4♦, hoping to hear a heart cue? The worst case scenario is when partner opts to not cue hearts with Kxx, x, KQJxxx, AKx I could be convinced 3♠ followed by 4♦ is right if that seems to better deny a club control. I don't know if that's a stronger auction than 4♦ directly though.

Agree with your bidding thus far, though sometimes partner has a spade single suiter with short clubs and we don't have a way to use our clubs if we play in spades and a heart is led. This is maybe unlikely based on the bidding though? If we assume partner has his bid, then 5NT as pick-a-slam comes to mind (surely this can't be some sort of grand try given we limited our hand with our opening and tried to sign off or penalize them 3 times) Clearly partner has Qxxxxxxx in spades and out though :P

Isn't 3NT better than 6NT on board 8 since you have to bring in spades for no losers and avoid a club loser, which will happen on logical play every once in a while?

Maybe this is a silly comment (feel free to lol) but on board 5 6NT from the N is superior to any other slam because it will take more points any time it is let through, which is just as often as any other slam? Also, not sure how much more work this is, but is it possible to get what each pair bid on each hand? I am relying only on memory as to what my side bid and I'm getting old. EDIT: on the other hand spade slams are likely to be played from the South, where a diamond might be lead at trick 2 more often due to the bidding, so idk.

Penalty, we can still have 3 trump tricks on this auction. Especially since we've limited our hand TWICE (once with opening, once with 2♥) this is penalty.

Or you could just let us play 4♥ :D

A) for reference, and B ), because Han's little story is what happened to us, if my memory serves me: 1♣-(P)-1♠-(3♠) 4♥-(4♠)-5♥-AP 1♣ was strong and 1♠ showed a GF with 5+ ♥s I'm okay with our bidding so long as that's what the script was intended to be (a raise to 4♠)

I assume you mean 2♦ and not 4♦? We were not playing Bart here. 2♦ would be NF for us.

Hopefully if any action creates a GF partner is still willing to stretch to make a call and isn't stuck bidding only on 8 or more points. Hopefully this is not your agreement over 2♠ as well. I would pass in my methods, in yours I'm more tempted to X (anything else is insane) but I still like pass a little better, maybe +200 will be a good score, and sometimes righty has a good hand too. Over 2♠ this is an auto-X.

"Need" is a strong word, but it's always a possibility to consider making your "opening bids", especially in the majors, be more akin to overcall strength than full openers. This is tougher for the minors because you might need to make convenient minor full opening bids and it can be harder to distinguish them from overcall-style openings.

Prefer this, but would bid 1♠ with 4♠ and a balanced hand. If you aren't playing 2NT as a forcing raise and are instead using it as nat balanced GF, then I think your club length increases to 4 or 5? I would bid 2♣ on that last hand, partner knows I can have it and heck, sometimes it stops them from leading clubs against NT ;P

Spades might have been 5-1 or something as well, and I'm pretty sure the AQxxx of diamonds was over dummy's suit, but it was ugly. Transition to an ATB if you'd like: who is more of a goon? EDIT: I will add that North after the hand admitted he got greedy looking for a good MP score, so even if you don't agree with his thinking, he was "thinking"

If you are going to reverse on this hand and if 2NT is forcing, then 3NT is absurd except against very bad players at MP, and even then its not good. It is never right against anyone of any competence or at IMPs. Partner shows 6-5 with this and we have a great hand for diamonds and a terrible one for NT, so we need a forcing 4♦ to be bid after 3♥. Opening 1♦ is also terrible, if our suit disparity was greater I could at least buy it but the extra diamond doesn't justify making your life more difficult.
