  1. Yes north can pass telling partner I don't have stopper in ♣, no 3 card ♥ and no 5+ card ♦. In this situation and the 4th suit was GF 3nt is the bid showing a ♣ stopper and a minimum (2nt would show extra values).
  2. First a minor followed by a major as response shows 5+/4 being at least game forcing is a good agreement to make.
  3. All depends if you play for MPs or IMPs. Playing for MPs pass or 3nt both can be the right action depending how the field is. Playing for IMPs 3nt is the only option because game pays better (if it smells like game bid game). Maybe it is better to agree which 20 HCP you not open 2nt with. Holding 20 HCP from 5-6 top honours is a reason not to open 2nt. holding a 4333/4432/5332 pattern with 20 HCP from AAAAKJ open 1x. holding a 4333 pattern with 20 HCP from AAAKKQ/AAAKKJJ open 1x. If you agree this with your partner any 4 count is good enough to bid 3nt. And yes this time you would loose not bidding 3nt but partner is holding AKx in ♣, distribution in ♣ being 3-2 and K ♦ as entry.
  4. Holding a 5611 pattern which is not strong enough to bid twice revers it is better to open the 5 card so you can show both suits. In this case you open 1♠ and west will pass or give a overcall in his minor. In both cases you can show ♥. True in this case you could end in a 2(3)-5 fit with a bad ♠ distribution but it is more likely that showing both majors gets you in the best fit more often.
  5. Well you got a good story to tell at the bar this time more often they will tell a story about you. A tip if you keep bidding like this never play for money and i bet the sharks will like you at the poker table.
  6. Players who complain about (extreme) patterns and or the amount HCP they don't know or get statistics of 52!. But that is ok just trust BBO it is not in their interest to mess with the deals. And if they do (with for example goulash boards) they will tell you.
  7. Whatever system you like or want to play agree with your partner first and keep track what works before you make chances. There are many ways to give meaning to 2nt for example playing for IMPS and 2/1 system combined with the loosing trick count (LTC) it could be like this : 1♥ - ? 1♠ = round forcing 4+ card ♠ and if 3 card ♥ possible being a invite or better 1nt = round forcing max 11 hcp if 3+ card ♥ possible with 10 LTC or worse 2♣/♦ = GF with 0-2 card ♥ or invite or better with 3 card ♥ 2♥ = 3+ card fit 0-9 HCP 9 LTC 2♠ = invite 6+ card ♠ 2nt = 4+ card ♥ invite with 8 LTC or better or 4+ card ♥ 16+ hcp 3♣/♦ = invite 6+ card ♣/♦ 3♥ = 3+ card fit 0-9 HCP 8 LTC 3♠ = splinter 12-15 HCP 3nt = non splinter 12-15 HCP 4♣/♦ = splinter 12-15 HCP 4♥ = to play 4+ card 0-9 hcp 7 LTC or better After 1♠ same system but 2♥ shows GF 5+ card ♥ and if 3 card ♥ possible being a invite or better. examples : 1♠ - 2♣ 2♥ - 2♠ = invite or better with 4+ card ♣ and 3 card ♠ 1♠ - 3♥ ? pass = minimum rather 3♥ than 3♠ 3♠ = to play 6+ card s 3nt/4♥/♠ = to play rest = slam forcing for ♥
  8. Queen of ♠ what else, maybe a new partner if he does not get that leading a Q shows QJ9x AQTxx or better. And yes you could hold Qx but than your partner has way more hcp than you and should know you try to find his best suit.
  9. Playing for IMPS i would open at 4 level showing a 7-8 card major with 5 LTC. The problem is that partner does not know how many aces you hold. To counter this problem you open 4♥/♠ holding 0-1 aces and 4♣/♦ holding 2-4 aces. After 4♦ you bid as follows : 4♥ = transfer to 4♠ being to play with 8 LTC or worse, or being slam forcing with 1-4 aces and 7 LTC or better and you want partner to play 4♠ = slam forcing with 0 aces and 7 LTC or better (partner pass with 2 aces and bids slam forcing with 3-4 aces) 4nt = 5-RKC holding 1-4 aces 7 LTC or better (doesn't matter who is playing) 5♣/♦/♥ = 4-EBW holding 1-3 aces 7 LTC or better with a void in ♣, ♦ or ♥ 5♠/nt = trump quantitative asking for 6/7♠ if partner holds AK/AQ/KQ in ♠ After 4♦ - 4♥ - 4♠ you bid as follows : pass = to play rest = slam forcing holding 1-4 aces After 4♠ you bid as follows : pass = to play rest = slam forcing holding 2-4 aces You loose a preemptive bid in a minor at 4 level but that is a price I am willing to pay.
