  1. Then the position boils down to Q9-void-x-void with the lead in declarer.
  2. SIR,I have seen a very similar hand in my Dads repertory wherein he has given it as an example of "TRUMP PROMOTION WITH A LOSER ON LOSER PLAY".COUP. As a matter of fact it is, some may say, an ENPASSANT after a throw in. I also think of another term " AUTOMATIC TRUMP FINESSE AFTER A THROW IN END PLAY" All in all a very interesting position..
  3. Sir,some of my friends who do open a1NT (15/17)with a 5 card suit respond 2NT on the 2C stayman when holding a 5 card major and show the major on a 3C clarification ask by responder..To be frank I wonder if this is worth considering or not.Personally I do not like opening 1NT with a 5 card major as also when holding two four card majors as we play Super Precision.(1NT is 13/15 in the system)We apply the same when playing a standard system like SAYC.
  4. SIR jammen,Absolutely beautifully wonderful hand with a moysian fit ,no 3-3 break in trumps and not very favourable distribution. Thanks a lot.
  5. Sir,quite easy if playing RKCB AND SPIRAL when we play standard.More straightforward and simple if playing PRECISION or SUPER PRECISION.
  6. Sir, you did nothing wrong at all.All your bids stand correct as per your partnership understanding. After seeing your partners hand all I can say is that his 2C opening bid was far too optimistic.
  7. Sir,you are absolutely correct.Playing precision one never suppresses a 5M. and with both 4 card majors one opens as 1D or 2D (4414 or 4405).By opening a hand 1D the pair never misses a 2H/S contract when 1NT goes down easily.
  8. Sir.I ,personally, tend to disagree with Minka wherein an opening of 2NT is suggested on AK.AKx,AQ,10xxxxx.Partner raises to 3 holding xxx,xx,Kxxx,QJ9x and you go down on a spade (5-3) lead when 5C is there for taking.
  9. Sir,since we do not know what North may hold, we will not double but make a bid of 3S as the presence of that Hj tempts us to fish for a game in hearts or in diamonds. Very little is required in Norths hand for this purpose.A small slam also can not be ruled out.The TOD on such a strong TWO suited may be difficult to describe accurately later on.Personally ,since the partnerships detailed treatment of such a hand is not known, it would be improper on my part to find a fault with any of these bids .
  10. Sir,the way we play it we will always bid 2C on the given hand. Not only that but ,with our understanding, partner will always compete upto 3C. We will always lead the CK as the suit is a 7 card suit .Partner who is a bookworm shall overtake and return the suit (which anyone will on seeing the xx in dummy)
  11. 5 C shows a control in clubs. You have cue bid in spades showing an ambition of small slam ,so now just bid 5H denying a control in diamonds.
  12. Sir,if you wish to continue with your present concepts then perhaps the BLUE TEAM CLUB shall be better suited as you intend to modify the 1D responses for upto 5 HCP. This hand can easily be opened 1 Heart rather than 1NT. or 1C for that matter,Easy to reach 4H thereby 1H-2h-4H ,since there are only 5 losers,
  13. Sir playing Standard we would bid 1C-1D-1H-1S-3NT.We are not interested in finding a 3 card heart support nor do we wish to play in 5C.as there are far too many losers for that .Playing Precision we bid 1C(16 +any)=1NT(8/13 hip balanced and no five card suit)-2C-2H(4 card Spade and 8/10 HCP)-3C-3D=3NT. 3NT albeit from the wrong hand.
  14. Sir, personally I totally disagree with the 3C bid after opener bid 2H.A 2S bid would describe the hand much much better. Kindly check what could have happened next.
  15. SIR,i agree with you entirely.Todays press can not afford to give space to games of Chess ,Bridge and the like.Same is true for the daily comics ,crosswords etc. which used to appear everyday. As you say, probably less than 1% of readers are there who have the time, energy or interest in reading these subjects today. One has to go with the changing times .As regards Ron Klinger, he has own paid subscriptions to his bridge site where he gives daily, and weekly problems and hands for thosereally interested in Bridge .There are many more sites too which are available on payment. The new era is of mobiles and laptops and all old-timers have to simply accept the facts as they are without any arguments.
  16. Sir,I have never ever come across such a situation .IF the partnership has not discussed action to be taken after such bidding then it means the double shows extra values and no clear cut decision to make.Normally, since responders hand pattern is not established, it expresses a keenness to continue to 4H unless partner desires otherwise. One of my colleagues rather jokingly says "whatever you bid is wrong" after the outcome if it turns out disastrous.
  17. Sirs thanks to all of you for suggesting how to approach .I confess that I liked the the development suggested using a bid of 2S as minor suit Stayman..NOW,I shall disclose the openers hand as well as the results. In the Open room the pair reached a contract of 6NT..In the closed room I (blush) was the opener and held S-QJx,H-AQxx,D-KJxx.C-Kx .The responder bid 2NT ,a transfer to Diamonds.Over my forced 3D he bid 3S showing a double suited in S and D and slam ambition. On my 4D he bid 4H. the cheapest Cue. RKC and Spiral showed 3 Aces,DQ and SK and also denied HK .Thus his hand was S-AKxx,H-x.D-AQ to 5/6,C-Axx (Ax) .Either of these holding and I counted to 13 and bid 7D which of course made easily. The heart King was with LHO. Last but not the least it is my humble request and duty to clarify that I do not suggest that this bidding was a good method.I wanted to know better alternatives which I so lovingly got. Thanks all once again.
  18. Sir,if one bids 2S as minor suit stayman the opener bids 3D showing a 4 card diamond suit.
  19. Sir as is usually played, it is a penalty double showing normally a balanced hand with 10+HCP and a guard in all 3 remaining suits
  20. Sirs,YOU hold S-AK82.H-5,D-AQ963,C-A65.Your partner deals and opens 1NT ,,which shows 15-17 HCP, balanced, can have only one four card major and no 5 Card minor..YOU have agreed to play Stayman, 4 SUIT transfers.NO GERBER. If you bid 2C opener bids 2H. WHAT NOW.?.If you wish to proceed any other way then kindly explain in full., I shall give the openers hand and what happened in a high level Round Robin match.
