I was sitting West and declarer did go minus 1 here. I felt at the table that an entry-shifting trump squeeze should have been possible, but I didn't really know how at that time. Maybe I will never again recognize - or 'feel' - an entry-shifting trump squeeze at the table, therefor I posted this hand. ...For an expert it should even be possible to play the hand like this and the entry-shifting trump squeeze is the best chance to make the contract?

[hv=d=w&n=sqxxhtxxxdaj9xxcx&w=skxxxxhakxdcktxxx&e=sjtxxh98xxdt8xcqj&s=sahqjdkqxxxcaxxxx]399|300|[/hv] (1♠)-Pass-(3♠)-4♦ (4♠)-5♦-All Pass 3♠ is 4 card ♠ and 0 to 6 pts. LHO lead ♥A followed by a small ♠. South now plays ♦K to discover the bad ♦ break. Should South make his contract here? ....Hope you like this hand.

This is a summary of the qualifying regulations for open teams: Q1: No carry over for 3th ranked team? Q2: Teams ranked 3th till 6th will play against each other in Swiss B. They play in a bad Swiss and still have change to qualify for the K.O.? Could there be any intention to try to end 3th in the Round-Robin? Ok, less teams go on from Swiss B and maybe other good teams will - intentionally or not - end up in Swiss B. But it is a bit strange to end last in the round robin and then still have a chanche to win the championship?

Sorry for this bad question. I was probably misled by making 4♠+2
-
This was a one-time (for 2 training sessions and this one more serious..that 's 3-time) partner. I asked about splinters, but I understood that he didn't paly that. I agree now that this hand had enough defence and offence & a good rebid to open it.
-
Partner had a good 5c♥ and a bad 4c♣. He played 2♣ minus 1 while 2♥ would make easy. (...Would anybody DBL with a good 5c♥ and a bad 4c♣ iso of 2♣?)
-
Thanks all for the answers. Seems like the rule is rather lead trump then don't lead trup. Partner had: [hv=s=sqxhkqxxxxxdxxcxx]133|100|[/hv] Opps will only make 7 with a trump lead. Dummy had ♠AKx and declarer didn't finesse after the trump lead.
-
Partner had Spades and tried to show it twice. But I thought he asked a stop in Spades (and had a Heart stop). 3NT was down while 4S would have made.
-
I passed. 5H was minus 2 and 5C could be made (probably I don't DBL enough)
-
I was asking this because I have following side question: Is trump generally a good or a bad lead against 7 contract? Is there any "law" for this
-
What is the difference between 2♠ and DBL?
-
I didn't follow the law and did bid 2♦ because of the defensive (?) values like ♥Qx, three queens, rather flat distribution, no aces. Seems like that is wrong and it would be better to bid 3♦? ..Is 3♣ a 4-card raise with more defensive values then e.g. 2NT?

[hv=d=s&v=n&s=sk742hat3dqjt974c]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Pass-(1♥)-5♣-(5♥) ??? How clear is DBL or Pass here?

[hv=d=w&v=e&s=sqj92hdkj732ckj43]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] (Pass)-1♣-(1♥)-DBL (1♠)-2♠-(Pass)-3♦ (Pass)-3♠-(Pass)-??? I didn't play this with my regular partner, but what is 2♠ and 3♠ here (Suppose you play with an experts, but haven't agreed anything special)? And what do you bid now?
-
One of the few agreements was Walsh. I don't like to open light when I don't have majors. But it seems like everybody thinks I should have opened. So probably I should change my opinion on opening this hand.

[hv=d=s&v=b&s=skq84hq6dq986ct93]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Pass-(1♣)-1♦-(Pass) ??? No furhter clue for this hand. My partner disagreed with my bid and I wonder what you with bid here.

[hv=d=s&v=n&s=skj42h763d983cq75]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I'm not really used to play DONT, but agreed to play it with a one time partner. Pass-(1NT)-2♣*-(Pass) ??? 2♣=♣ and another Do you pass or bid 2♦ (to ask the 2nd suit)?
-
[hv=d=e&v=b&n=sq74hakj3dkjckj84&s=sjh54dat643caq753]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] You play a basic system with your partner with 5 cards Major and longest minor - no inverted minors,.. (Pass)-Pass-(Pass)-1♣ (Pass)-1♦-(1♠)-2NT (Pass)-3♣-(Pass)-3NT All Pass ATB for not reaching 6♣

[hv=d=n&v=b&s=s953hajt964dqj82c]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 2♦*-(pass)-2♠**-(pass) 3♥-(DBL)-4♥-(4♠) Pass-(6♥)-7♥-(7♠) All Pass 2♦*=Multi 2♠**=If long ♥'s then want to play 3♥ ..Strange bidding. - What do you lead? - What do you consider the worst lead (...beside ♣'s  )

This line pretty much requires 2-2 trumps and a misdefence when the ♣K is offside. Is there a better line? It requires 2-2, but rather correct placing of opps card then misdefence? (I have a déjà vu when viewing this hand. Is it coming from a book or a web site?) -
...start with ♦AK... Isn't it better to start with ♠QAK and - If N has 4c♠ play for the squeeze - If S has 4c♠ finesse ♦ ?

[hv=n=skxhkxxdakxxxxcax&s=satxhaqxxdxxxcqxx]133|200|[/hv] 1♦-(Pass)-1♥-(DBL) RDBL-(Pass)-Pass*-(2♠) 3♦-(Pass)-3NT-All Pass 3NT+4 (♦ 2-2 and RHO did discard ♥'s) Still not sure if Pass* should be minimal or Inv+. The problem with inv+ seems to be that you would have a difficult bid with same distribution and only 6 pts.
