it would be nice if were in the acbl tournament you could switch to free tournaments with 1 key as in old version

The director ruled after 1♦ opening bid 1st seat 3rd seat must pass once which of course ended the auction with a pass in 4th seat.
-
I said "unlimited" nowhere did I say 8-11
-
I can read the rules and have an idea what rules apply. But the meaning is not clear to me. What should happen?
-
Director told 1st seat to make their normal call.I don't know hand but they are conservative bidders so I would think passing would be taking advantage of UI and that partner will likely be allowed to make some sort of NT call even if opps bid.
-
3rd seat bids 1NT 15-17 balanced out of turn. opponents do not accept bid. What are the consequences? 1st seat will open 1♦ and opponents will pass.

What is west doing? Ok west forgot they play controls over interference but even so East has shown a decent hand. What does it take for slam? K♣ and a red Ace or 2 aces Surely this is possible so... 3♠ is sufficient to set trump and asks for cue-bidding. ---- 4♠ deserves the bad result they got.
-
I think director was just trying to be nice was not following the rules.
-
No you have it wrong. Both bids are artificial and unlimited in strength. As the bids are forcing for at least 1 round you can include game forcing hands.

There was talk of losing health plan in Canada's free trade deal with USA I don't understand how your health coverage can even be a negotiated item?

UI makes club lead a little more likely of success declare presumably has A♥ and ♦ shortness with A♣ they might be in slam or doubled 5♦

5-5 minors in a short club context
steve2005 replied to perko90's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
The sensible way to show a minimum 55 minors is 1♦-2♣. Surely 3♣ is needed for a good 5-5 hand. Your system precludes 2♣ so I would suggest a 2NT opening for such a hand which has more preemptive value than your suggestion of 2♦ for both minors -
Easy reporting of bizarre robot bids and play
steve2005 replied to JaxBurn's topic in Suggestions for the Software
If the game is something that will show up in your history you can do it quite a while later by going in to your history. This method is very simple and BBO will often need the entire hand to fully look at the problem. and most of time you can't tell if it is a real problem until you have finished and can see Gibs hand. -
Easy reporting of bizarre robot bids and play
steve2005 replied to JaxBurn's topic in Suggestions for the Software
When hand is over. (You really should wait till you have seen all hands before saying GIB blundered even though you may be right.) Go to history page if that tab not open go to hand in question. click on blue square with 3 white lines click on export click on send robot report. you can put in description as detailed as you want. -
3NT values without a stopper (Lebensohl)will probably end up in 4C

Insufficient bid
steve2005 replied to bbubbles's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Generally you cant double after you have barred your partner. This turns possibly ambiguous doubles into penalty doubles 27 b 3 except as provided in B1(b) above, if the offender attempts to substitute a double or a redouble for his insufficient bid the attempted call is cancelled. -
There may be times when it is correct to show a void with no keycards. However, Gib is not programmed such that it can make such a decision correctly (even with sims) Better for Gib to never to show a void with 0 KC.

there is nowhere to go partner just caught you with worst hand on another day 4H might be there

GIB fails to cash setting ace against slam
steve2005 replied to 42krunner's topic in GIB Robot Discussion
This had gotta be the same sort of bug that prevented cashing out on opening lead for -1 against slam in past versions of Gib.BBO fixed it by put a statement they if such a situation occurs on opening lead cash out but the underlying reason why cashing the setting trick is not consider the best option was never addressed. This hand proves there is a bud in Gib's programing. Well beside the other bugs :) -
partner knew when they doubled you might have to bid heats at 3-level.Why are you being shy?

most valuable addition(s) to SAYC
steve2005 replied to rr9000's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
If your playing SAYC and not 2/1 I think you should keep simple1) not needed at this level just normal NMF 2) This very important if you want to try and bid slams. 3) Yes this actually simplifies things. 4) no unnecessary complexity 5) Yes you cant wait all year for a strong JS in this situation. -

Forcing raise in a minor 1♦-3♣ & 1♣-2♦ comes to mind -
Does this convention have a name?
steve2005 replied to misha_aus's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
