  1. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sakxxxxhxdcakjxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP [/hv] As South, how do you open this and what are your intentions later? Please elaborate on the merits and demerits of a 2C GF opening versus a 1S opening. Thanks in advance.
  2. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sakqjhj875d53cj32]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Playing teams, you deal and get this collection: 1 - Do you open it? 2 - (Okay, even if your response to #1 was negative, please assume you would open) State your reasoning regarding a 1C compared to a 1S opening. Thx :)
  3. @ TylerE and SchTsch But hei, neither of you could start the hostilities with 1S, could you eheheheh
  4. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=saj10xxxxhdcakxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Not sure if this qualifies as an interesting hand, but it sure as hell is a fantastic one. How many times you get that pattern? I am told about this is a 0,00515 %. How many times with those nice suits? I guess it goes down to something like 0,000412 % lol Now consider the auction, in which I have chosen to open with 1S, and it went: 1S......2H......4S......5H ? Now, what are the odds of partner holding a hand to support yours with 4S...? Should I play the lottery this next weekend...? :P
  5. Well, lets just hope partner bids 4H tehn eheheheh
  6. I guess I would play Ace and another Club discarding two Diams. from hand.... unless ofc the Club King dropped.... what happens next...?
  7. 3C. I hate to preempt with outside aces but this time I think I good reasons to do so.... second choice would be Pass.
  8. At Imps I would bid 4H and think about it later B) At MPs, I prefer to show a limit raise (2NT; cue-bid; whatever your agreements are). If he shuts me down, which I believe he will, I will trust his judgement and Pass. I don't think this will be a horrible result in MPs.
  9. You are right.... but maybe I get lucky and find declarer with stiff King B) imagine leading the Queen and dummy shows up with Jxx..., and declarer scores two Diam. tricks.... I would hate to see that happen B)
  10. Actually, I like the Diam. Ace better B)
  11. Now it is shows the correct order.... Previously I got West's hand in North seat and mine in East's seat....
  12. How can it be correct....? RHO opened 1NT and he is dummy...? If he is dummy, how could I lead my Heart 10....?
  13. I am wondering if it is just me or this problem is not correct....?
  14. I've deleted this because I got it all wrong.... have to look again :) And now after a deeper look, I am bidding 4S in both.
  15. 4S. If this goes wrong (e.g. partner proceeds to slam) I apologize, congratulate opponents and move on. If partner isn't able to understand why I did what I did, it is time to consider some changes :)
  16. First of all, thx all for your contributions :) That hand came up during an Imps game some time ago while playing with an Expert, or a so called.... The hand I posted was his hand actually, and I was astonished when he argued that 3H was clear and mandatory. So I was the 2C overcaller, and I am usually a partner you can trust, especially when it comes to 2nd level overcalls. My hand was: Ax K Jxxx AQxxxx After 3H from partner, which IMHO is absolutely game forcing, fearing we didn't have nine tricks on top (if I only knew about partner's C King) I came up with the strang idea of trusting partner's bid and went for 4H. I am also for the double (coz' its the only way to bring the Heart suit in), but I believe it is very close to 3S.... that Club King worths more than an Ace after partner's 2C :)
  17. 1NT. It is what I have plus it right-sides the contract plus it might make they think twice before they compete in 2D :)
  18. Just to make sure I got it right... 1H......3C......P.....? If this is it, then I believe this is an obvious Pass... well, at least obvious for me :)
  19. I prefer to play with partners who usually have their bids :) Having said that, I expect partner to have 8 playing tricks here (unfavorable vulnerability). In MPs, I am prepared to bid 5C. This has several goals in mind. First one is to increase partner's noise.... I can't figure out how we will beat a Major game and I also know we won't be ruined in 5C. Second, 5C is more likely to make their job harder to find slam, at least in theory :) Third, this shows a lot of partnership trust, and I am willing to get a bottom (if that is the case) to show it.
  20. 2♦.....P......2♥......P P.....P Too late - they have stopped in their 6-2 heart fit and you have just missed 6♠. Bad luck! Right lol, I totally missed that.... So, 3NT in first round it is :)
  21. 1 - I Pass. 2 - I Pass. 3 - I bid 2NT if this is supposed to show 15-16 HCP, otherwise 3NT as I expect partner to hold at least 8 HCP for his double.
  22. Ducking first trick, discarding a club seems pretty clear and mandatory to me. You should be alerted to the fact (although remote) that both Majors won't split favorably. If you ruff in hand, you might not be able to grab your spades later. In fact, if they continue with Diams. you should duck again discarding one more Club :)
  23. 5D, if not with this at this vulnerability, when?
