  1. Bidding goes: 1S from left- prd bids 2D- RHO bids 2 S and u pass with S xxx, H A10xx, D Q9, C 10xxx. LHO passes and prd bids 2Nt. Parameters r Dbl from prd would have been T/O or strong hand any shape, 1Nt would have been 15-18 balanced and Michaels would have been split range either weak or strong but not intermediate. What does prd have and what shld i do now?
  2. Pass. Prd must be max. for his 2♥ raise, but still his original bid was 2♥, i dont belive we have game here.
  3. If u use Dbl in these sequence as TO or xfer, dont u rule out the possibility of penalizing opps of stepping in?
  4. I know this place, i have been there before and almost always left there by beated to senseless. Prd has passed and i have 13 hcp. including two jacks. RHO bid a pre-empt and the guy with points sits on my left. If i double LHO a) bids 3Nt and after prds ♠ lead takes 9 tricks via ♦ finesse making satanic chuckling noises since we could have take first 8 tricks if prd launches his K of ♣ to the first trick. Variation b) LHO passes and prd jumps to 4 ♠ with his 5341 hand and 9 hcp. and LHO nails our coffin close by dbl. My choice would be 4♣ its a six card suit and over 4 ♦ if that is ever bid i can introduce my 4 card ♥. I know its not perfect solution and maybe not even best, but that is IMO this time
  5. Just out of curiosity, what kind of a hand is unsuitable to take any action over 3♠, but is suitable to take action over 4 ♠? I play it as a penalty dbl, if we got robbed blind by 4♠ bid so be it. If prd couldnt act T/O over 3 ♠ he shld not try it over 4♠.
  6. Ok i bid 4♦ and prd bid 5♣, oppss, well wheter s/he took 2♠ as 4th suit and promised some ♠ values by bidding 2Nt or not, im not going to play 5 ♣ nor 5 ♦ for that matter. I will bid 6 ♦. Prds next move is 6 Nt huh? I pass to that.
  7. Apart from a miracle, i see no way to make this. Ok, if North i totally lunatic and has no reason for his dbl then, but this seems like S make his call with aided by void in ♠, its even clearer assumption since his suit is headed only by K and J. U r going to lose ♥ and ♦and if ♠ r 5-0....pheeew. In pairs competition this is simple since after the XX it dosent really matter how many u go down, in IMPs this need more careful scrutiny.
  8. Nice place u have driven u self. Since u didnt open 1Nt ( which u shld have done if u play weak Nt). Every bid now on lies something, u just have to decide which lies less. Pass is out question, so is no-trump; which one is bigger of sins lie that u have 1 ♥ or 1 minor suit card more than u have. I my self would bid 2♥ cause that is negative possible rebid.
  9. Im just afraid that prd will take charge nad blast us somewhere we might not belong. Lets say bidding goes 1♣- 1♠- 2♥- 3♦, what do u do now? 3♥ is a must i guess and now prd uses the Blackwood cannon and we end up say to 6Nt  . But after saying that i must confess that i dont see an other option than start with 1♣ and rebid ♥ over 1 ♠.If it goes to hell im prepared to defend my actions and i think reasonable prd will agree with me.
  10. I would also open 1♣ and after prds 1♠ response cross my fingers and bid 2♥. Why cross my fingers, cause this hand will play very badly with misfit and in that case this aint even close to reverse IMO.If prds hand is say 5251 and he has round 14 points, this may end ver ugly. We have a gadget though after my 2♥ prd can ask with 2Nt, how good my "reverse" is, but will he ever belive that my hand is consist only 2 aces and a king and a jack...no i dont think so. But hey life aint perfect and neither r bidding systems and u do have to take some risks, lets hope this adventure ends well :D
  11. Opnening 2♣ as forcing i guess is quite hard, when u RHO had already opened 1♥. Difficult; u can probaply rule the Grand slam out, its hard to imagine a hand where prd has 2 aces and a king and has passed. 4Nt would be both minors in our system, it used to be specific aces asking, but we change it. 4 must be forcing, but what is prd going to bid it, if LHO passes his/hers bid is forced and if LHO bid 5♥ he would probaply pass or bid 5♠. If we bid 3♥we let LHO in even cheaper, and prd will not have any good bid left. Good problem.
  12. IMO this is a no-brainer, and its not wheter its going to make or not nor getting a blind lead or stuff like that. Everybody else r going to bid it, question is do i want to gamble and bid just a part score, nope so howl with a pack and bid xfer and raise it to game.