  10. Looking for slam in this situation is way to optimistic. But that aside using 4c as gerben should be on agreement. I would bid 2♦ (as cue bid) first to show a very strong hand looking for the best game or a possible slam.
  11. If you play at a teachimg table you can but your boards are not played by no one else.
  12. If you open 1♣ and partner bids 1♦ your hand is not strong enough for bidding twice ♥ to show your x5x6 pattern. If you open 1♣ and partner bids 1♠ or 1nt your hand is not strong enough for 2♥ as a revers bid. If you open 1♥ it gives you way more chances to sell your hand being a x5x4 or x5x5 pattern without overselling your strength. For example : 1♣ - 4♠ - p - p ?? 5♥ is no option as take out so only 5♣ remains 1♥ - 4♠ - p - p ?? 5♣ is now a option to show your x5x5 pattern and gives your partner a choice
  13. Creating a specific system for just one opponent being a bbo robot can be fun but in real bridge not winning in the long run.
  14. Simple south should open 2nt. After a 2♣ north should bid quantitative because north shows 23-24 HCP.
  15. With the LTC you can distract 1 loser so if you have 2 extra trumps it only counts as 1 LTC not 2 And counting half losers is not my style so Qxx is 3 losers but if you hold Qxx in trump its 2 losers
  16. Yes but that is only for a openings bid not for a response, If you open weak its the other way around so the responder got a extra loser for holding no aces
  17. Really? I count 9 losers. holding a extra trump above the 8 fit counts as 1 loser less
  18. Based on the LTC I would raise to 3♠ if we play for IMPs (on agreement that all direct raises in a major show 0-9 HCP). Playing for MP a direct raise to 4♠ is ok.
  19. You alerted and explained during the bidding so no alert needed before the lead. If the director stays with the decision made you can appeal. Guess this was not possible so you where victim of a director who made a mistake or of a (strange imo) rule made by the sky club. By the way the director should have quoted the rule on which the decision was made.
  20. If it is for IMP play I would pass. If it is for MP play 2♣ is a alternative. dbl would show 3 card h (support dbl) 1nt minimum with good ♠ stopper 2♣ 5-5 non forcing 2♦ 6+ card non forcing 2♥ 4 card fit non forcing 2♠ game forcing 2nt invite 16-17 good ♠ stopper 3♣ 5-5 game forcing 3♦ 6+ card game forcing (or if agreed barrage 7+ card) 3♥ invite 4 card 3♠/4♣ splinter (or if agreed a cue) 4+ card ♥ 3nt to play 18+ good ♠ stopper 4♦ cue 4+ card ♥ 4♥ to play 4♠/5♣ exclusion BLW 4+ card ♥ 4nt RKC 4+ card ♥
  21. If a bidding went wrong only look at the first mistake all following bids wrong or not don't matter. After 1♦ north should pass. If you only look at the bidding and north hand is not known 3♦ is 100 % forcing being the fourth suit in most systems.
  22. Bids above 3nt should be alerted in the first bidding round. For example 1♠ - 4x being a splinter must be alerted, 1♠ - 3♠ - 4x being a cue bid not. But it could be that are different rule for different zones.
  23. You reached 7nt and made it. If it is right to bid it depends on the situation like are you way behind in a team match then yes take a gamble. Bidding 7 depending on a king being onside is not winning in the long run. The way you reached 7nt is up for a debate but I would get to 6♦.
  24. maybe I can explain it better : A negative double shows 8+ HCP and the other or both majors. If you give a negative double and then introduce a new major you show a GF hand with a 5+ card major (11+ HCP). If you give a negative double and then introduce a new minor you show a 6+ card minor beside the 4 card major with a minimum (8-9 HCP). If you want to play it this way it must be in agreement with your partner.
