  1. For crap hands 1NT - (X) - 2♦ would be diamonds and a major. For stronger hands - no we dont have cheaper minor stayman and there is no way of handling diamonds and a major easily.
  2. Okay, it loses, LHO following. The 10♥ is returned. It appears that LHO has KQJxxxx of spades! Continue?
  3. [hv=d=w&v=b&n=s85ha2dkj9865ck52&s=sa6hkj43da4cjt743]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You are declarer in 3NT, after west opens 2♠, partner bids 3♦ and you bid 3NT. Plan the play after K ♠ lead, 10 from RHO, Q continuation, 9♠ from RHO.
  4. I'll add that over a normal balancing seat 1NT, we play stayman/transfers. Also, we rarely have transfer auctions (only recently did we put transfers into our precision 1NT 3rd/4th seat). So, hey, its not so surprising we didnt have an agreement about a 2NT superaccept after transfers.
  5. You are correct, we play DONT escapes. 3♦ there does look to be a singlesuiter. 1NT - (X) - 3♦ would be to play, however - making this sequence quite hard to figure out. Seems that partner has at least an invitational hand with diamonds?
  6. You hold as west [hv=d=s&v=e&s=skq53hkq32dj7cqt5]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] South passes, you open 1NT, 11-13, may have a 5 card major. North doubles (pen). Partner passes (forcing to redouble - either to play or to scramble a fit). South bids 2♣. You pass, north bids 3♣. Partner bids 3♦. You and south both pass, and north bids 4♣. What is going on here? Do you X? Or do you pass. NB: The 4♣ poll option was is for after p's 3♦ bid.
  7. The problem is, for our normal uncontested auctions Over a 1st/2nd seat 11-13 NT, a GF relay. Over a 3rd/4th seat 14-16 1NT, transfer.
  8. Playing against a forcing pass system non-vul/multiway club system vul, you hold as west [hv=d=s&v=e&s=sq5ha9843dj42ca63]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]. South opens 1♥, either 5-9 not extreme shape or 10-15, 6+ clubs. You and partner have agreed to use the suggested defence given by the opps for their fert bids, including this 1♥, and so you pass. LHO also passes. Partner bids 1NT, 12-15. South passes, and you bid 2♦, meaning it as a transfer. Partner took it as a GF relay, and bid 2NT (4 spades, <4 hearts). Since partner when super-accepting transfers has never in your partnership life ever bid 2NT, are you allowed to then see that partner responded as to a GF relay? Thus allowing you to bid 3♣ to determine partner's heart length. Or would you do something else. I bid 3NT.
  9. As west, dealer, you are lucky enough to hold [hv=d=w&v=b&s=shkq632daqj75432c]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]. What do you decide to open?
  10. Playing precision of course it shows extra shape. Any maximum without much shape would only bid 2♦.
  11. You hold [hv=d=e&v=n&s=saq4hadq873cqj874]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] as west. Partner opens 1♦, 0+, 11-15 one of a) 14-15 balanced b ) two suited no 5CM or 6Cm c) Three-suited including 5431s no 5CM The bidding proceeds 1♦ - p - 2♣ - X 2♦ - p Your call?
  12. You hold [hv=d=n&v=b&s=s5hajt7daj8cq9872]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] as west. Partner opens 1♠, 11-15, 5+ suit. You bid 1NT, 5-12, forcing. Partner bids 3♦. Your call?
  13. You hold [hv=d=e&v=e&s=sk764hakj73dtckq5]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] as west. Partner opens 1♦, 0+ 11-15, one of a) 14-15 bal b ) two suited no 5CM or 6Cm c) three suited including 5431s no 5CM It goes 1♦ - p - 1♥ - 1♠ 2♣ - p - 2♠ - p 3♣ - p - Your call?
  14. Playing in the Open Interstate Teams Selection stage II trials, you hold [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sqj97542hjdaq4caj]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] as dealer. You open 1♠, precision, 11-15 5+ suit. Partner responds 1NT, 5-12, forcing. Your rebid?
  15. Pass and pass. You and partner probably have 9 tricks in hearts; they probably have a 9 card spade fit and you and partner a 8 card heart fit. 17 total tricks = they're probably 1 down.
  16. Double. Partner's 3rd seat 1♥ opening can be highly variable, and your hand is very defensive despite the 4 hearts.
  17. Low heart. Looks like they have a trump loser + a heart loser, maybe two heart losers if they misguess. From the bidding it looks like they have the diamonds well stopped (probably A and K of diamonds). They may be able to pitch a losing heart(s) on the clubs.
  18. 1♠ or pass both look reasonable. 4♠ is just a 'flip a coin' gamble.
