  1. Recently my partner has perverted our 1NT:10-12 bal with three openings with a single in one 28-board session. Must I now alert opponents that I know her tendency to vary the balanced agreement? Or was this just her deviations bunched into one session? Aside. If this is our de facto agreement: any 10-13 is this GCC legal? Mid-chart/Super Chart/ Disallowed?
  2. Even a 6th D and 3cM I waver. Can partner produce 4DT +my 3 trump tricks? That's for -1. Out the pan into the fire for me.
  3. Did I have a fit-bid 2S over 1H? This is weak for that action and need to slow partner from slamming but may find double fit.
  4. Do your asks much lower, even reserve some jump-shift for key ask.
  5. Is 3C 2nd neg? So 4C is the first bid with positive clubs? I like 3D, get my 7-suit in, S-fit next. See where that goes: partner knows DA,K gold but not CAKQ dross.
  6. 4333-14 pass first round. Now opponents quitting at 1D, try 1H. Just entering the auction tells partner some stuff so he can try 1S on his 5xS if not liking H. Both Majors are unclaimed by opponents, so likely ours.
  7. I want to cue 5S. Bid as if slam is on.
  8. I agree kenresford. Whatever partner tried, I have 2xA, HK behind H-bid another K. Super defense for what I have so far done. "Partner, what is your best guess?"
  9. Partner sure looks to have a trump tenace. Twice not leading D: opening lead then in HQ. Rise SA for D-x.
  10. Even expecting a Majorish 14-15 minimum for partner's Double, 5S can't be unreasonable. I do have SQ +HQ +C-single. My fear is partner with little more than minimum for 3-bid takeout double gets rosey eyes for slam.
  11. Only vested interest grammarians and lawyers could possibly discuss spelling. Spelling: the massive waste of a grade schooler's time. Instead of letter-for-sound as originally intended letting written expression immediately follow the letters-for-sound and freeing school time for compositional thinking, let them suffer SPELLING. Instead of lie detectors(maybe retesting) cutting massive expense from law enforcement and crime investigation, let lawyers hold their vested interest in arguing and paid for each argument. Smart people wasted on counter-productive lawyering.
  12. Partner jumped to 5D knowing 6D needed the perfect max so no blab take game. BUT I have the perfect max 6D.
  13. jlall nailed this one. What 11's are opened? Only good prime cards and honored hearts or many non-descript just having 11hcp? Clearly moving up if good 11 is certain. Simple preference 2H, but 2S with Q.
  14. What was my A-ask slam try over 2NT? I try that instead of 4H.
  15. Throw a spanner 2S bid. When it's found out, partner knows my escape was Clubs.
  16. Agree 6C way too appealing to show S-stops. 2xD-ruffs sets up 3+D, top honor in 4-support and HA +SKQ. 7C closer to best than 3NT.
  17. Where are the hearts? Partner had a chance to suggest 4xH, did not. Opponents both know hearts are waste after my T/O double yet 2S raise AND 4S jump. H: 4-5-3-1 (4Sjump) seems likely. That's 2xH +SA to lose =5C fails. Verses 4S: SK +HA +CK + nXD? Looks no need sac. Extra (to me) for T/O dbl and partner has something, so act. X stands out.
  18. 1st meta-agreement on forcing pass: below 2S ON; above 3S ON; best guess at 3-level. 2nd meta-agreement on penalty bonanza tries -since opponents often "blow smoke" in what should be competing: take penalty unless their bids helped us evaluate borderline game with all honors working. Typical game try looks first to penalize. Thus bidding on has some slam suggesting value. 3rd meta-agreement is don't lose transfer to tenace hand nor "here's my stuff" inputs. Their bids won't switch off our low exploring game/slam methods. I like xfer positives (some allowance for not being shut out: S-AQxxx is not neg). Pass fits/tolerates spades. Double warns no 3+Spades. Pass/X ambiguous by strength but bounded by not another bid. Biggest thing is accepting not perfect, but reasonable results.
  19. How about 6C on the example hands?
  20. Lead a diamond. Hope to force an early discard decision on 3N's side stops.
  21. If I X, then what do I do over 3S? Hope partner intended X then suit? Or now he's picking his better M fearing to defend? 4C now showing I had H-interest all along? Let partner rebid 6xS? I like 4C. It is the suit I have. And I did bid up here at the 4-level.
  22. Many tricks with a fit, so start looking with 1S and rebid H. To 4N, did my fit-seek now quit.
  23. What is my solid suit with side A/void opening? To ask cue A or deny A.
  24. Yup, yup a problem. But might Smith echo help distinguish big from little esp by opening leader? Second, is this problem resolution aimed at too small a target? Ie much effort refining opening leads for a rare problem?
  25. Double, but I have xfer responses with lowest xfer maybe joker. This allows partner to xfer into a red with AQxxx alerting me to try higher. Essentially I allow HA +DA +5-red suit to show and if not 3NT next.
