  1. Let's try to go step by step : Do you agree about such additional unusual auctions? The Unusual 2NT can also be used after both opponents have bid, as in these situations: 1H Pass 1S< 2NT> or 1H Pass 2H <2NT> or 1S Pass 1NT <2NT> The Unusual 2NT convention is useful because it gives up the strong 20-21 point natural 2NT overcall, which practically never occurs, in exchange for preempting the opponents and paving the way for a possible good sacrifice. For sure I admit 2C ok but double is not my cup of tea. I said i think i saw 2NT as unusual before i touch it (Alloted time problem and was in a hurry to finish in time). So why don't programmer check it and see correct or wrong? Is it really hard to say "sorry, you misread" or "thanks, we will fix it" ? Now, GIB see partner's hand? If the information I posted is correct isn't it supposed to read my holding as 5/5 minors? I thought after opps calls (no matter passed 3rd there - pass is also a call) as posted above similar auctions, so it's still on. Another problem is when GIB plays you cannot quit quickly and join in time for another GIB tournament till that hand finished. Hope Uday and Fred recognize it.
  2. [hv=d=n&v=n&n=s983hqj9653d765c4&w=sa62ht87dqjt8ckqj&e=skhak42dak9432ct2&s=sqjt754hdca987653]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] That's a random teams practice hand on BBO. Sitting at East we couldn't find the best contract in given layout. Tho we gained 15 IMPs i don't count it as a success. Instead it's dead wrong. For this reason I would like to read others tech reviews. Our bidding was : P 1♦ 2♣ Double 2♥ Double 2♠ 2NT P 3nt 4♣ 4♦ P 5♦ AP My thoughts : Playing 2/1 Invite and a few popular gadgets seems partner's Double is a mistake. I would prefer 3♣ or 3NT. If he would bid 3♣ i would read as fit for ♦ suit and a good hand there. I guess with 13 HCP he should not give an invite bid but declare a game contract. That's why i think his 2NT isn't correct. You know, it's easy to think there were 10-12 with double then 2NT. So 17+10/12 = 27/29 just 3NT seemed fine right that moment. And..I think i also wasn't good enough there. Such as 4♥ could work better instead of 5♦ over 4♦. I held 17HCP and 6/4. I have no idea why i underbid a lot. There weren't any firm reason. Meanwhile, people play double to 2♥ penalty? Still unsure. May I have your complete bidding for all players?
  3. I think that's a pass then bid if necessary example. 1st seat, vul vs nonvul not a good idea to start with that in your example.
  4. For 1st post : ie. 1c p p 2c Mich? Dbl + new = big ? So why not un2N same logic? It wld read 5/5 as doesn't see my hand. So to your understanding GIB read my hand as 20-21+GIB held 12= 32, 33. Then 1♠ opener at 1st seat vul vs nonvul with 7,8 HCP? C'mon pls. Dealer obviously West-typo. Big deal ? 2C ok. Was in a hurry, i guess b4 i bid 2N i saw explanation as 'unusual'. Programmer may check the script and post what stated for that call.

  6. I think th age is in mind, if you don't mind so wtp ;) I don't think anybody is able to avoid aging.
  7. [hv=d=s&v=b&s=sj8hqj963da74caj2]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1♥ 2♣ 2♠ Pass 2NT Is this forcing or nonforcing in your book? Say 2/1 in effect, now GF?
  8. Thank you so much Maureen. That's the voice of reason. Wonderful :)
  9. Are you sure ? When opened any range of weak 1NT impossible to make a sound overcall ?
  10. B) I think such things you posted above neither should belong to this topic nor BBF ! How about to practice active ethics ?
  11. How about this one? As easily seen, when opponents won the auction, partner might not be able to find advantageous lead. Such as : Dealer : AKJ2 - 1086 - Q953 - Q7 1♦ 1♥ P 3♥ P 4♥ AP Is that right ? Maybe somebody have similar experience/s like this and would like to share here. On the other hand i would be glad to read some simple example referring a heavy advantage. Thanks !
  12. Hello and welcome :) How about to register BIL (Beginner Intermediate Lounge) on BBO please. Really friendly ambient. Technically a very comfortable area to refresh and improve game skills. There nobody judge another. Instead polite, humble and helpful. Good luck, enjoy.
  13. Advantages/Disadvantages when compared to other 2/1 variations ? Any superior auction worthy to post about 2/1 INVITATIONAL ?
  14. Agreed. Still in my humble library. On the other hand i really wonder, as i posted at start : Have you time to study new nice ideas ? Thanks! Hamdi
  15. I am not an expert but can highly, highly recommend these books by the HOG> Well for sure that books readers have much idea rather than me. Long years ago, (at least 25) i bought one of Reese books published in USA by Sterling&Hayden Co in NY. (It was not cheap, anyway i gifted it to a newly established Bridge Club in Turkiye). Forgive me pls, I would remember wrong, might be 'Advanced Card play' or something like that. I remember amalgam of two books words inside that thick book. It's ok. I m impressed 1st section about card play. Especially admired when Mr Reese admitted a nice defense versus him set his contract. To me that's a rare and elegant case. But I am really sorry, cannot tell same things for bidding recommends in section two. That may because of mostly was busy with studying SEF, then SAYC and finally 2/1 books and European+French+USA monthly magazines though started with ACOL. Victor Mollo :) Okay really fun. During '90 another nice friend went to Germany to have a new business connection. When he returned brought 'Bridge in the Zoo' ? (Again sorry if i remember the name wrong). We tried to review chapters as far as we could. Later on translated into my language. Yes, enjoyed.
  16. Dude this question is straightforward. I would certainly ask that in some other threads, though. As for the question... I would think not. I can imagine a lot of preempt situations where I'd love to know if my partner had a 5cM or whatnot. Anyway in low-level competitive situations it's often easy enough, playing negative doubles or whatever, to determine whether or not partner is likely to even have a FIVE card minor, let alone 3. Thanks you shared :)
  17. No worries :) In fact could be. Believe me i am nearly lost. Such as, this evening we were kibbers on JEC teams. Phil asked to Jason in public not to use 'colour' as he is living in USA. But Larry disagreed and said 'it's ok'(Meanwhile I liked Jason's neat gesture as posted Turkish flag in his profile. During our short and friendly chat i learnt that he had nice impressions about Istanbul. Cool.) Well, i am sorry if there are some grammar errors. I will try to improve, obviously still need some refresh. Thanks for remind :)
  18. Thanks Wesley, Will try to find it. I think Mr Forquet was a famous International Banker, When asked 'which one is harder, bridge game or your professional career', i think his response was ' sure 1st one, it requires more counting'. Nowadays i am busy to read interesting articles, such as differences from old times up to present day about th India culture. Have many nice friends from there living here as international businessmen and we plan to play in another regional after Xmas. As soon as it's over i will also look possibilities to buy some other books posted here for my library. Meanwhile, I am impressed much about "WINNING CARD PLAY" by H.W.K.
