  1. I dont see why you would assume partner has QTxxx of hearts. Partner having long hearts is far worse for the defense than anything else, giving him 5 hearts as the basis of your analysis for our offensive and defensive potential will bias your results a lot, and I don't see any real reason for that.
  2. I would bet heavily on that, who wouldn't? I thought the point of bidding 1N is because you might have a game and probably won't get 800. edit: Also as far as I know 100 beats 90!
  3. If pard bids 3S over my double I will bid game.
  4. same possibility when its stiff K of diamonds onside, maybe we catch LHO with 3+clubs anyways.
  5. Obviously if you were aware there would be a third round then this is a great plan, but with no assurance that the opps will help you out and bid 3C I think you are resulting to suggest 2S on the second round. Partner will not think twice before passing with x Jxxxx Jxx xxxx or similar.
  6. I would reopen over 2 but not 3.
  7. Love the first pass by north. Hate the second pass by north. Sure you could get owned if partner is 4234 18-19 and you bid 4C, but it's way more likely when the opps bid 3H they don't have no points and 8 hearts, and instead partner has 4135.
  8. 1S 2H 3H= limit + 1H 2S 3S= GF raise, slight extras. 1H 1S 3H X= takeout.
  9. I would say if you don't open light in third seat drury is still a winner.
  10. Don't be embarassed about revoking, it happens to players of all levels :) They should be embarassed for there behavior.
  11. Is the general consensus that we think Wayne is serious in this thread (or the other ones like it)? Adam, FWIW that is a ridiculous ruling and you should not tolerate being treated that way. I know from experience that you might get treated this way more than others based on your age.
  12. I think starting with 3D is better than bidding 4C.
  13. I would call drury mandatory.
  14. I think a low club would be legit at imps, but never at MP.
  15. If you are 21 forget what I said, your capacity to get better is very high. Just realize that it will be hard. Get the most out of the hands you play by analyzing them afterwards, ideally talking them through with better players. If you are unsure about some hands/decisions/whatever, try posting them and people here can answer your questions.
  16. This is really a good problem, still dunno but gut says 2H. I would easily bid 2D at imps, but the whole "find the right strain at all costs" argument is not really good at MP, maybe just staying low in the wrong strain is better than being too high in the right strain.
  17. T98x AQJxx xx Qx all vul imps. You start with pass, pass 1S, 3D, ?
  18. lol @ 20+ years... lol wow inquiry busted out joe grue...touche... epic thread. BTW I <3 YOU KEN I CAN'T BELIEVE WE USED TO FIGHT LIKE THIS!
  19. Honestly quitting bridge might be a good option, especially if you are elderly. It is a very slow and long process to get better, probably compounded by most peoples inefficient practices while trying to do so. Your story is pretty normal. Good luck to you. To clarify: I think it is often impossible for people to meet their goals when they start bridge too late. They simply underestimate how vast and difficult bridge is, and overestimate their own capacity to learn something like that at a more advanced age, especially if they are smart and successful people. It's sad that some people are never told this. OP, I think the biggest thing you can do is reassess your goals and see how reasonable they are. It is quite possible you are doing all the right things (playing a lot, studying a lot, reading a lot), but your goals are impossible to achieve. Assuming you do not want to lower your measures of success and improvement, maybe a new game/hobby is the right call.
