  1. Well, once again I can help you refine your understanding, although I thought you had already learned this. I have certainly said it on a number of occasions. I support Trump's policy actions and executive orders, mostly and so far, that are moving the country in a direction that I approve of. I do not support Trump as a person to befriend or associate with. If you would like to replace Trump with another individual who will continue to move the country in the same direction, I have no problem with it. I do enjoy how Trump is driving the liberal/left crazy.
  2. You must see everything through partisan glasses. I am merely commenting on what I see and make no judgment positive or negative.
  3. Well yes, I am in favor of what works and opposed to what doesn't work. Aren't you?
  4. If it happens on Trump's watch he gets the credit or the blame, whichever is appropriate, right? If not, then we cannot ever allocate responsibility for outcomes.
  5. Do you even read my replies? Of course Trump is an a$$hole. Most everybody is in one way or another. But I really don't care what his personality or tweets are, or whose pussy he is grabbing. I primarily care about his official actions, executive orders, and what he can get done through Congress. If it makes him an effective President I think we should provide him all the pussy he wants. Are you still mesmerized by the soap opera? What Trump says, what Trump tweets? The media's and liberal/left reactions? All show, not important. When the man is moving the cups with the pea under one you have to pay attention to what is happening, and not be distracted by what the man says. Otherwise you will never know where the pea is. Of course the carnival show is all the Democrats have to work with at the moment. They have lost congressional power and multiple state level positions as well. Politically they are impotent. Do you see what is actually happening? Job growth, low unemployment, high stock market, lessening of regulations, tightening of immigration control, rollback of Obama's accomplishments. Actual progress against ISIS, actually addressing the N. Korea problem, working on improving relationships with Russia, stepping down from the role of international daddy. Like a big ship turning, very slowly but steadily. You may not like or agree with it, but it is happening.
  6. It seems to me that the basic problem with single-payer, is that it is single-payer. With that concentration of spending power and money flowing through, I suspect there will be a lot bribery and regulatory capture taking place. Imagine how much money pharmaceutical companies would be able to offer the single-payer staff in order to get favorable treatment. And they would be able to spend enormous amounts of money developing ways to hide it. I can already imagine a Belizean Trust, funded by an offshore LLC, offering a fully paid tuition to the college of choice for the staffer's children.
  7. Perhaps it is like porn, difficult to define precisely but "I know it when I see it".
  8. Glad for the opportunity. I find Trump inexperienced as a politician with a big mouth that he can't or doesn't want to control I agree with most of his policy actions and executive orders. The Republican led Congress is unlikely to give him what he wants in health care reform or tax reform, so in that way he will probably be ineffectual. But on the whole, Trump is moving the country in a direction that I approve.
  9. Perfect example of the civility that you offer.
  10. Yes, but California has proposed that very thing. Estimated cost is 3 times their entire annual budget.
  11. Absolutely agree. Actual defense of the US territory can probably be done for 10% of current defense budget.
  12. Asshole needs a place to pontificate?
  13. Third steo is that I, and many like me, vote.
  14. Thank you for the link. I have never believed in tax cuts as a panacea for growth. They are but one of the drivers. There is currently no social consensus on how our society should be run and structured. As we raise taxes to pay for more and increased social programs, as we impose more laws and regulations in an attempt to prevent damage to anybody, businesses and creative people flee to other jurisdictions where such things are not implemented. Unless we are willing to impose draconian and repressive restraints, that will continue to be the case. But then society will not look anything like the society that I grew up in. And such an approach offends my sensibilities. "This lady is not for turning!"
  15. It seems to me that everyone is ignoring the cost drivers in health care. If we don't address those issues then costs will never come down to affordable levels. Reform patent law to reduce the hold that pharmaceutical companies have on prices Reform medical licensing laws to allow more competition Reform tort law to reduce malpractice vulnerability and cost Until we get the financial incentives aligned with our desired goals, nothing much will happen.
  16. Spoken like a true socialist. Your response is unintelligible.
  17. "Fair" is in the eyes of the beholder. I assume that many of the wealthy think that because their capital is providing so many jobs for others that their "fair" share should be even less than it is now.
  18. That is plain silly. People are inherently unequal in talents, energy, creativity. So the results of their efforts are unequal. The only way to achieve equality of outcome is for the government to step in and take from those that produce/have more and give to those who produce/have less. One of the foundations of US civilization if equality before the law. Historically that has been what is meant by "all citizens are created equal".
  19. So you are saying there is no downside to Trumpcare?
  20. I agree. The question is: what causes or allows to be such lopsideness. Do you think it is just magic or dumb luck, or might there be some natural laws in operation?
  21. If everyone has nothing then equality is perfect, right? Is that preferable to some having more than others?
  22. Why do you think there is such a maldistribution of income? In my opinion it is due to "regulatory capture". When you put more power into the government, the government then becomes a major prize to be won by the highest bidder. As long as political campaigns cost money, politicians will be susceptible to bribes in one form or another. You want better distribution of incomes, then significantly reduce the size and reach of government. Of course it will be less equal, but better distributed. Not everyone but the 1% will be poor. But can you accept such inequality? Or would you prefer what is happening now, a trend toward everyone being equally poor except for the 1%?
