  1. 500ms is not alot of time i think playing online it is the players' responsiblity to ensure they are clicking the correct card, not fred/uday's i think their program tweaking efforts can be better focused on other areas
  2. How do you know partner has ♥J? i don't. i never said i'd bid it expecting to make. i don't know where the missing ace is at any point. ideal includes getting disgustingly lucky. and as you witnessed yesterday, if it's my p running this auction we probably play 6NT anyway lol
  3. i coulda swore i saw someone post a comprehensive list once, but i cannot locate it now. can anyone point me to the thread or anywhere that has a list of the various F-keys and Ctrl-keys and what they do?
  4. with my regular p, assuming ideal conditions (ie, me sober, him concentrating): 1♦ - artificial 16+ 2NT - suit specific point count ask, starts with ♣ by default 3♣ - 0-3 hcp (denies void) 3♦ - asks ♦ hcp 3♠ - 4-6 hcp 4♣ - asks ♥ hcp 4♠ - 7-9 hcp 4NT* - 5♥ * straight blackwood from here on 5NT - 6♥ 7♣
  5. i should have read this thread before i posted in the other one
  6. i'm sorry if this was already brought up, i did scan this topic but didn't scrutinize every post. why not have the server selection automated when you login to balance the load. regardless of which server you are on you can see all people and tables and if you are on bbo1 and join a table on bbo2 you are simply switched - this would slow down table loading slightly, but i don't imagine it should be enough to cause problems. to the end user there would be little to no difference than there is right now. when i move to bbo2 to play the next person to login would be sent to bbo1 to balance the load, etc. even with this scheme, i still think a special server for vugraph is a good idea. $0.02
  7. i think this is a decent suggestion, assuming it's not difficult to code
  8. i often only see references to tournaments here when a player has some type of greivance to sound off, so i figured i would share my first experience with bbo tournaments - a positive one. i've been playing here for a long time, but have little interest in playing a tournament with a pickup partner, and until yesterday my regular partner and i hadn't really considered playing tournaments here (not sure why). yesterday we played in two. first was sfbp's BRidgeBRowser Awareness tournament (imp/survivor) followed up by belladonna's Friends Only tournament (mp). throughout both we ran into friendly opponents, and even friendlier directors, and overall had a great time.
  9. i played a tournament just yesterday and was not able to see the opponent's hands while i was dummy - running a tourney where dummy can see opps hands strikes me as downright silly. perhaps a small code update that allows tourney directors to prohibit dummy chat to table during card play?
  10. perhaps now is a good time to end this thread
  11. 1 good bid and 1 good director decision.
  12. i don't remember when i first came here, but i remember there was only about 300 people online at any given time when i first came over. i was instantly impressed with bbo's superiority over any other online bridge site i've been to. i've never gone back.
  13. i've not had any issues with the forum on any of the browsers you've listed. mind you, i shortcut to http://www.bridgebase.com/forums
  14. i'm at a complete loss, sorry. guess you're stuck entering your name & password ;)
  15. hmm.. mind bender. under both of those tabs, is the "Default" button clickable, or is blanked out? If it's clickable for either/both, try clicking it and then restarting your browser.
  16. the "resend email validation" is only required if you did not receive your original email validation (or one you have started by changing your email address and/or password) and is in no way related to the problem you're experiencing. if you are checking the "remember me" and it isn't remembering you, the problem lies in your browser's cookie settings (or lack thereof). assuming you are using Internet Explorer, you can check your Cookie settings by clicking Tools, Internet Options. If your Privacy and/or Security tabs are showing a level higher than "Medium" this may be the cause of the problem. In most cases you can change these settings to Medium without putting yourself at any risk; alternatively, you can specify to allow cookies for this site under the Privacy tab.
  17. nothing to do with your BBO version as the forum and software aren't directly linked. next time you login, make sure the box to remember you is check-marked. once you do that, the only way you'll not be recognized when you come back is if you delete your browser cookies or click the "Logout" link edit: it should be noted that the link to "resend validation" is only there as a convenience in case you've lost your password, etc. you can just click the Login link instead.
  18. it has been my experience that the skip bid is warning isn't even used properly in f2f bridge. i think it would be a fruitless venture online.
