  1. How do you use R to do that? (Maybe I should learn since I am starting university next year!) mikeh: I agree that DD doesn't take in a lot of factors...but just wanted to get a general idea of where the deal is heading...
  2. Apologies if someone has asked this before or there is info in some other post, I couldn't really find any good info on this. I've seen simulations being talked about in quite a number of posts. So my question is, how do you guys usually set one up, what programs do you use etc. Wanted to test a specific hand, but so far I haven't found any good ways of doing so. Tried using Richard Pavlicek's Deal Finder, but problem is I still have to sift through the double dummy analysis myself.... Thanks.
  3. LOL. I don't really follow F1 very closely but I do read some stuff about it in the papers...seems to me that this year is full of funny happenings.
  4. Harald wins I believe =) Great faith in your fellow countrymen!
  5. First, this is obviously a personal opinion. I don't speak for Fred or BBO or any other organization. It's certainly true that BBO is a private corporation and can do whatever it wants as long as it doesn't violate laws in the USA. But for BBO to make any other decision than to follow the WBF policies in regard to this matter could displease the WBF, Zone 6, and member NBOs thereof. This wouldn't be good for BBO's business. Fnally, look at the WBF web page for the NBO for Taiwan, the Chinese Taipei Contract Bridge Association. If this is used as the official name of the NBO in Taiwan, I don't think Fred and/or BBO should be criticized for using this name. I realize this is a complex issue with strong feelings on all sides, but I don't think BBO Forum is the appropriate place to argue about it. -Bob Well said. Let's not get politics involved into this.
  6. I demand a refund! :P Who expected Italy to be knocked out so soon?
  7. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough: I meant game-forcing opening hands, i.e. you pick up a hand and you already want to force to game without knowing anything about partner's hand.
  8. How do you define one? HCP? Losing trick count? Other methods?
  9. MickyB and Kueh both told me pass as well, so pass seems to be the majority vote here. I opened 3D. You wouldn't believe what my two opps (LHO a former international and RHO currently still one) told me I should have bid.
  10. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=skj932hdqjt9853c4]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv]
  11. Oops! I wasnt aware but I am still sticking to my prediction.
  12. My Try: Bermuda Bowl Q-Finalists: USA1 China Canada Ireland Semi-Finalists: Poland Netherlands Runner-up: USA2 Winner: Italy
  13. ...Then shouldn't opponents be looking at profiles as well too? But I definitely agree that the TD was being overboard.
  14. I could easily come up with reasons on why one shouldn't ask for a score reset in that case.
  15. Yup I do that sometimes when there are really slow players or some connection problems.
  16. Thought of that as well...but can't seem to find a plausible layout for the squeeze to operate.... 8 ♠s in 1 hand is a lot...
  17. The weak point count, weak ♦ suit and 3 card support doesn't cut it for me. I take 2♥.
  18. Both ideas sound really good... BBO doesn't seem to be very friendly to the multiple windows idea though...
  19. My concern regarding bidding 1♥ is that partner might lead a ♥ if opponents buy the contract and he is on lead...
  20. Hmm thanks for all the replies. I played my first IMP pairs tournament today, 2 sessions, with a friend of mine (but first time we have actually sat down as partners) and we got....-112 IMPs. Lol. Interestingly, the pair that won only obtained an average of slightly more than 1 IMP per board. (~56 IMPs over 54 boards)
