  1. I like double as the xfer suit borrowed and diamonds, and bidding the xfer suit as takeout for that xfer suit.
  2. Pard's a passed hand, and is smacking it around. I'm passing this, easily.
  3. Pard never has what I need. I suspect pard would bid the same way with Qxxxx Kx KQxx x and we're off at 3NT immediately. I pass 3♦ at MPs definitely, and may think of 4♠ at IMPs knowing there's likely shortage in clubs in the dummy.
  4. I normally count to myself to seven. That way it's long enough to pause, but fast enough to not cause issues. I used to be a stop card user, but I went to Stop Card Anonymous and now have embraced the Alert card for my fix.
  5. I'm saying in concept because often when I bid 3m in this type of auction, I get the 6-0 trump fit. Just an idle thought. And I never get dealt a decent six card suit.
  6. Here's my fear that I have. Playing 3m on a 6-0 or 6-1 fit. Good hand for the simulation types to determine which is better.
  7. I play 1m-1M-2NT-3c-3d-3NT as a slam try in opener's minor; 1m-1M-2NT-4x for me are splinters/picture jumps, 5M-5m if for opener's minor, 5431 hands for splinters.
  8. Unless you're playing 1NT as the only G/F call, I think the only time 3m could hit the table, is when you have no fit for opener - like the 1-2-6-4 hand. In retrospect, I might leave my pard in that 4-2 fit.
  9. 2♦, since seven points are outside of the two suits. I admit, I might open a slightly aggressive forcing club due to the high control count.
  10. Happy Birthday to you Ed - you're one of the hidden gems of BBO, and your musings are always interesting.
  11. Raise with club control; I could have bid 3♣ originally after the 2♥ rebid.
  12. I tend to play two bids as the one under xfers, and the one bids as the two suiters, and use transfer Leb and our unusual vs. unusual defense as appropriate.
  13. I like the forcing play too of A-K-Q for the simple reason of not allowing partner to go wrong as often as the A-Q play would, where he maybe ruffing under the guises of falling the KC.
  14. For me, 3♠ is stop showing. I don't play stop asking in these types of sequences because I'm a limited hand. I would treat 2♥, without any prior agreement, as natural, not promising five diamonds.
  15. We used to have a specialty bid of 1♦-2♠ to show a constructive raise of 5♣ and 4♦, and the cuebid is still the offensive GF.
  16. I bail at 5♦ here and for me, it's crystal clear to me that if slam is there, partner gets the blame. Pard has shown a lot of minor cards, and opposite my singleton club my hand isn't quite as good as I thought it was at 3♦. I have a lot of major suit cards that needs to have coverage for, and if pard really has solid clubs, I think he would have not support belatedly at 3♦ either; I would have expected 3NT in passing. I expect pard to have a minor two suiter, but not solid.
  17. The two dead hearts, and very so-so club holding discourages me. If pard has something he/she will double or bid, and I can go from there.
  18. Larry and I have been wrestling with this for a while now, because of the nature of our system. We already use transfer positives in our structure, and rather like the overall structure that we have now. This handtype tho, is the one that can cause some troubles.
  19. This is pure resulting. 3♥ is ideal for the hand and you're not raising to four with this assortment. Ask your teammates what they do if the K of heart is guarded offside, with the AQ of spades sitting wrong, what they think about going two off.
  20. Between Gnome and myself Paul, we know the good beer spots. Definitely wouldn't mind a pint with you, my treat.
  21. And to think I have been known to quip "Pard, the dummy if it was a food would be creme brûlée..." God, the lack of coffee showed.
  22. Last time that I can remember, when I played a side game, I was wondering what hands people were bidding on!
  23. I bid a natural forcing 3♣ here. Then when I come back with 4♠, pard is much better placed to double or bid on. I'm not a fan of denying biddible five card suits.
  24. 4333 shape - downgrade. If the weak NT'er does not have the Q♣, After the first diamond is cashed in theory, switching to clubs is almost mandatory to kill the entries.
