  1. No one would pass 3CX with that hand.
  2. 1♠ - 2♣ 2♠ - 3♠ Is 3♠ forcing in SAYC?

Then 50% North and 50% South for bad system agreements. :P

100% North for not overcalling 2♣ first round.
  5. Isn't it unusual to play 2♥ by a passed hand as forcing?
  6. 16.95 http://www.jeff-goldsmith.org/cgi-bin/knr.cgi?hand=a85+kj+kqt52+kj2
  7. That's not a weak NT, it's a 15-17 1NT opening. http://www.jeff-goldsmith.org/cgi-bin/knr.cgi?hand=xx+A987+AKT+KT98
  8. How do you bid if you want to defend 4♠ undoubled?
  9. A passed hand usually does not have a very good hand... ;)
  10. 2♣-2♦ 2♥-4♣ Isn't this usually played as a forcing club raise?
  11. I seriously doubt that what you're saying is true. Seems silly to make it harder for our side to find our 4-4 major fits.
  12. Low to 10 followed by low to Q also handles 98 tight. But your suggested line is still best since it also handles 9 or 8 singleton.
  13. You bid 3♠ with that hand when North could have xx/xx/AKxx/Axxxx?
  14. What if you should play 3NT? Partner might have Ax/Kx/AQxxxx/KQx.
  15. From an old (2006) Meckwell CC: 1H 8+ 5+ spades OR 11-13 balanced 1S 8+ 5+ hearts 1N 8+ 5+ clubs 2C 8+ 5+ diamonds 2D 8-10 balanced 2H 14+ balanced
  16. The question asked in the OP only makes sense if you're playing a system where 2/1 is not GF. Surely no one would consider bidding 2D with that hand if it was GF.
  17. You seem to interpret the question "Enough for 2/1?" as "Enough for 2/1 GF?". Why?
  18. If 1♠ is forcing and 2♠ is artificial, why would responder take away a whole bidding level by bidding 3♠? This makes it very difficult for opener to describe his hand.
  19. Opener can't have that hand when he bids 4D over 3S. 4D IMO denies club control.
  20. West has 4243. Wouldn't he prefer a spade lead over a diamond lead if he had Qxxx/Qx/Qxxx/QJx?
  21. The Swedish and Norwegian regulations are not the same. The Swedish regulations are as I wrote earlier in the thread. It is the player to bid that controls the length of the pause, not the player who gave the skip bid warning. The player to bid is expected to wait approximately 10 seconds. Here's a link (text in Swedish): http://www.svenskbridge.se/e107_plugins/co...ontent.1910#M53
  22. A skip bid warning should be given before a jump bid and next player should wait 10 seconds before bidding. I can't say if this is different compared to other jurisdictions.
  23. Here's the full hand: [hv=d=n&v=b&n=s85hq76daj2cak982&w=s2ha852dt73cqj653&e=saqt9763hj3dkq6c7&s=skj4hkt94d9854ct4]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 4S-X went 1 down after non-optimal defense. TD ruled that table result should stand since he could not establish that a break in tempo had occurred. My thinking is that if one side says there was a 1 minute pause before the pass then it's very likely that the pause was longer than 10 seconds. I'm not a TD, but I would've changed the result to 4S undoubled down 1.
