[hv=d=n&n=sxxxhqxxdaxcaqt9x&s=sqjxxhaxxxdkjt9c8]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1♣-(2♣!)-DBL-(2♦!!) P-(P)-DBL-(P) 3♣-(p)-3NT-All Pass 2♣=Majors, 4-4 or better and strength like an overcall DBL=Not really discussed with new partner. You hoped that it would suggest a penalty DBL in the next round. 2♦=prefer Diamonds 1. LHO leads ♠8 which runs to your ♠J, 2. You now play ♦J which holds 3. and a ♦ to ♦A in dummy 4. Small ♠ from dummy taken by RHO with the ♠K. LHO started with 2 card ♠ 5. RHO plays ♣7 for your ♣8 and small ♣ by LHO. Suppose you take ♣9 in dummy. Do you agree with play up to here and how to continue from here? All players at the table are OK, but no experts. [hv=d=n&n=sxxxhqxxdaxcaqt9x&s=sqjxxhaxxxdkjt9c8]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv]

(2M-Weak)-5♣-(p)-? (2♦-Multi)-5♣-(P)-? Is 5♣ preemptive here. 2♦ can include strong variants..Is 5♣ over 2♦ more preemptive then over 2M-weak? ..Or should 5♣ be constructive (you don't want to DBL followed by bidding ♣ because opps could preempt too much)? What would you need to bid 6♣ after your partner did overcall 5♣?

1NT-(DBL)-P-(2X) DBL??-(p)-DBL?? Partner opens strong 1NT and RHO DBL for penalty. You pass and LHO is weak and bids a suit. Do you play DBL by 1NT opener or by responder as penalty or take-out? (Normally we play take-out DBLs, but penalty after we have made a penalty DBL. What is best here?)

Thank you!

What is the probability with 5 card to start with a double pair?...Looking for an easy explation of the calculation. Thanks, Koen

We also have GF minor in our 2♦ opening. So: 2♦-2♠ (2♠ is preempt or invite with ♥'s) => 3♥: minimum weak 2♥ 3♦: GF in ♦ or good weak 2♥ --- After 2♦-2♠ 3♦-?? - 3♥: preempt ♥ - Other bids: invite ♥, taking into account that partner can have GF ♦

Thanks aal for the answers. I was only given this hand and was asked what I would bid. Additional questions: - Is it correct that experts - after opps overcall - don't splinter in a 3th suit? Jumps are fit then? - What after 1H-(1S)? What after 1H-(1S)-Jac2NT-(pas)-3C; is 3C still singleton? - Only the actual hand both sides can make 5 and both sides only go down in 6 after a specific lead. We have to lead ♦ against 6H and opps have to lead ♣ against 6S.

Is DBL asking a ♠ or a ♣ lead?

[hv=d=n&s=sjxxxxhdkqxxxxcxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1♠-(2♥)-?? - What do you bid now? - What would 4♦ be in your system (After opps overcall, can you splinter in another suit?)
-
Not sure if this one was cheating or too much decompression. It was taken in his off season, while probably not even training was done. About the other case that was discussed here: The just started to do doping tests in America. In a couple of years you will better accept it. :)

What is precision 2♣ showing?

LHO had ♠Qxx. Finessing in ♠ iso playing for ♠2-2 would have given a rather average score iso a bad score.

[hv=d=s&v=n&n=skjxxhakqdxxxxxcx&s=sa98xxhdaq9ckj9xx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] MP's Opps didn't bid. You play a contract of 7♠ and LHO starts ♣A and a small ♦ for your Q. What is the percentage play in ♠ and how will you play them? (I did misbid and misplay this hand. Hopefully some beginner (and I) can learn something from it).
-
LHO had singleton ♥Q. Ruffing 2 spades would give an easy 8 tricks. ...Still not sure what the best play is for this hand.

few hands with "what to bid?"
kgr replied to jocdelevat's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
agree; 3NT and 4♥ are close on the second. -
[hv=d=s&n=saxxxhaxdtxxctxxx&s=sqhj9xxxdajxxcaqx]133|200|Scoring: IMP 1H-1S 2D-2H All Pass[/hv] LHO leads a small ♣ for RHO ♣K and ♣A. (♣xxKA). How do you plan to make your 8 tricks? (I find these kind of contracts very difficult). ???If hearts are 3-3 then it is best to start a H now; if Hearts are 4-2 or 5-1 then you better start S??? Hidden:

- I would have started with 4♥ and DBL when 4♠ comes back.
-
North. South showed ♣A and no K and not ♠A.
-
1♠-2♣ 3♠-3NT 2♣=♣'s and 10+ or 3card ♠ and limit+ 3♠=15+ and 6 card ♠
-
Handviewer screen is cluttered in Netscape 7.2
-
What would 3NT be here in 2/1? (..sorry, don't know 2/1 very well).
-
over 1M: 1NT: minors (4-4 or better) 2♣: 4c♠ & 5+♣ 2♦: 4c♠ & 5+♦ All of the above with same strength as a 1-level overcall. 2M: 5-5 upper-lower and strong Jump in other M: weak 2NT: 5-5 minors and intermediate Jump in minor: intermediate and 6+ (or a good 5 card). With normal 1NT bid we DBL and bid NT later. On DBL partner bids 1NT with a weak hand (8-). DBL can also be done without Clubs (ELCD). We hope that with the above we can show more hands then with standard methods, but I'm not sure about it.
-
Seems ideal to have 4NT as quantitative and 4♣ followed by 4NT as RKC....but isn't this getting too difficult and too much risk for mistakes?
-
Note that we don't play 2/1. 2NT would be 11 HCP
