  1. I would much rather trust partner in these situations, especially since this is not a time when partner would ever even consider psyching. East would have made the exact same opening bid without the ♥KQ... This is not something about table feel, it's something about how to play bridge, and the 2♦ overcall is not bridge.
  2. I think that playing a forcing NT is substantially better when the minimum balanced hands are removed from the 1M opening, so IMO if you want to play a forcing NT, you should open the 5M 12-14 hands with 1NT. If you want to open the 5M 12-14 hands with 1M, then I think playing a semiforcing NT is better.
  3. I lead the red card I forgot to put on the table the last round since I can't lead a 1NT.
  4. 4♣ then Pass for me as well. If I had bid 3♥, I think over 4♥ we owe partner a 4♠ call.
  5. I like 4♥ on paper, but probably wouldn't think it up at the table. If I had to pick between 5 and 6, I'd try 6.
  6. I'm pretty sure it was "this" when I made my post, but perhaps I am hallucinating...
  7. I've been serial downvoted by her too. She serial downvotes whenever someone makes a post pointing out that she is wrong or disagrees with her. BTW on your post Justin, I misclicked and meant to click +... Anyway, pretty much every post she makes gets downvoted by someone, because they all have the same worthless and annoying advice -- Agree what the bid means with your partner. This is very nice, but some of us don't have the time to discuss the nuances and inferences in a competitive 5 level decision with partner before the game, even with my regular partners, there are plenty of situations that arise here that haven't been discussed but can be logically figured out, or are interesting problems otherwise. The posts that don't tell us to have an agreement with partner are usually some very badly thought out logic, or misinterpretation of some post or hand. Just telling people to have an agreement with their partner is totally pointless, and is spam IMO And there you have it, Lurpoa, that is why I downvote almost every single one of your posts.
  8. I agree with MFA on both -- On the second, this hand isn't strong enough to Keycard, but it is enough to make a try below game.
  9. 4♥, passing when we have at least 9 maybe 10 tricks in our own hand is insane. Bidding 4N or double could work out, but they will leave us with much worse guesses on the next round -- If we bid 4N, and hear 5♣ or 5♥, we still won't know whether to raise (Although it will in theory be rightsided). If we double, and hear 4♠ from partner, what now? If we double and partner passes we aren't very happy either, since all our HCP and tricks will have to come from our long suits, which LHO rates to be short in. Even if partner bids 4♥ over the double, we still might not have 5 level safety, although I think 5♦ is definitely warranted then. In any case, this is an interesting problem, and pre-empts do work sometimes... Especially 4m ones, which I find very rarely backfire, and often win a lot of IMPs.
  10. Double on the South hand is awful. Bidding Michaels is completely clear cut, and I agree with 1♠... Pass here says that you have no strong preference, and would like him to pick his best suit -- This is is the best way to avoid needless -300s and -500 on the 1 and 2 level. The actual layout is a quite unlucky, and in fact, on a good day you might make 4♠, but that doesn't change the fact that Double with the South hand is horrible. Finally, on BBO, expert really means nothing :)
  11. lol and you are saying other people are giving political answers...
  12. OK then I'll say it. LOL and you are, of course, right? I don't suppose you have a bidding book coming out anytime so that I can burn and replace all of my existing texts with your masterpiece?
  13. I think it's an obvious 3♣ the first time. Abstain now.
  14. Colors are for children. Besides, they're all wrong, each and every one of them, myself included.
  15. I rate it somewhere between "It makes my eyes hurt", and "OMG GET ME OUT OF HERE THAT IS SUCH AN AWFUL BID"
  16. Really? 3♦ on this? I didn't think it was enough for anything here, but I guess I'm a bit paranoid... Meh.
  17. [hv=pc=n&s=skq96h976dkt72c73&d=s&v=n&b=15&a=pp1d3c]133|200[/hv] Two questions here... Do you think you have enough to make a double/some other call? ... Say you pass over 3♣, LHO passes, and partner backs in with 3♦. What now?
  18. Agree with Jlall here, although I have no idea what SAYC really is.
  19. -530 is probably my smallest minus score. I pass.
  20. I blame north for having all the important cards. 2N-3N, wtp?
  21. I like this contract, and I don't like many other contracts. Pass.
  22. I bid 6♦ in both cases. Not a huge fan of 2♣, but I can live with it.