  13. In our system, 1Major- 3Nt is strictly define as 4441 or 5440 shortness in opening suit and no 5 cards in other major 14-16. Jump in 3Nt consumes so much bidding space that its better to make it as descriptive as possible.
  14. Ditto, why 2♠ ? Now i must try to guess right contract, luckily 6Nt is higher contract than 6 ♠.
  15. I feel for u :) Dbl would not have been my first choice either, but in pairs comp. its not totally out of question. U must have good reason if u hide 4 card ♠ suit. With my regular prds we play raptor for this place, wheter or not it had helped i dont know. Just out of curiosity what would XX by u had been?
  16. If u have discussed bout this situation and agreed his second pass is for penalties then its ok, but that its standard approach.... What is easts xx, " prd i want roundest of zeros from this hand/ - 15+ IMPS" depending wheter its MP or IMPS. Ok thats possible too, but lets not count on that. My guess is that its for bussiness or SOS. If its SOS why didnt west run...because theres couple of S in his hand and 1 or 2 useful face cards, or the other case where hes suicidal? What that leaves for prd, 4 card ♠ suit and 4333 distribution. He dosent want to bid 3 card suit so he passes and let u bid u possible 5 c suit. Ok he could bid 1Nt if that means weak hand nothing to say, but we dont have such luxury in our arsenal, so thats that. I have from 1 to 2 defencive tricks in my hand and to pass i shld assume that prd has 5 to 6 of them in his...nope im not going to do that, unless i KNOW this is something we have agreement upon.
  17. I think everybody shld know whats going on. If u dont, then u havent discuss bout this particular case and if so DONT PASS. My guess is that E has 18-19 and sort of a balanced hand, 1S will sail home regardles how trumps are divided in defence. XX denotes that to W and tells also willingness to penalize every contract we r going to play. W heard that loud and clear and waits whats going to happen next. Prd heard that too, and tries not to dig our hole any deeper, he probaply dosent have 4 c ♥ or 5 c minor. Pass is simply "prd try to get us out of this". That is unless u have discussed and agreed that prd wants u to pass here.
  18. My humble opinion is that yes it is important to show and have stoppers when u r heading to NT contract :) . But i understand u question wheter or not its important to show some strenght via that too. We use following structure in our inverted minor suit raise; 1. openers 2Nt tells that his opening hand is not "kosher", but merely based on rebiddable suit and some defencive strentght or shape that has prohibited use of weak opening. 2. all other responses from opener r FG and promise a decent opening hand, 3Nt promising stoppers in both majors and bidding other minor promises minor two-suiter with fair values; now advancers bid in major promises stopper in that suit and DENIES stopper in other. We dont allow 4 card major in advancer who bids inverted minor suit raise, that violates major suit principle IMO. After opener has bid 2Nt advancer can stop the auction by biding 3 of the opening suit; all other bids from advancer r FG.
  19. Depends on style, how good can prds cards be. If u open every 10+ hands with 6 card major 1M then i would bid 3♥ as pass or correct, if not then 2 Nt asking. RHO will be hesitating rest of the time, his train went already B-).
  20. Pass, one opp has already passed and now prd may have good cards in his hands, i dont wanna pre-empt my prd.
  21. Well, if u r sure 4♦ wont be dbled, then it is easy. On the other hand if opps r awake they realise that -100 is very close to zero if they have 140 coming to they side, so dbling our 4♦ wont cost much even if it makes. -200 on the other hand is a kiss of death in MP`s so raising u prds 3 ♦ to 4 aint so clear cut.
  22. If and when i pass now and east bids some amount of ♥, my wild guess is that 2 of them and prd dbls, im in trouble. I guess it would mean that he has max. 2♠ and 10+ hcp., but how could it be t/o? T/o to what 3 of minors? It must be penalty oriented and im pretty sure they wont make their 2♥ bid, but there r "features" in my hand and now the question is does prd have 0-1 ♠ in which case i shld leave the dbl in or does he have 2 of them in which case we relatively cold for 10 tricks in ♠.
  23. Pass, i can see the problem, but still pass. What is prds dbl after LHO bids something next?
  24. 4♣ after 2♥ sets ♣ as trumps and demands cue bids from prd, really? Ok if u say so, im no expert in 2/1 bidding, but i fail to see the point in that; if 2♣ is forcing to game why wouldnt i bid just 3♣ over 2♥ if i have ♣ and no support for ♥ and rebid them after what ever prd bids on his/hers next round. Without knowledge of where prds key cards r i have no other way to decide which slam we play than just guess.
