  1. I live and learn. My 1♥ reply is limited.
  2. 1♦-1♥-3NT is all that is needed given East's 3154 & strength. Why provide information that could be useful to the opponents? Max with 7+♥ & self-sustaining suit West takes it to 4♠ Kickback Max uses Gerber/Quantitative
  3. After the following responses to 1♦ 1♥-3NT in case responder is xxxx KQxx xx xxxx & passes 3♣. Partner can use Gerber if max. 1♠-is it a 4/5+ suit?. 1NT-3♣
  4. Agreed 2♠ is my East bid, which sets West up for game, and then 4♣ knowing West's strength is also an underbid
  5. Without knowing players systems I would guess A) 2NT says invitational with ♣ support if your 2♣ bid is a 2nd suit so 3♣ is a sign-off B) I play 2NT is Str+ & shows 4+♦ or 5323 so 3♦ would be weak. Partner corrects if 5323. In the absence of that agreement 2NT says 18-19 (semi)balanced so 3♦ is forcing to 3NT
  6. so 2♣ with a 3♣ rebid says I have ~8+ playing tricks (forgetting about the hcp count) and long ♣ which you would likely end up taking to 4♣ I have Namyats style overcalls available so 4♦ works for me showing strong with 7+♠ & 8+ playing tricks
  7. I open 10 counts as normal on a hand like that
  8. Of course-I think Stephen has the right idea although I'd take a slower route to tease out potential slam opportunities.
  9. Yep - its wicked In this case transfer to ♣ and then bid 3♦
  10. I interpreted this as both Majors, but over a single-suited Major X-opening bid in a Major --19-21 balanced --19+ 3-suited 2♥15-18 balanced 2♠-♣ transfer 2NT-♦ transfer 3♣-natural preempt 3♦-natural preempt 3♥/3♠ Major/Minor 5-5 8+ playing tricks (possibly 5-4) 3NT-22+ balanced
  11. Slightly different from a 2♥ Ekren style X-13-15 (semi)balanced or 19+ 2♥-3 suited takeout 2♠-minors 2NT-16-18 (semi)balanced 3m-natural 3NT-Str minors In this case start off with X or 3NT
  12. Kaplan-Sheinwold https://www.bridgeworld.com/pages/readingroom/kaplansheinwoldupdated.html
  13. I read 3♣ as less than a limit raise with 4+♣ and no control in the unbid suits so loosing 2♠ and a ♦?
  14. Must have been a robot then
  15. 3♣ is a clear underbid for me Responder has 13 points with distribution (with 2 Aces) versus opener who will have a minimum of 16 revalued. That's worth a game try. I play 1♠ after the 1♣ opening as GF/GI and will end up cue-bidding on the way to game/slam
  16. Typically I would pass 3♣, but would hope to make 4 with West's hand, so I guess some sort of trump suit game try could be used although 3NT may well be making with Ax(x)♣
  17. I use 2♣-2X-3Y as Str 4441s with Y being the bid below the singleton so this works well. I don't mind 5440 especially if 5 is a minor. I also concluded that a Multi-2♣ & Multi-2♦ helps to define the longer suit with the 54 hands so I run into less of an issue with these.
  18. 2♥ - both majors May have been tempted to open 3♣
  19. I show the mixed raise/mini-splinter on this one with 3♦
  20. As West I rebid ♠ to show 5+ where 1♠ is 5-10 without 5+♠ or GF with 5+♠
  21. I'd have both minors 5+5+ and a void in ♥ for the 2NT bid so 3♣ for me, but then I play KI5 so 1♠ is the forcing NT
  22. Nope not seen that-not in the first post?
  23. Looks fairly basic to me 3♦ I don’t have a 5 card major 3♥ I have 4♥ not sure why they don’t right side I go straight to 3NT to show 2♠3♥ after 3♣
