  1. Mr. Vorhees is definitely the one to call...
  2. Auburn smoked some seriously strong ganja at halftime. Probably bought it from those UT players who got arrested. At least I had Seton Hall/Georgetown over, Detroit (NCAA) +7, and Wisc-GB +7. If St. Mary's can cover the 4 against the Zags I'll have my first profitable day in quite some time. Go Gaels!
  3. Real football or not I don't care. Just give me some winners to bet on.
  4. One might think east showed good spades by freely bidding over north's 2♣ as opposed to simply pulling his partner's penalty double to 2♠.
  5. You're right, I just love basketball and live in the suburbs, nowhere near the "hood." But I don't know how to fix the illegibility of all that stuff. If I were a true homeboy, "fromdahood" would be my handle.
  6. Anybody else like USC +1 at Stanford tomorrow night? Or should we just stick to fading Lang?
  7. I prefer natural and strong myself with mandatory raises from opener with one of the top three honors, even if singleton. But I'm kind of a dinosaur in this regard. Close 2nd choice is SJS. Good luck! :(
  8. It seems irrational to me for one to save the master trump for trick 13 instead of winning it at trick 12 to be on lead whether one knew his/her last card is good or not. I would probably argue that there is no rational purpose for discarding at trick 12 as I have yet to see somebody be endplayed at trick 13. If there is no rational purpose for a play I would have to deem that play irrational as IMO would be discarding here.

  10. Sorry if this belongs in Josh's other thread but I can't believe ACBL is considering getting rid of the robot tourneys. Everyone I know loves them and does not want them to go away. That being said, how are we supposed to keep these exciting tournaments sanctioned by the ACBL? Robot races, robot rewards, and robot duplicates all fit under the category of fun events. Losing them would be terrible even though I guess I understand why ACBL wants such a feat as becoming life master to be done in a "brick and mortar" setting.
  11. Seems like all these news channels, especially the ones on cable, seem to just tell their audiences want they want to hear rather than just report the news and let the viewer decide. Anyone not guilty of this? Maybe PBS with the McNeil/Lehrer news hour or whatever the name is? Maybe BBC America? Any ideas out there as to who is good at reporting without a slant? I sure don't have any.
  12. I enjoy (American) football. What should the over/under be on a Raiders/Rams game be? 13.5? Lower? Both teams are so pathetic... I don't want to hijack this thread, after all it's about Limbaugh potentially owning an NFL team (not that the Rams would qualify as such...) of which I don't have much of an opinion.

  14. 1.) I don't play enough. 2.) I don't have the time to work on a regular partnership, i.e. one that has a chance to play together at least once a week (some would argue more than that is needed, fine, no argument from me). 3.) Lack of concentration, which often stems from the vast majority of my playing coming as a playing director filling in to avoid a sitout so my mind is not always at the table at which I'm currently playing. 4.) An extreme inability to let a bad result go, especially one where the hand should have been "easy." I do have an easier time letting a bad result go when either the hand was tough or my opponents deserve the credit for playing/defending properly but I get really angry at myself when the errors/bad results are self-inflicted, especially on a hand where my dog would have found the right play. There are probably way many more reasons than this but these are the only ones I can think of right now.

  17. Thank you all for the input (and I still welcome more). In my opinion, this pair has probably never even heard of what a forcing pass is so I surmised that the BIT suggested not passing. Passing 5♥ seemed like it could work out just as much as bidding on or doubling so I did in fact adjust the result to 5♥ played by the nonoffenders (down 2 on the unfortunate, but at all probable, trump lead). I guess what I'm getting at is was I wrong?
  18. I am 99% sure this pair had no agreements as to what 3♦ or 3♥ would have been. I know I should have asked. I felt pass was a LA if partner could be as little as ♠Kxx ♥xx ♦xxx ♣QJxxx. If it means anything, one player has about 500 ACBL masterpoints and the other (the 5♠ bidder), has about 10.
  19. ACBL Club Game: ♠AQJxxx ♥J ♦A10xx ♣Kx All NV: RHO You LHO Partner pass 1♠ 3♣* 3♠ 4♥ 4♠ 5♥ pass** pass ??? *shows a Michaels type bid with specifically diamonds and hearts ** BIT The player chose to bid 5♠, got doubled, and made it. Did this person have any LA? I tend to think so but I am not certain. I appreciate all input here. Thanks.
  20. Law 75C: Answering Questions on Partnership Agreements: When explaining the significance of partner's call or play in reply to an opponent's inquiry, a player shall disclose all special information conveyed to him through partnership agreement or partnership experience, but he need not disclose inferences from his general knowledge and experience. I'm not sure if they asked what 2♦ meant so perhaps this doesn't apply. As far as knowing he plays another convention with every other partner, I'm not sure if this is considered partnership experience (I guess it might if this has happened before) or general knowledge and experience. Sorry to not be all that helpful. (I voted never but not convincingly in my mind.)
  21. I think if you start with F3 (enter names) and have the blank list on your screen, you can start with F6 for begin sequential entry. If you study the screen closely enough, I believe you can find all the commands available such as go to the next pair, previous pair, etc. Good luck.
  22. Feliz cumpleanos, Felipe. Enjoy some tacos and/or burritos at Benito's (or is it Benita's?). In any case, have a great birthday.

I personally really enjoy Pappadeaux. You, as you may already know, don't have to limit yourself to just Cajun there. They have an awesome Greek salad as well as other dishes besides fish if I remember correctly. The draft beer selection I think is ok, too. BOL.
  24. That would not be so easy as you might think. Did you hear the one about the plastic surgeon who hung himself? Was he a penile enlargement specialist trying to make himself hung?
