  1. Start with a dbl (negative) followed by a bid in ♠ showing a GF hand with a 5+ card ♠ and if bid with a jump it shows a 6+ card.
  2. All a matter of style. I would bid 2♣ because the hand is game forcing so partner knows I have a 4xx5 pattern if my second response is in ♠.
  3. Playing 2 way check back it is ok to bypass a 4 card major if your hand is better suited to play nt. But agree on how to show or find the 4-4 fit if check back is used. By the way you must alert 1nt imo because a 4 card major is still possible.
  4. Another case of only remembering bad results and blaming the distribution for bad scores. If I learned one thing in bridge is that who gets angry at the table is the one who made the mistake.
  5. A director has nothing to do the way you want to bid. Holding for a example a 4126 pattern and GF you start with 2♣ and later introduce your 4 card ♠ if needed.
  6. To bid every slam that can be made is impossible accept that. playing precision would or if you play a weak 1nt might also get you to slam. but chancing your system on 1 board is a losing strategy.
  7. You are allowed to bid anything you like good or bad and if you make a good score well done. But if your HCP range regular depends on the strength of your opponents your partner should alert your weak openings bid and tell this (great way to make friends at your club). Does it work on the long run I don't think so but you are welcome to try.
  8. IT was a joke strange you didn't get that I even put a smile emoticon in it.
  9. Maybe you should call the director on him because he said he should call the director and didn't which could send a message to his partner :) . But don't worry if the director is called let him decide, if not and you wonder if it was not allowed ask the (or any) director after the match is ended.
  10. These bidding situations needs fixed agreements and depends what 2♣ means qua strength. If it is limit or better you have to agree if a dbl is for penalty or negative showing a 4 card ♠. What you agree on is a matter of style and if you don't know let your partner decide, Imo a dbl should show the other major and let partner decide to make it penalty and after a pass your partner can dbl for penalty or bid game knowing you have a 2-3 card ♠. If 2♣ can be less than a limit bid you have no choice and a dbl must be penalty.
  11. I would pass for a 2nt overcall I play 16-18 HCP.
  12. in the spirit of fast arrival perfect hand to bid 4♠ over 1♥ (long ♠ not a lot of points). I wonder what other agreements you have for 4♠.
  13. For 7♦ being a good contract the ♠ fines must work, ♣ 3-3 or 4-2 with the jack dropping and ♦ 3-2. For 7nt the ♦ could be 4-1/5-0 so 7nt is a better contract than 7♦. To get to 7nt/♦ you need a lot of specific agreements which would show the king of ♠ is missing and grand slam on 50% chance is a choice.
  14. Pass imo (a balancing double or 1nt bid is still possible) but if you had a extra jack it is a accident which happens if you open short club (5542) and you escape if you open best minor (5533).
  15. I see the magnetic poles have shifted :)
  16. Simple case of selling your hand twice 3♥ was a terrible bid. It shows distrust in your partner, a gamble mentality, lets have fun tonight or lack of bridge knowhow.
  17. ten of ♥ and will hear about the hero lead at the bar and have a excuse for a extra bear
  18. holding a 4333 pattern with 3 aces and a jack (9 ltc) playing for imps and vunarable in seat 1 or 2 pass is ok for me but it also depends what kind of system the opponents play and the strength of the field.
  19. For IMP play I use the 4 level as follow. 7(8) card major with 5 LTC (loosing trick count) and make a difference between holding 0-1 or 2-4 aces. 4♥/♠ = 7 card ♥/♠ 0-1 aces 5 LTC 4♣/♦ = 7 card ♥/♠ 2-4 aces 5 LTC 4♣ - ? 4♦ = 2-WF relay for 4♥ : to play or slam forcing with 7 LTC or better and 1-2 aces 4♥ = slam forcing with 7 LTC or better with 0 aces (partner passes with 2 aces or bids with 3-4 aces) The advantage of playing this way after 4 in a minor is that you play at 4 level if you hold 2 aces and the ace less hand is protecting his kings.
  20. Using the LTC for weak openings bid is ok I recommend you hold 8 LTC or better. Partner can raise to 3 level with 7 LTC and 4 level with 6 LTC or better. If you hold a strong hand (16+ HCP with or without a fit if range of 2♥ 6-10 HCP) you start with 2nt asking a description of the weak hand and you have to agree what the responses are (could be showing shortness or showing values). 2♥ - 2nt (forcing at least ?? HCP depending on the range of the weak bid) ? 3♣ = maximum HCP 0-1 card ♣ (or ♣ values if agreed on) 3♦ = maximum HCP 0-1 card ♦ (or ♦ values if agreed on) 3♥ = minimum HCP 3♣ = maximum HCP 0-1 card ♠ (or ♠ values if agreed on) 3nt = maximum HCP no short suit (or values if agreed on)
  21. Giving a splinter with a singleton K is not recommended but that aside your partners bid should be 4♠ and not 4♦ due to his holdings in ♥. If you play serious and non serious cue bids 4♦ is iffy but ok but if you do your bid of 4♠ is the right action.
  22. In the first trick you didn't play the Q so partner should know west holds the Q of♣.
  23. Holding a 7 card major and 5 LTC I open at 4 level being 4♥ or 4♠ with 0-1 aces and 4 ♣ or 4♦ with 2-4 aces. In this case south will open 4♣ and north has 3 options to respond. option 1 : 4♣ - 4♦ = relay to 4♥ to play or slam forcing (7 LTC or better) with at least 1 ace option 2 : 4♣ - 4♥ = slam forcing (7 LTC or better) with no aces option 3 : 4♣ - asking aces being RKC (4nt at least 1 ace) or EBW (4♠, 5♣ or 5♦) Bidding could be : 4♣ - 4♦ 4♥ - 4nt 5♠ - 6♥ or : 4♣ - 4nt 5♠ - 6♥
  24. The fun in bridge is you can invent new conventions and it worked this time. To find out if a convention is working you have to keep track of the results and if you gain more than you loose keep it. Holding combined 36 HCP is very rare and giving up 4 level for this looks like a wasted convention. A top pair had a rule for a new convention : If it only happened once in the first year we scrap it. If you want to play a simple system I find your convention better than just Gerber.
  25. Correct there are more rules to adjust de LTC like the first control rule, queen rules, trump holdings or double fit rule. but in this case as responder its still 7 LTC in my book.
