The bidding is certainly more aggressive, especially in the contested auctions. The D is more frequently both for take out and for punishment; "Double for one down in pairs, double for two down in foursome"... Why it pays to be much aggressive?: The occasionally misfortune dont cost so much. Bottom is bottom and no more. Next deal please. but in Imps, when misguessed phantom-sacrifice, -1100 against 420 or even 140 /(-50!) may decide the whole match. A good pair also rely on their superior dummy play against weaker oppostion. And anyone can do a defence mistake, even World class players are known to do such now and then. But a good declarer has always a plus against good but not excellent defenders: shehe sees what they try to signal - and understand this often better then the partner who perhaps dont even notices which spot it was...

I second this one. Moving/animated ads are a nuisance. A compromise: they can move in the beginning, when the tables and profiles are loading and nothing else happens. But not othervise.

This deal is a very good example why you shouldnt try for borderline hard slams if you and your partner dont know each other very well. Waay too many possibilities to misunderstand each other and blow it this way or another. If it is necessary for your immortal soul to bid this slam - it is better to throw it in than make a long sequence of guessing. this way you would have perhaps 50% chance. Otherwise literally none at all - too many possibilities to guess wrong. There is also another practical aspect. Be careful with borderline slams if it is apparent there are wild distributions going. Try to win the contract, but dont strech it. Here the Cl-bidder is perhaps short in diamonds - and will get a ruff directly at the lead. The 4H-contract may be the very best in the long haul.

Ah, yes, I can of course switch the neutrals on and off. Yes, it would do the trick. Tx Blofeld and Csdenmark for response. (Very quickly worked, Fred! :) )
-
Ah, now I discovered. Yes, I DO see them in the lobby. But not in the left upper corner together with the yellows and my other friends, but dispersed among all the neutrals... 10 pages away or so. :)
-
Quick worked, Fred, but something is wrong. I still dont see the "enemies" in lobby...
-
Errata! I just discovered there is one more place to mark /demark. there where I can choose countries, stars, etc... splendid. So my suggestion works already. That was quick, Fred. ;)

I want to have two different cathegories of friends. People I want to play with - usually my peers. And people I want to look on - usually strong masters who would never play with me. Garozzo, Helgemo and such... :) I had this suggestion here. Inquiry gave me an interesting proposal to cheat the system: if it isnt necessary for me to have enemies, I can always use the blacks as a extra cathegory of friends... So now today I cleaned the enemy field. Switched some of the stars into enemy. Took also off the mark "ignore chat from enemy". And?? They disappeared!!!! Im a confused. Thrue, I didnt see the blacks in Lobby before either. But I did saw them when in main club.... I though they would be visible now when I switched off the ignore chat. So. My proposal. Make it possible, if one wish, to see the "enemy". who knows, I perhaps want too look at them and gloat at their bad behaviour and stupid mistakes? ;)

3-card M support - good 5-card at the side
Tola18 replied to kgr's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
It is important not to misuse "Jacoby" "Stenberg" 2NT - or whatewer you use to show fit and game-going values. Especielly if it is allowed with 3-cards supports. You will often play a bad Mayor-slam, down 1, while 6m is selfplaying. You will also probably get two throws on the spades. Do show your good-sidesuit, even if you do have enough for the positive 2NT. You can even consider this when the trumph support is four-cards! 2 over 1 isnt gameforcing in Sayc, but it is still a strong bid not to be taken lightly. If in doubt - bid rather 1NT, which may contain up to 11 bad points. thus: 1H-2C 2D- 2H - weak, not gameforcing, although many wants at least one bid more. 2D - 4H - weak, but we should make game. Do pass if you arent extraordinaly strong or have good hand and good fit with my minor - and "a pretty hand". But if you do - this way we may find slams on 25 combined highcard points. 2D - 3H - slamseeker. NOT gameinviting! -
And a similiar question: a new public club? For example, with swedish/scandinavian as common language? There ARE swedes who dont speak english.

Oh, usually they dont have any troubles accepting claims when I happen to give away too much - even although I do cry: stop, stop, wrong claim. (yes nowadays I know I can myself recall the claim) This happening as my claim is in total, but the registered claim is in the actual diagram. If the move not ready, the claim mechanism differs from reality. It is as with the dragon head lying at the fireplace in the MothersHouse. Is the head severed or attached to the neck? - Big difference as you know Elianna. ;) Thanks for your kind answer, E.

