  1. I'd only accept 4♥ if I had a hand where I'd expect to beat 4♥ enough to score better than our game and not make slam. Then I'd accept 4♥ and double. That's to me the logical reason to accept an unsufficient bid here - I don't think the extra space will be important. Thus accept followed by double is business. In practice I can't see that happen..... Btw, you can't be sure to be able to double 5♥ for penalty, since 4♥ can be replaced with a pass.
  2. I always raise with four. Even vs a light opener game might still be on, eventhough odds are heavily against. And never let opps in too easy.
  3. You do have an agreement, but its terms aren't clear. Do you think they are clear? What would you bid over 5♥ if you held 3 keycards for instance?? I'd double, showing 0 or 3 KC of course. B) Btw, I play 1430, but not here.
  4. Clearcut pass. Why anyone would overcall now is beyond me.
  5. 6♥ showing odd keys and a void is normal? Depend upon where you live. Here the 6-level show 2KC and a void, 5NT an odd number and a void. :)
  6. With my favourite partner I'd bid 2♣ transfer over 1♠.
  7. You describe agreements similar to what I use in one partnership. 3♥ is invitational.
  8. 3♥ for me (=void), but then my 1♦ opening is non-standard, showing 4441 with a singleton ♣, 5+ diamonds unbalanced or 18-19NT with 5c♦.
  9. This looks absolutely trivial to me. Automatic 1♥, never considering any other call. (Of course I'd bid 1♦ with one of my regulars since transfers apply.)
  10. Opposite Axxx void Axxxx Axxx we want to bid the grand. Need to get cooperation from partner below game level here. As Justing I'll start with 3♥. (I'd like 3♠ to show a void.)
  11. Precisely! That's why I bid 2♣ now and follow up with a double later. Partner will know I've got a balanced hand with 4c♣, no ♠ stopper and 9-10 hcp. wtp? B)
  12. Dont try it with me, we'd be in a ♥ slam B) That would be fine with me, provided you had AKJxx or something like that in hearts. :D
  13. It's so insane that it just has to be true. Even you couldn't come up with it, Ken. B)
  14. In these days with no "standard" meaning for a negative double of 1♥ you should tell what this double mean. B) I assume it shows exactly 4c♠ which used to be the standard meaning. In that context 2♥ should be GF with support, assuming 3♦ would be invitational. I'd be tempted to rebid 3♣, but partner might read this as 2254, so I'll go with 3♦.
  15. I miscliked other. 5♣ is a cuebid for hearts in my methods. 3♣ is 55 GF and 3♥ sets trump.
  16. huh? What's wrong with 1NT? If pard passes, it probably has a play for. If he moves over this, you have an easy 2/3♠ expressing doubt on the stopper. If LHO bids 2♠ you have an easy dbl to show a max. RHO is probably broke and LHO probably have a 6-bagger. If partner's got a singleton spade he'll expect wasted values if I bid 1NT. We might easily miss a good partscore or game if I bid 1NT. And no, I don't expect the auction to end here.
  17. 4♦ would be a natural slam try for me. I'd not do it with this suit I guess, but it's close.
  18. I'll pass over 2♠ and bid 3♣ (natural and values - playing lebensohl) over partners double.
  19. I'd prefer 2♣ and double now. Having doubled first I'll still double now. X=7 5♣=2 pass=1 4♠=0
  20. I won't be jumping with this distribution for sure. So it's got to be 1NT or 2♣. I think 2♣ will give me another chance (I'll double next if possible) whereas 1NT might defenitely give me a headache next time around.
  21. I haven't promised a 5th club or a singleton diamond. 4♣ seems called for.
