  1. weekend has free sunday daylong and 2 day survivor tournament
  2. Too true John- lots of free stuff you can do. You can also volunteer to be a substitute for tournaments. Even more if you have a friend who can spare a $1.25 or $1.75 or $5 and pay your entry fee.
  3. the message is: "post a convention card or play basic SAYC" which means you must post a convention card or you can be forced to play SAYC This is an ACBL rule which is usually ignored. On BBO it is almost totally ignored.
  4. this is a recent bug, you are getting warned that you have been inactive and have to click ok to prove otherwise. This occurs to all users not just directors. This occurs even if you have just clicked seconds before!
  5. Recently I have this problem. I substitute for someone in a ACBL tournament. finish one or two hands then i am removed as a substitute. but i can;t return to main menu, also the list of tables no longer shows the back and home button are grayed out.
  6. impossible. more likely you missaw the event by far.
  7. A good idea is true. However, the first trick is still available for viewing until you play to the next trick. Click on the trick count to view last trick.
  8. Often where claiming with giving the opponents tricks causes confusion. Once doing this I was accused of cheating as the opponent thought i was claiming all the tricks.
  9. Really, the clock should be clicking for your opponents to time-out if you make a claim.
  10. Currently you need to play a card (cancelling your claim) if opps won't respond to your claim.
  11. Exactly the notes are not totally reliable.
  12. Say you are missing QJ in suit and have AKT9 and combined 8-9 cards in the suit. Also, assume no entry problems etc. Normally if opponents play Q or J after you play Ace it is a 2-1 favourite to finesse next time suit is played. Theory If GIB defender has QJ doubleton it will always play the Q. So, if Gib plays the Q restricted choice doesn't apply and you have normal odds for that suit. However, if Gib plays the J it is now a 100% play to finesse as GIB won't have QJ. Is this theory correct?
  13. No wonder GIB sucks with Goulash type hands.
  14. I would label hand as declarer not as concealed
  15. For Gib to let 7NXX make is ludicrious.Takes unblocking K♣ near end as final nail in coffin knowing declarer has Queen
  16. Thinking for 5 seconds before passing over 5♦ is hardly unexpected after such a spirited auction.
  17. How do they show a red 2-suiter? Without any interference, I had that sequence passed out. Partner had thought I had forgotten transfers after 20 years! I was not impressed playing in 3D when 4H is cold and 6H isn't the worst slam ever.
  18. Your sentence isn't proper English but it looks like your reserving 2♥/2♠ for future use by opener.Opener can no more bid 2♥ after 2NT then after 2♥. So you're using up bidding space for no reason if I had read your post correctly.
  19. On new web-based bbo. After the last round all the boards have update to their numbers but the total does not get updated correctly It is often very different to the the tournament results
  20. BBO deals hands randomly and then if the human doesn't have the most points, hands are switched. So the distribution of all 4 hands should be random. Now, the human having the best hand will on average have less shortness as those suit's cards don't contribute as many hcps or 0 in case of voids; which is what decides best hands.
  21. playing at the club with computer deals at one table got 4-0 trump breaks on both hands.Plus i was sitting against the club owner! I assure you it was just a a coincidence. These things just happen and you tend to remember them.
  22. In the main room you get the same choices for deal sources; Only in practise/teaching can you use saved games This may be a feature. <ed.>i didn't see you can set up teaching table in Prime
  23. I think i will be in game on these hands If i don't i am going to miss games where hands fit a little better
  24. simple math.you see a hand that has a 1% probability. Think that is wierd.. but there are actually more than 6 different hand type all of which have 1% probability. If any of these other hands shows up you would be just as surprised but the probability of any 1% hand showing up is substantially higher.
