Too much private chat in lobby
UdcaDenny replied to UdcaDenny's topic in Suggestions for the Software
I prefer the downloaded version. For instance to go to this Forum in the onlineversion I first must log out. Also I dont see how to make teammatches in that version. Maybe its possible but I only see that you can open a table with 4 players. -
There is too much private chat in lobby. This has been going on since BBO started and its strange that nothing has been done to improve this. Players think they chat with a partner and dont know it goes to the lobby. Sometimes you see highly personal chat that would make the messanger very embarrased if he/she knew all can see it. When you click on chat button a big label shud come up telling where this chat is going, to lobby or direct to a private person. That would help keeping private chat private.

As cmjohn says my partner is to clever to say 2 diamonds. He just put his cards on the table to end the game faster as the opponent who took Ace of club didnt know how to continue. My parter have played in the Icelandic national team long time ago and still is sharp in his brain so taking a trick from him was an insult suggesting he could play so bad.

2. T he Director shall not accept any part of a defender’s claim that depends on his partner’s selecting a particular play from among alternative normal* plays.
-
The purpose of this thread is to present the poll results to this TD who is very selfrighteous and stubborn. Maybe he could give an excuse to my partner who got very offended and who dont want to play in this club anymore. He is an old championplayer from Iceland who has played bridge more than 60 years and a very fair player who never use the law to punish opponents. Ive seen him many times telling players who played wrong to just pick up the card without calling TD.

Since I didnt get the information I wanted I want to have just one answer to this. Did the tournament director act correct. Yes or No. A short resume: After third trick in a NT contract when LHO W was on lead my partner declarer S put his cards on the table claiming the rest without saying in what order he would play the cards. He thought it was obvious as he had 10 toptricks regardless of distribution or needing any finess. However RHO E who is a beginner who could not see that protested and said I have the K of D. TD came to the table and asked W what card he would play and he picked a low D from Jxx. My partner was told he must play low on dummy, not taking the obvious Ace, and give E a trick for his K. Law 70 states that TD shud make a fair decision for both sides and that defenders shud play the cards in a normal way and not use the information they got from seeing open hands. It was not the most normal play to continue with a D from Jxx but since W knew that E had the K and Ace was on dummy he did that. Also TD by the law shud ask declarer to repeat how he was going to take his tricks even if he didnt do that when he put down his cards, the opponents didnt ask either. I shud also add to the story that TD and my partner dont like each other and my partner thinks TD took a chance to punish him. So my question is: Was that a correct and fair decision by TD ? Yes or No.
-
Law 70 also states that defending side shud continue the play in a normal way and not use the information they get from seeing all open hands. After Ace of Club W didnt know how to continue and it wasnt normal to play a low D from Jxx. He could go on in S or play a H but now he knew his partner had D King and director allowed him to play D and also forced my partner to play low from the Ace.

Chiang Mai is a city in north of Thailand and we play in an english pub with mostly american and english players. Maybe its possible that TD referred to Law 57 and had the law on his side. Still I think it was kind of greedy since his partner was declarer and they both profited from the judgement. In this case when it is obvious that declarer have the Queen it must be stupid to overtake. This TD also says if the claiming part can play wrong it shall be judged that they must do that. If thats so maybe this rule shud be altered ?
-
This TD in Chiang Mai also have an inclination to apply Murphys Law, if anything can go wrong it will. It is true that he said I take the last trick with Ace Club before his partner followed with an obvious Jack. Why shud he take over when claimer denied the Queen by playing the King. Anyway I think it was very greedy by declarer and his TD partner to clim a trick. By mistake I posted 3 messages too much as I didnt know how to add a Diagram. Is there any way to delete these ?

Forgot to mention it was a NT contract

Declarer S played low H from dummy and when he followed with the 10 E claimed his Ace of C before W played a card. S called TD who by the way was his dummy partner at the table. TD said W could have played wrong overtaking K and give S the last trick with Q. With KQ E would offcource normally play the Q so there is no reason why W shud overtake. Can this be a fair judgement from a playing TD who also benefite from his decision?[hv=pc=n&s=shqtdc&w=shajdc&n=sh32dc&e=shkdca]399|300[/hv]

