  1. Defending a 3♥ contract my bot partner led the 7♠. Dummy tabled Jxx and I held AQ8. When declarer played low I played the Q which lost to the K. Partner bot then got in with a trump and led the 9♠. So my question; Is it possible in any known universe for partner to have led the 7 and then followed it up with the 9 from a holding of 10,9,7?
  2. I don't know why you think that I would have missed a cold slam? If I had gotten 0 keycards I still would have been in 6♦. Staying out of a grand off the A of trumps is the only issue here.
  3. Well, I would if I thought that I had a game forcing 10 coint. But if I had forced to game I'd certainly have put the brakes on with zero keycards.
  4. Great catch. Let's add another club. However, if the missing card was the A♦ then dummy would have had his original forcing to game 2♣ response.
  5. In an uncontested auction I bid 1♦-2♣-2♦-2♠- 3♣- 3♦- 4nt- 5nt- 7♦. 4nt was kc blackwwood in diamonds. Bot replied 5nt showing 2 kcs and a void. I bid 7♦ holding void,AJx,KJ1098xx,Axx. dummy(in the truest sense of the word) tabled Kxxx, void,Qxx, KQ1098. Where are the 2 keycards promised? I'm used to going down in my overbid grands but not off the Ace of trumps.
  6. Only if you believe that the bot will always lead 4th best vs 6nt, which I don't. As I've posted above I once had a bot lead J from Jxx, spurning his partners 1♦ opener [url=" (http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/74270-are-these-robots-wired/page__p__886232__hl__jammen__fromsearch__1#entry886232)./url] GIB system notes also say "How GIB Defends: It's difficult to describe precisely how GIB defends. It doesn't use rules and guidelines, like humans often do." However, I'm certain that I misplayed the hand and should have maintained my squeeze possibilities as well as played the spade suit correctly.
  7. Ok. However, I also know that Gibbo led the J♠ from jxx after his partner opened 1♦, I overcalled 1NT and my partner raised to 3nt. Gibber caught me with Q9xx opposite AKx and I went down one. I posted the hand when it happened but I can't find it now so could be deleted. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I don't trust these bots at all.
  8. Yes, I like this line. Note that I would have finessed the 9♠ if West covered as I pick up all 4-2 splits except for K9 doubleton. However, you're right that ace and small towards dummy is far superior.
  9. Why is it impossible for West to hold a singleton? Can't East lead the 3 from 10,8,5,4,3?
  10. What do you do when West shows out on the second ♦?
  11. [hv=pc=n&s=sqjt82haj3dak9cq9&w=s93ht9762djtc8742&n=sa6hq5dq762cak653&e=sk754hk84d8543cjt&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1np6nppp&p=d3dadjd2sqs9s6skcjcqc2c3s2s3sas4d6d4d9dtc4cactc9cks7dkc7dqd5h3h2hqh8hjh6h5h4hah7sthtc5s5sjh9c6hks8c8d7]399|300[/hv] I don't like my play as I hate to commit myself so early. Does knowing that the bot will always falsecard the higher of two equals help me?
  12. I don't like how I played it but don't know what the best line is. [hv=pc=n&s=sqjt82haj3dak9cq9&w=s93ht9762djtc8742&n=sa6hq5dq762cak653&e=sk754hk84d8543cjt&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1np6nppp&p=d3dadjd2sqs9s6skcjcqc2c3s2s3sas4d6d4d9dtc4cactc9cks5h3c7hqh4hjh2h5h8hah6dkh7d7d5stc8c5s7sjh9c6d8s8htdq]399|300[/hv] Does knowing that Gibbo always falsecards with the highest card of the holding help me at all?
  13. This is from my first ever post "Are these robots wired?": "After two passes RHO bids 1D. I overcall 1NT and get raised to 3. LHO opens the jack spades. I have K9xx in dummy and AQx in hand. Is it really possible for LHO to lead the Jack from Jxx when his partner has opened one diamond? I'll accept my occasional bad play, but these guys are picking my pocket and I have no recourse and no director to call."
