  1. Eh, I think I'll take the LOL line and trot out ole' black.
  2. Why not cash AK then lead towards the jack? Then you pickup stiff Q or Qx either side, any time Q onside, and any time the suit is 3/3.
  3. What's wrong with 1NT? If the rebid is 2♣, you're gin, and over anything else it's an easy correct to the cheapest number of hearts.
  4. Awesome. If you have systems notes that'd probably be easier to learn from than the book anyway. tylere@gmail.com
  5. Any Viking Club players out there? Bought the book about a year ago and have finally gotten around to starting in on it.
  6. I don't think it's forcing, since opener has strong ways of getting to 4♥ over 3♣.
  7. Any hope of giving a URL parameter that will generate T instead of 10 (Yes, this drives me nuts).
  8. Actual auction was - 1♣ (Precision) - 2♠ - p (<6 HCP) - p X (takeout) - p - 3♥ - p 3♠ (Nominally asking for a stopper) - p - 4♣ (Natural, denying a stop) 6♥ (Hey, I've got play if p has as little as xxxx xxxx xx Kxx, and partner knows I have hearts here, so 4♣ should show a non-bust hand)
  9. 1♦ - 1♥ 2♥ (1) - 3/4♥ (Depending on how enthusiastic you feel...) (1) - If there was ever a hand to raise with 3 card support, it's this one.
  10. 3NT has it's appeal... 3NT on a major suit lead may even be a decent spot.
  11. Just to clarify, it's *dealers* LHO, so the auction will start: (what ever you open)-WJS in ♠-Responder's call
  12. ♠ ♥ AKTxx ♦ AKQxxx ♣ Qx ♠ xxxx ♥ Qxxxx ♦ x ♣ Kxx North deals. LHO bids 2♠.
  13. Abstain. Hate 1♠. What's wrong with 1♥?
  14. 1♣ (16+) - 2♣ (GF, 5+ ♦) 2♦ (Trump ask) - 2♠ (5, 1 of AKQ) 3♣ (Club ask) - 3♥ (3rd round) 3♠ (Spade ask) - 4♥ (1st Round) 5♥ (Heart ask) - 6♣ (2nd Round) 7♦
  15. Assume that both know and vigorously agree that 2♦ is exactly invitational.
  16. Was wondering if this would make an appearance at some point or another...
  17. The actual hand record, if anyone still cares: http://online.bridgebase.com/tools/handvie...3473-1233874379 Looks to me like any "damage" was caused by West passing a good 14 count over a non-forcing opening. NS probably reach 4♠ regardless.
  18. Pretty sure. I definatly remembered it because it's not a score I'd written down before.
  19. *ahem*, I think we actually scored 190 on this?
  20. If anything I would think a quick 6♣ would tend to encourage a raise.
  21. Only time I'd consider a balance is WvR at MP. Even then I'd probably still pass.
  22. When I open in 2♣ I am guaranteeing that I have game in hand. I will ALWAYS alert it as strong and may be artificial. Unless my rebid is 2NT showing that I have 23+ hcp, so I was too strong to open in 2NT, I will have at most 3 losers for a game in majors or 2 or less losers for a game in minors. With the exception of the rebid of 2NT, I never count hcp to open in 2♣. And if I am playing with a known partner they know it is GF. Wish I got to open with it more often :) This is why partnership agreements are so important in this game. With this hand I wouldn't be opening in 2♣ As an opponent it never hurts to ask what the bid means. So what do you open with: A AKQ AQxx KQxxxx
  23. Heh. I think I thought for about 10 seconds, which is perhaps a bit longer than usual for me on average but tempo tends to be (sometimes purposefully) a bit random on high level auctions anyway. Partner's logic was that I bid 6!C being about 95% certain I was off a spade trick, and well, we aren't.
  24. Bid 1NT. Especially at the B/I level, I strongly advice against raising with 3 trumps in an uncontested auction.