I believe option B) was on before. As it often happened to me the last 1 (2) trick disappeared suddenly and next deal was on. If one wanted to see what happened it was necessary to look at the movie. althought I havent seen this lately; it must mean they changed the program here. But some sort of here suggested autoplay (but rather slowly!) is useful. It often happens people do quit after a bad bidden or played hand. Or are taken away to a tournament. You cant even claim, as there needs two opponents to accept.* In this position there usually isnt no active play left, only follow suit. Ie it is either a claim-situation, or if the suit behaves, the rest is mine, if not - down one. *There is ways to cheat the machine. Dummy, the other opponent or even declarer himself can swich place and follow suit/accept claim. But there is risk someone from outside will be thrown into the thus unoccupied chair.
-
You do see only one at a time, but Did you have seen it is (nowadays) easy to quickly swich between the tables? I wasnt aware of this, was told quite recently.
-
you can also chat directly to both opps, if this bothers you. I do sometimes, especielly if I suspect my partner forget to alert (he does sometimes, and we play an unusual club system with this partner).

List of BBO experts?
Tola18 replied to allpass's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Yes. Or even look at the kibitzers, as they often do kibitz each other. say lesniak and garp44.... After a while you have most of them. -
New button for multiple messages :)

when I clicked Yes I was thinking on double chat-possibility, not on some fancy mass-distributions-system. Nice but probably overkill. Say I want to chat with a friend outside, I did just almost wrote a lenghty mess, and my opp lefty ask something. I must answer immediately, so I must take away this almost ready message... Such situations are frequently. It would be nice to have two chat - windows. -
There is also the possibility to ask lefty or righty only; thus also possibility answering only one of them. I know, danger is the declarer by mistake answers to the room or to both...
-
I think this isnt uncommon, and dont need to be especially cerebreal. I know for sure some swedish players do play it, dont think they use it as complicated. I know also it is in WJ2005, as 2NT jacoby there is inviting. (not "at least inviting" as is common in Sweden). There are no complicated relay-schemes here no. Although there are surely those who do complicate thing either it is necessary or not. :P
-
But. Diamonds are dummys long suit. Declarer must probably play it herself as it is NT. If the setting is in diamonds, it will probably be done anyway. Diamonds out would be more natural if it was a color-slam, say in clubs.
-
If you look at th WM-matches from say the 60ies - or any, it is amazing how light they did open sometimes! Open or contest. But is is of course like others already said. If you system allows it. If your partner knows you often bid lightly and knows how to copy. And these partnerships are of course well knowing each other. And they are well eguipped to show weak support, medium support or strong GF support. So why experts are opening lighter and not billies is probably experts do have fast partnerships when they do looong serious training.

Bridge on youtube and Google videos
Tola18 replied to yapuka's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I could say it isnt no good if you turn a friendly joke into accusation of being pathethic. This is also supposed to be a friendly forum, no? (Perhaps the joke was rather bad one, but this is a different story. You dont need to laugh if you arent amused) But there are several bottoms here. I cant help but comment some of them a little. The first is of course these players mentioned do well on their own not only in junior or women events, but also against strong professional players in good tournaments open class. Feks US nationals and regionals. Second. Confusing leering with spectating? Sometimes it is done officially. I believe in volleyball it is so, women players are forbidden to have long shorts and long sleeves since several years. I know for sure in beach-volleyball they are forbidden to have other clothes than bikinis... Third. Several of these women/girls mentioned apparently dont have anything at all against to be spectacted (yes, perhaps even leered at, who knows??), wearing light summer clothes both playing, kibitzing and going to be shot on official photos (Sandra feks). Four. Many players dont like to be kibitzed and play worse if kibitzed. I think especially many girls dont like to. My hypothesis as now is these girls, being used to be spectated - helps them to be kibitzed too. Therefore they have no drawback by being kibitzed. :) But this is of course OT in the thread as such, so let us not to prolong this. B) -
I didnt meaned save your soul by forgiving, but I said save ones soul by asking to be forgiven. There is the Yom Kippur-period now, you know. During this weak you should try to be forgiven for your faults against others. Who knows, perhaps some of your enemies will want to make peace now... :) (joking only a little).
-
Yes, but what if he wants to ask for apologise? Do you want to deny him the possiblity to save his immortal soul?
-
OK. By some reason N didnt believed in own contract in hearts, and hoped to trap opponents in spades. So done, he didnt Doubled, correctly recognizing opponents had a cheap save in diamonds, as both he and partner were short in diamonds. I would say first pass discutable, as it is always good to show good trump-support, knowing the good guys had at least 54 fit. Second pass was OK if he wanted to let enemy play in spades and get set.
-
oopps. I did saw now there is something i missed. Not north bidding spades but EW... Thus I must analyse again...
