Agree with double.

From toronto regional

I double. This is basically t/o, but partner only takes out with an unbalanced hand. If he does, I've got good support. If partner passes I feel pretty good too. -
to pass or not to pass
skjaeran replied to Codo's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I'm a passer here. If we can make a partial 3♣ will mostly go down. Making game is heavily odds against, so I'll be content to do what I believe gives ut the best shot at a positive score. -
It seems east and west wasn't on the same page here, or maybe both uncertain of the meaning of both their own and partners bids over 4♥. To me 5♣ is a slam move with hearts as trump. 5♦ is last train, saying west has slam interest, but not enough to just bid 6♥. In that context easts hand should imply that 6♥ is on and a grand possible. So 5♥ is just not possible to me. I guess I'd bid 5♠ over 5♦, to keep the ball rolling... The alternative would be to just sign off with 6♥.

Your last word implies you're talking ACBL-land here. Thus I've got no idea and don't care much. Surely this could never be an issue anywhere else.
-
Well, it certainly was the best approach facing those opponents, and that's what counts. :)
-
I'd bid 5♥ directly (or maybe 6♥ once in a blue moon...).
-
Han, maybe you should slightly consider smileys after your jokes? All regulars here know that we can't expect a completely serious post from you, of course. But what about anyone else dropping by? :)

If we overcall 4♥ and then double 5♦, it's ridiculous to convert with the actual north hand - 5♥ is plainly obvious!

After we open 2C (strong)
skjaeran replied to y66's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
What does a 3♥ call mean for you over 2♦? Most play it as a self supporting suit. I can't imagine this hand wouldn't qualify. It wouldn't qualify because you can easily belong in a minor suit, and because 3H not only promises a self supporting suit but it demands cuebidding which is not what you want to happe on this hand. People over use this bid on random 2C openers with "solid" suits wayyyy too much. That's probably because they get such a suit so seldom... Totally agree with Justin. -
That's really overstating our values....
-
Pass is not forcing here. I'm bidding 6♦ now. Partner can take this out to 6♠ occasionally (not often).
-
I'm an overcaller here. I agree it's a pretty ugly suit, but you aren't dealt those pretty KQTxx suits all the time. It might be our hand, and if it is, I'd better get in there at once. Fast in - fast out if it turns out to be opps hand after all.
-
Well, that really depends upon what hands you expect partner to rebid 2♥ on. If that's frequently done on a 5-card suit, 2♠ is blindingly obvious. If you expect a 6-card suit from partner and short spades, pass will more often be the winning bid. Well that's a matter of judgment not system (obviously no BART here since we would have been told.) So I guess it's another way of me saying it's a wtp 2♠ over the hands on which I believe people should be judging to bid 2♥. I only disagree with your "wtp" part.....

5♥ for me.

I'd most probably bid 2NT, 4c support inv+. I'd have other systemic alternatives too, depending on which regular I partner, but would go for 2NT as the best alternative. I'd need another trump to bid 4♠, except from that, the hand is ok for that approach too.
-
I think it's very close between pass and 2♠. If I was sure we should stop at the 2-level, I'd probably pass now. But we still just might have a game, so I'll take another bid; 2♠.
-
A pass would obviously be forcing now. As hcp and distribution goes, we're dead minimum. However, we've got very nice cards in both partners suit. Thus, a double is out IMO. So should we make a forcing pass or take another bid? I think I'll make a forcing pass now. And pass a double from partner.
-
I mostly agree with Ken. However, I might bid 1♦ playing Walsh, depending on suit qualities and what follow-up agreements we have. Playing T-Walsh, there's no doubt about responding 1♥ with 4-4 in the pointed suits.
-
You're right, since we'll be on lead here.

That's not quite the story. He had to resign because he was caught in hypocrisy. And because it was with a prostitute, which is illegal. Huh, I thought hiring a prostitute was legal in US. I thought he had a prostitute come across a state border, which for some reason IS illegal. Maybe I misunderstood the case - it's not very interesting to me, so I haven't followed it closely.
-
I'm a bidder here: 2NT.
-
I'm certainly taking another bid. My choice is 5♦. I relly don't understand why I overcalled 1♥ and not 2NT.

Han, I hope you had a great day yesterday!