  14. I don't mind the 3♣ bid either, it's the idiotic 4♣ that missed the grand. Why not the obvious 3♥ followup?
  15. Virgo, I've posted the very same thing. I get so infuriated by the dumb bot that I forget to play the hand.
  16. Stephen, I don't see that option for Bridge 4 or Just Play Bridge. Is this intended just for robot tournaments?
  17. Maybe Gubbo foresaw the double squeeze. after 7 rounds of spades this is the position: [hv=pc=n&s=s9hk876532dtcqt86&w=saj87hjtd986cakj7&n=s2h94dkq7532c9543&e=skqt6543haqdaj4c2&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=1s3h4hp4np5hd5np6cp7sppp&p=s9sas2s3sjd2s4h2s8d3s5h3s7d5skh5sqh6d6d7sth7d8h4s6dtht]399|300[/hv] Now the A♦ squeezes South out of his club guard. Followed by the A♥ which then squeezes North out his club guard. A simple finesse of the J♣ then brings in four club tricks for the contract.
  18. I wish there was a way to directly post this hand instead of reproducing it; [hv=pc=n&s=sakj3hat432daj75c&w=s74hj8765dt3cak64&n=s982hkq9dq986cq85&e=sqt65hdk42cjt9732&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=1hp2hp3dp4hp6hppp&p=dtdqd4d5hks5h2h5s2s6sas4h3h6h9c2s8stsjs7h4h7hqc3d6d2djd3hah8c5c7dahjd8dkcac8c9htd7c6d9cts9sqskc4s3ckcq]399|300[/hv] 1) Who leads a doubleton into a long suit game try and acceptance? 2) Who would not lead a high club? Why couldn't two clubs cash off the top? 3) Who pitches at trick two a spade from Q10xx instead of a club from J109xxx? 4) Why do the bots usually double dummy me and then play like this?
  19. You got to your 4-2 fit so what's the problem? Of course, if you always play 3nt then you don't have to worry about GIB's abysmal bidding.
  20. Stephen, how/where did you find out that GIB plays a double of 4♦ as point showing and not as penalty?
  21. It is inconceivable that Gibbo would play 4♦X as anything other than penalty. If you don't penalty double with this hand because you are afraid that the opponents may make it then you are playing losing bridge.
  22. 1♦=Minor suit opening--3+ D; 11-21 HCP; 12-22 total points 1♥= one over one--4+♥ 6+ total points 4♦= Agressive weak jump overcall--7+♦ 11-HCP; 3+ total points 4♥= twice rebiddable 13+ total points I should have made it if I wasn't so disgusted with the failure to double 4♦. [hv=pc=n&s=st87haqj732dckqt4&w=saj3h9da9876532c3&n=sq52hk64dkqjt4cj5&e=sk964ht85dca98762&d=n&v=n&b=5&a=1dp1h4dpp4hppp&p=c3c5cac4c2ckh9cjd5dkh5h7had2h4h8cqd3s2c6ctd6s5c7s7s3sqskhthqd7h6s8sjhks4dqs6stdasad4s9h2hjd8dtc8h3d9dj]399|300[/hv]
  23. If dummy wins the trick two ♦ shift the squeeze still operates.
  24. Well, I guess I am showing my age as I quit playing tournament bridge in the 70's. The original New Minor Forcing only applied after opener had bid a minor, hence the "new". We did play 2♣ as artificial after 1♥-1♠-1nt which was long before Gazilli, but it was never considered to be part of New Minor Forcing.
  25. The bot opens 1♥ first chair, I respond 1♠ on KQJ98-8-AQ65-Q98. The bot answers with 1nt and I have to pick a bid. 2♦ 8+ total points, 3♦ bar bid 6-4 6 total points, 3♠ not forcing. The only forcing bid is 2♣ described as New Minor Forcing, 4+♠,11+ points. Except a minor has never been bid so how can it be New Minor??
