  1. I think you will make 4H a large majority of the time that both major suit kings are on plus a fair amount that only one king is on. It seems a lot better to me. But yeah 3D X is the spot single dummy
  2. LOL wtf Clee beat me to it... Anyways it is impossible for partner to bid 3S non forcing andthen over 4C non forcing bid 4D slam try lol. It is also terrible/unplayable to 3S as NF, and I've never heard of it, so given partner's inconsistent auction plus those facts I'm gonna guess it was forcing. I think this is a wtp 5C now, we already overcalled.

    south forgot to bid 5C?!
  4. What's OL? Opening leader... I think clayton told me this is called tick tock smith or something weird lol, apparantly its standard in some parts of cali. Anyways, I strongly disagree with 4H, that's not a cuebid its trying to play in 4H. Partner is typically 553 when he bids this way. Anyways obviously partner was not 553 given our doubleton spade and their failure to bid but that's definitely what it should show. Now we're guessing a bit but I think we just have to bid slam. Hand 2?! LOL
  5. Thx for everything, have a good birthday.
  6. Im sure you know this but they will definitely remove the OD charges if you just talk to the manager. Still that whole story actually tilted me, i mean...wow
  7. If the EW result was due to (I forget the exact wording) a stupid, ridiculous, irrational, wild, gambling action, then NS should not have their score changed. All you can do to them is give some kind of procedural penalty for a bad explanation, as well as for responder's extraneous comment (b. in the original post) if you care to. This is incorrect. In fact most split rulings are because one pair forgot to play bridge after they were damaged so they keep the score, but the offending side gets their score rolled back since they can't benefit from the damage. The really stupid bid or play might well have not occurred if there hadn't been damage to begin with.
  8. I mean it looks like dummy might have been bidding on solid diamonds or w/e but it's still the best shot to beat it. I can't see partner having AQ of clubs or anything.
  9. Because it's definitely solvable if you think about it, which you will when its given in problem form. It is not that hard from that point of view, but the problem for me at least is I would probably not think deeply about this play because no warning bells are going off at all.
  10. It's a very good contract on this auction probably.
  11. Saw auction wrong... I would start with 3H, showing clubs is important not just because we might belong in clubs but it will help partner evaluate his hand if we have a grand. After this double I would follow through with my plan and bid 5C. I will never stop short of 6.
  12. Well if you don't think the hand is worth a game force I can't argue with 2N. For me it is a clear GF...maybe because I don't play with myself lol. But something like KQJxx xxx Axx xx will produce game and partner is never gonna bid it. On top of that the opps probably make 4H when he has that. I would also always bid 4S if the opps bid 4H so that's another reason to bid it now (although obviously they are not just always bidding 4H lol).
  13. Umm, I play way more boards with clients than experts, I just think that unless specified that partner is not trustworthy you are supposed to assume partner will make the "right" bids. I totally agree that with a weak partner they are far less likely to cooperate, in fact they probably will never cooperate.
  14. I was looking over the hand records from a club game and it had deep finesse analysis of how many tricks each side can make in each denomination fromm each declarer. If you cannot make 7+ tricks in a denomination it just leaves i blank. Anyways there was a hand where no declarer can make anything...literally. Par on the hand is passout. Anyways I was just wondering if I was right in how unlikely this is, it seemed super unlikely like a once in a lifetime thing. Am I overestimating the improbability of this? Can anyone smart come up with an estimate of how likely this is or is that too difficult?
  15. It's my style to bid 4S with this hand type rather than 2N. It's true we could miss a slam but I view that as quite unlikely, and I like the pressure it puts on the opps. People (me!) will double this auction pretty aggressively, and sometimes you get a 5H bid from someone. You also don't reveal anything about partner's hand and they're leading blind, and you don't let LHO bid something to help partner lead. I am a strong believer in this kind of bid.
  16. lol Frances you analyze hands better than almost anyone... I'm just curious but like how long did it take you to figure that out? I always imagine you just insta figuring it out lol. Do you think you would find this play at the table (I mean I guess it's not hard but I just imagine myself insta pitching a spade happily since it doesn't seem like a very important moment.)
  17. Frances I think you implied you might like passing and passing a double. I think one big problem of that plan is that they might well be cold. It's not like we have overwhelming defense.