Just a comment about this D finess. Declarer had the Ace and the Q was on dummy. My point however is that TD never asked how my partner would play the hand but forced him to wrongly underplay the Ace. My partner is also one of the best players in the club and he never takes advantage of other players mistake.
-
Sorry if I didnt mention the layout of the hands but that is not so important. After a spade lead and two rounds of clubs declarer have all remaining 10 tricks. AK of spade, AKQJ of hearts, A of diamond and 3 high clubs. There were no problems going between the hands.
-
Sorry folks if my story wasnt clear enough so I will clarify. The contract was 3NT and the lead was a small S from Qxxx. Dummy had AJx and declarer had Kx on hand. He played the J and followed with a small C to his Q. Dummy had K109xx and hand Q8x. On Q the leading opponent played J from AJ but on third trick was on lead after a second C. So now there were only 10 tricks left and declarer claimed the rest to make 3N+3, totally 12 tricks. TD said if there is a chance that declarer could be unsure of the remaining tricks and go wrong it shud be played that way. After Ace of C opponent played a D. Ace was on dummy and declarer had Q on hand but didnt need it. Now TD said he had to play low from Ace so right hand opponent got for his K. Declarer had AK in S, AKQJ in H, 3 high clubs and the Ace of D, 10 high tricks. To the story shud be added that the TD was also playing and a competitor to us and my partner believed his motive was to give us a bad score. Anyway I think for fairness sake he shud give my partner a chance to tell how he would play the remaining tricks but he didnt.

Im playing live with an old man in Chiang Mai. Playing 3NT he puts his cards on the table after an opponent is in on Ace of Club and says the rest is mine. You can see clearly that he has 3 tricks in C, AKQJ in H, A and K in S and Ace of D, totally 10 of the remaining tricks. He has some problem explaing himself verbally but is clear in his head and he thought the claim was so obvious that he didnt say how he would play so TD arrived to the table as one opponent said "what about my K of D" Now the TD didnt give him a chance to say how he would take his tricks but forced him to play low from the Ace of D to give opponent a trick for the K. Reading law 70 on bridgelaws I find this wrong. There it says that TD shud make a fair decision for both parts.

Curtsolo is right about how Abuse works. See my story "Banned for life ?" in Tournament Direcors Forum. I never had an answer or explanation nor a warning or a second chance which Im told is a customary procedure. Some yellows told me to contact Fred or Uday but they say its not their business to interfere. So where do u go if u feel abused by Abuse ? Anyway I love to play on BBO and will go on doing that as I have many friends here but cant understand that my crime was so bad being banned as TD for life. Love and Peace to all members Udcadenny

I didnt post here to get a discussion about funny redoubles. The reason I did this is that I never got a warning from abuse or a second chance. They never answered my mails 3 years ago and same now, been waiting 2 weeks. Even if this Forum is not the right place I do this because I feel ignored and harsh judged. udcadenny

3 years ago I lost my TD rights for naming a tour NO TURKISH REDOUBLES. Gerardo gave me a message and told me to cancel the tour and I got nervous and didnt find out how to do it before he closed it down. Then he thought I didnt listen but I tried and was not fast enough. I like Turkey and have many turkish friends, also I have an apartment in Alanya and Im not a racist. Bridge is a big part of my life and I love this game but dont like when people gamble too much. Its not poker. After that I asked in lobby several days that all turkish players shud forgive me. I mailed to both Abuse and rain but they never answered. Many players also many turkish say they miss my tours and that I was a fair TD. 3 years is a long punishment and I think a person always shud get a second chance. I waited two weeks now without getting a reply from Abuse. Did validate and nothing in my spam. Denny=udcadenny

I just played a tour where one guy doubled 4D which made with one overtrick. In the end of game when all was clear declarer claimed and it was rejected. Just after that the doubler logged out. It could maybe be his partner that rejected but I dont think so. Anyway TD had trouble to get a sub to have the hand finished.

I was a very popular TD for may years but 3 years ago I made one mistake and my TD-rights were taken away. So many times I have asked for forgiveness and wanting to know how long time my punishement will last but I never get any answers. There are other TD:s who done similar or even worse things than me that after a period got a second chance. So please give me a try. udcadenny

Thx all for taking interest in this question but I feel that u missed the essence of what I mean. I have seen so many times a game delayed for minutes at a table with an open claimbox which is not replied by both opponents. When TD asks who doesnt accept claim noone answers. As TD I often recommended players not to use the claimbox as it often took much longer to finish the game though its intention is to save time. As I also preferred to arrang clocked tours it was very frustrating not being able to see who sabotaged and stalled to make time run out. Some persons are cunning and go for 40% knowing that they are expecting less than 10. Same tool shud be given TD regarding undo reject, a small textbox saying who denies, EWN or S, then I dont have to adress both to find out who caused the problem. Denny
-
I mean when its obvious that declarer will take the tricks he claim. Often an opponent rejects the claim to delay the play when he knows he will get a bad score. Dishonest stallers play to get an average 40% if its a clocked tour without adjustments. Other cases can be that opponent made a bad double and get sour seeing it will make.

All TD:s want to see who rejects valid claims. BBO shud do something about this mischief.
