I appreciate my opening bids can be light even at unfavourable but I did not offer much encouragement other than a competitive raise after a pass

For me that is a fairly ordinary opener so I just bid game. If partner has a strong splinter they can consider going further

You have my sympathies. Many of us have been there - even half decent (if I say so myself) players. There are a bunch of truly obnoxious losers inhabiting the tables on this site. Does 3C mean 7 or more I would consider 4NT and deciding on heart slam. Risky against a preempt unless you have the Ace I think I would want all the Aces I really have no idea and would probably be happy in 4 hearts

I would likely be kicked out of any club I tend to use it with any balanced hand with 3 or more trumps, 13-15+ points or so and game forcing (in my simple brain around 7 losers) - if not gf I use limits and other bids I don't think its let me down yet

Ace of diamonds. May not get another chance. I did think about leading a club but no EDIT I am very simple in my approach. When in doubt an Ace is ok - and not the Ace of trumps in this case - think about it and why it works If by luck you win your Ace then you think about other leads
