  1. A really tough one, especially at MPs. I think 4♠ is better than double. Don't imagine anything else.
  2. Online, it's possible for a table to play on for a long time. It's a little different IRL. But I can remeber an easter some 25+ years ago. I, my parents and an old friend of ours went to his cabin for 3 days. As he was in his mid-70s, he was allowed to decide how much bridge we'd play. Of course that meant we played from early morning to late night all three days. :P If you needed to visit the toilet you had to wait till you were dummy. Same with preparing food etc. We managed 274 boards.
  3. The last part is correct, except that a player born in 1987 who played in a Zonal Championship last year and qualified, is eligible. Same for juniors. Players eligible are those born in 1983 or later, but also players born in 1982 who qualified last year are eligible.
  4. If you're the "right pair" don't you automatically psyche in this situation and take the average or average-plus? No, you don't. At least where I play that's the case.
  5. For that matter, the player may have seen 2NT, correctly valued his hand, but just pulled the wrong card and didn't notice it immediately. But then he can alway correct before partner makes a bid. Both in the 1997 and in the 2007 law.
  6. Lol. I would not even pass this hand opposite myself, 3rd favorable at MPs, and I preempt a LOT of junk in that position OK. But then you haven't seen it all yet - far from. :P
  7. Since you'd declare 6♥ yourself, I can't understand that sentiment Han. :P
  8. If partner bids a minor with these methods why not bid 6♥? He will know they aren't better since you didn't bid it over 4NT, and if he doesn't like hearts he can always suggest spades himself on the way to 6NT. That must be a better strategy. Agree Josh. You should rebid 6♥ over 6m. Obviously a little too tired. Soon getting to bed.
  9. Our agreements here is to answer to RKCB at 5-level and bid natural with a good 5c-suit at 6-level to suggest another strain when accepting. I'd accept with this hand. The hearts aren't strong enough to suggest 6♥ and I'd not show my number of KC, since that suggest 3c support. I'd thus try 5NT - pick a slam. If partner suggest a minor suit I'm correcting to 6♠, which partner then passes or recorrects to 6NT. If partner suggest 6♥ I'm obviously passing.
  10. I'd double playing weak NT. Playing a strong NT I'd pass opposite myself, double opposite more solid openers.
  11. Clear 4♠ opposite myself. 3♠ or 4♠ opposite some I know. Autopass opposite just a few. I voted 4♠.
  12. Gave the problem to a friend of mine - a strong player. Easy 4♥ for him.
  13. As one who is punting game a lot, I must say I'm surprised with the number of people raising on this. I'm a passer here, and I don't think it's that close.
  14. I'm counting on partner to be able to see my void. Thus he'll be expecting ♣ trick(s) in his own hand when leading a club. So I'll discard a diamond on general principles. The real hand is just crazy though. Not leading a ♣ with the north hand is quite hopeless, and declarers play is totally insane, to put it mildly.
  15. I play 2♥ in 4th seat as 12-15(16). Sure I'd open some 11-counts too. This hand isn't close IMO.

Playing a unbalanced 1♦ opening, It would be close between double and 3♦. Playing more standard I'd no doubt make a negative double here.
  17. Can't be natural to me. Without discussion I'd take it as a cuebid agreeing spades. I guess that's how I'd play it after discussion too, btw.
  18. I'd never have rebid 3♣ unless it was GF, thus 4♣ IS forcing now. Anyway, I bid 5♣ now.
  19. I'd open this 2NT 22-24 with my regular. With most pick-ups I'd show the same hand by opening 2♣ and rebidding 2NT if allowed.
  20. Over 2NT we play: 3♣ = Puppet, old standard variation. Have to go via 3♣ to raise to 3NT. 3red = transfer 3♠ = both minors, slam try 3NT = 5♠4♥ game values only 4m = natural slam try Not very sofiticated, I agree. But mostly it works out, eventhough there's definitely problem hands.
  21. Clearly penalty. Though I've seen players mistake this as t/o. Normally their partner can diagnose this by looking at their own hand, but not always.
  22. I pass. The last double isn't penalties, it just shows a huge hand. I expect to beat 2♣ if partner's got what he promised. And it's hard to see where we'd do better than defending. Partner had his two first doubles, but nothing to add to that.
