6C. East knows which red to lead. Put West to the guess.
-
Why restrict Leb-ish 1NT to only over a T/O Dbl? Won't it also help refine "how much fit for an overcall?" even "how much stuff toward game?" Always able to quit at 2-level on skinny overcalls. Often able to find double fits.
-
Agree JLOGIC. If partner may have every A+K in the deck for a 1H overcall, then this SK under opening bid +HAJ-5th 4C splinter isn't just blabbing. Pick away any South side honor and 4H wins.
-
E-W to 6H. Making as the 5th Diamond sets up except on an opening Club lead. Do N-S sac? No, try defense [lead a club!?]. My partnership would already be in 4S before East bids. ** FrancesHinden doesn't like a 3H raise with 5-trumps to A; a 5-side suit; a single in oM; a passed hand. What not to like? Too tame?? Get to a borderline slam as here - only opening C-lead sets? "5-5 come alive"
-
I have a double as xfer to Spades - part of a 4-suit transfer scheme in competition. 5-5 with void in opponents' bid suit => this hand has offence tricks! "5-5 come alive" I'm buying that.
-
5H. But my double would be card-showing: 2+ diamond losers. So my partner knows I have 0-1 diamond with some stuff.
-
On #1, I have a 3H rebid that asks prime cards to go 4H. The theory is no help suit tried so scatterred A,K needed. On #2, try 2C->2S, maybe partner can see 6xS for tricks - I surely see no side entry to this hand, 3NT must have Spades come in, so I'm sorely tempted to insist 4S if game.
-
Do you need to distinguish 3S=5+S from X=3 or 4xS? Treat this double like a responsive double, ie. 4xS. That frees up Pass as just not liking this auction, 4m as ONLY this suit.
-
Is this with a criss-cross Major transfers scheme? Esp 1H->Spades and 1S->Hearts? That response scheme puts a lot onto no-5xM hands to do something informative/useful. Like this 2D. I like 2M rebid to ask support AND how good are your Diamonds, rather as Ogust to a weak2: step 1: no goods to show; step 2: Qxx support, not 2-tops in Diamonds; etc.
-
When you relay that may answer above 3NT, can you land in 4NT or is that up-going? That seems to me to be the constraint feared: ask, then above 3NT with a poor answer can't land.
-
No, Opener showed a balanced hand, not stops. Hand type is more important than stoppers. *** So 1C and rebid 1S will never be balanced concentrated honors in the blacks? *** I don't think that's the intent of your generalization: *Nt shows bal shape *** not scatterred stops*. *** Toss a platitude is nor reasoning. Flesh shape not stops out. *** Again, NOT bal for in 1C and rebid 1S????
-
3S: splinter raise means they are looking up. I'll try 4S. Leave them no Q-bid below keys-ask. Their guess.
-
Try zoom for strength with the assumed pattern. Now non-zoom is a better/different pattern. This constrains the shape relay to use only a few bids, while freeing bids above those saved for 'continue patterning out' to zoom strength for that assumed pattern. So, eg. 1435 zooms above the shape bids. 1426, 0436 is constrained to the next bid and +next bid +1 (however many bids are reserved for non-assumed shapes)
-
I see 2 tricks certain and a likely C-ruff. I have a trick above a minimum Neg-X. So 2S. I hate the Kiss-of-death D:xxx, but partner is still there.
-
Is it so rare that 5+level doubles suggest two losers in opponents suit Or put another way no control in their suit? I play FP ON. I won't suggest H-control with pass then bid. I would have doubled 5H last round: "partner, I see no higher"
-
Where is keys-ask? Only 4NT? May be forced too high. I think the step above 4C=not 3NT, should be Key-ask.
-
South has blacks stopped that he cannot envision open 1C rebid 1S? Instead he shows stops with 1NT? Bid where you live! Peril intended. Peril gotten.
-
In front of partner's overcall, I won't encourage a slam looking at C:xx D:Kx = 3 losers in their mm hand. Given a limit raise+ 2D, this hand is defense: SA +HA. Partner is still aware 5H may make. He decides. Double.

Major Suit Raises in a 5-cd Major System - ACBL

Instead of Good-Bad 3NT, try 3NT as x-minor keys-ask. Even 4 of other minor as keys-ask. I don't see M-try hurt much giving up 3NT Good-Bad. At worst 4NT keys gets to 5M - oops if Q-bids don't warn off slam try. Rethinking this situation, the minor slam try needs to be immediate priority. Thanks for noting this problem.
-
Under competed, now very to-the-point defense needed. I don't like defense when 3H makes. Cheap even 3H-1.

Try GoLady 2C with Toddler 2D> GoLady basically asks trump Q to zoom next feature. No Q to let GoLady describe. Toddler asks second suit or none. Zoom with max. Colin Ward's ideas. -
Why oh why am I so horrible at bidding theory!
dake50 replied to RunemPard's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Common to try a system without any attempt from the system publisher to either state the system's intent-to-gain (partials, better game decisions, clear slam info), nor that systems frequency of those intended gains. I've seen pattern relays out to 7-6-0-0?!! - that should occur this century. Let alone any attempt to compare to a similar system - No "we do this better". Since the bidding theory wasn't published with the system, how does that theory get discussed? -
I like assuming the agreed Major for slam tries. Only 4x starts x-suit slam tries.
-
Partner didn't double to get to a measly 4m did he? What hands for partner would not start with 4D force? Even though 4C accented a 5-suit to the J?? I think he hopes we see D+C galore tricks. Grand may be on!
