit. If s/he bids 3 Nt to 2 ♦ u can always bid 4♥.
  8. There r good leads and bad leads and then there r trimp leads. Im with Art that u shld not lead trumps just because u dont know what else to do, but that they r wrong most of the time im not so sure bout. It makes sense not to play with partners that implicity assumes u r a lousy player  .
  9. North has 1. rest of the ♦ and a trump trick, 2. stopper in ♠ preferably 2 of them 3. high honour in ♥ 4. singleton or void in ♣ and prd who made T/O dbl in red vs. white. Why he bids like that, dont know, maybe his cards improve during the bidding. I would pass happily.
  10. This is a common topic, is it wise to open GF 2♣ with 2-suited hand. There r members in both schools, but the idea IMO is that with 7-6 hand u r without defence if opps starts to pre-empt and now u cant really count on prds penalty dbls, s/he expects u to have more. Like here where they r cold in 7 ♠. What if 1 ♥ has been left for the final contract; well this is not a perfect world  .
  11. If u play fairly constructive pre-empts and thats u agreement AND u have opened accordingly, i dont see why u shld. U made u bid and prd made his/hers, why shld u start to second guess u own prds bidding. I cant see nothing good to come from such actions. If u shld have done that on a that particular deal, dont worry about it; in a long run passing must be right.
  12. Personally i dont like 2♣ bid here either, but i think its lesser evil than others. Best part of precision is that unless prd opens 1 ♣ his hand is limited under 16 or what ever u std is hcp. Worst part of precision is the lack of "natural" minor suit openings; but u just have to live with it. 2 ♣ opening is the one with u most likely run into troubles, but here it describes u shape and strenght accurately and gives u prd a chance to make something out of it. Yes, i would like to have some high cards in my ♣ suit too, but it aint perfect world.
  13. Yes, for two reasons; prd may have some play for 4 ♠ even without any hcp., and secondly because that way i will be in a very good company with the rest of the field minus one or maybe two gamblers so what ever happens my decision wont ruin our competition.
  14. Sry first posting was rubbish, it wont go like that at all. I cant think any other choice than ♣ finessse. Cause if take u 4 ♠ and 4 ♦ winners ( and u gotta have 4 ♦ winners)u will be in the hand with A and 10 of ♥ and AK and 10 of ♣. Now u cant throw RHO in to underlead Q of ♣, because if had started with KQJ of ♥ i dont think he would have lead small ♠. With just 2 ♥ honours he discards them away and let LHO to come in at trick 10. No squeeze will work course when u try to rectify the count by playing small ♥ from both hands defence cuts u communications by playing another ♠. And og f course u cant take AK of ♣ before rectifying the count. Assuming this is 6 NT ♣ hook is only thing i can imagine.
  15. There r 2 major problems here, too many losers and not enough winners to quote Mollo. Lets play it simple, course finesses r so boring i take lead to my hand and play small ♥ from both hands. If opps return ♠, as they will, i take it into the dummy and return hand with A of ♣ and play K of ♣ as well. Back to dummy with Q of ♦ and then rest of the ♠ ditching a ♣ and a ♥ from my hand. Now someone shld be in trouble; lets hope its the defenders ;) .
  16. If u system requiers 5 card majors then 2 ♣. Of course u can bid something else, but that would be anti systemic and i see no clear reason to do so.
  17. Good question. Defending Multi is an artform an sich and ive seen many variations. One recently popular way is play DBL as a T/O for ♠ suit. We play 2♠ as natural and RF and same goes with that 3 ♥ case.
  18. IMO 2♥ as a natural bid is fine here, we play such a structure that 13+ hcp. hands always bid something over multi so that we dont get run over when advancer bid 3 level pass or correct bid. 2Nt 15-18 bal. and via dbl rest of the hands unsuitable for natural bid for 17+ hcp. non bal.hands or 13-14 bal. hands.
  19. MP`s and everybody red, u pick a collection; ♠ K853 ♥ A10765 ♦ A ♣ AK2 And just when u prepre to make u moves u hear RHO start bidding with 1 ♥. Now what?
  20. This is actually a real hand from international competition in Pau and the guy who opened this one with 1♣ has played in international competitions before ;) . In expert panel most of the votes went for the pass and runner up choice was 5 ♣. 3 Nt will go down because lead is A or K of ♥ which clarifies the situation for the defence. What happens in real life was that both teams bid up to 6♣ which made cause dummy had void in ♠ and RHO had void in ♣ B-) .
  21. Prd has jumped into 4 ♥ to my non-vul T/O dbl so he must have 5+ cards in ♥ and some values maybe a black ace. On the other hand we r on the 5 level, but thats the way it is; opps dont usually make it easy. With aceless hand and long ♦ opening would probaply have been 5♦ so we have at least two losers in our game, do we have more? I close my eyes and bid 5 ♥ and do not redouble when its my turn to bid again.
  22. I agree with vianu that i have bid twice without gun in my head and promised better cards than i actually have. On the other hand that means that prds pass over 5♥ is now forcing. He would have dbled it with "bad" cards to warn me not to go 5 ♠. So i must choose now between dbl and 5 ♠ and since i do have a trick or two in defence i dbl; at least they r not going to make more than one overtrick at max. :D
  23. Your cards r: ♠ AKJ92 ♥ - ♦ K2 ♣ AKQ985 You open bidding by 1♣ and LHO bids 1 ♠ after 2 passes its u turn again what r u going to bid?
  24. Opps, prd opens with 2♣ which is forcing to game bid and answers my Blackwood that bananas were on sale at the local market; why would he ever do that. My guess is that his cards were too good to namyats opening and that he cant give me reasonable description bout his hand by answering my blackwood aka he has 12 tricks in his hand regardless what i have in mine and now he pleads me to make an educated guess wheter or not i can help him with that one loser. Sice he refuse to answer my blackwood he has a void and i think actually two voids in his hand. My guess is that he has 10 running ♠ in hand and 3 card ♦ suit namely KQJ. And my bid is 7♠; i really hope i can end this ordeal to words "elementary my dear Watson"
  25. What i like to do is open with 1♠, but if we assume just basic 2/1 without any gadgets; then i choose 2♣ risk of loosing a game is too big. And if prd takes a very rosie wiew after that and thrust us to a no so highly presentage slam... well i have sixth ♠ card and control in every suit to back me up so i shld have some play in any case. And if the worst happens cause my opening choice i humbly apologized from my prd.
