  1. Quite curious as to what happened then, if Fantoni claimed that the organisers assured them that there was no problem?
  2. Duck the king doesn't sound very grammatically correct to me! Voted for the second as I think the first should be 'duck(ing) to the K'. That said, I am not very convinced that the second option is right!
  3. Seems to me you can vote for both.
  4. Congrats Fred and the rest of your team as well! Well done!
  5. The full hand and what happened at the table: [hv=d=s&v=n&n=sa742hj5daj53c732&w=sqt8h876dt6cqjt96&e=sj95hakq93dq942ck&s=sk63ht42dk87ca854]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] P-P-1♦(1)-1♥ X-P-1♠-2♥ 3♦-P-3♠(2)-P 4♠(3)-P-P-X AP (1) - Very aggressive 3rd seat (2) - Trying to get more points for making (3) - 3♠ showed extra, so let's go game Of course, this was not a huge success.... (I was North. I don't deny being faultless in this sequence.)
  6. Nay, "Airport runway" is used more often in that context.
  7. For the doublers: LHO passes, partner bids 1♠ and RHO bids 2♥. What do you do now?
  8. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sk63ht42dk87ca854]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] You pass, LHO passes, partner bids 1♦, RHO bids 1♥, now what do you bid? Playing 5 card majors, strong NT, short club (1♦ promises at least 4)
  9. Seems like in the UK none of my partners have argued against A for Att, K for Count, so I presume that's pretty "standard", however I might be wrong. In Singapore, well, er, I have seen all kinds of treatment so it's hard to say. Besides, very few people have a convention card! I have no idea if it is superior, I just find it easy to remember.
  10. Good to hear! I do agree as well that 5♠ should stand.
  11. I do know in Singapore you can get fined VPs for offences like handphones ringing during play or being late for a match. Surely the actions of one person affects the whole team as well here?
  12. Was wondering as well, because Brighton was a month ago!
  13. I might be free, though I would need to have some idea what exactly I need to do!
  14. Enjoy London! YC's a nice club to play at and it's free for students as well ;)
  15. I clicked the 'Like' button. Would lean slightly towards using NMF.
  16. [hv=d=s&v=b&w=saj8h754dak762cq2&e=sqth9dqj84cak9876]266|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] Bidding went: P - 1♦ - 1♥ - 2♥ P - 3♦ - P - 4♦ P - 5♦ - AP Q♥ lead overtaken by the A, low ♠ returned. What do you play now? How do you continue?
  17. It happens, on a good day, your opponent will not lead clubs and you'll be laughing all the way to your 9 or 10 tricks.
  18. I might have missed something, but I'm wondering: didn't the players at the other table count their cards? I am guessing the director threw the board out because the other table saw their cards before counting them?
  19. How did the bidding go? Might help to know if the ♥ lead was more likely to be a singleton.
  20. Well, I am a pretty weak player relatively (don't even think I ever hit 1500) so I was told by my coach to focus on classical openings and Scotch was a pretty good way to keep things simple in terms of memory load as compared to say, Ruy Lopez.
  21. Because I wanted to see first if anyone blasts 6♦. And how smart you are, that was going to be my follow-up question, as indeed, partner will bid 4♥ so how do you continue?
  22. Use the Windows version as well. Let's just say, the main reason why I still prefer it is the fact that it is still more stable than any web browser!
