With this exact hand, prior to GIB playing Drury, does he bid 2C? I agree 1NT is the bid. Just wondering if this in an artifact of the upgrade, where previously 2C might have been pass or correct to 2D? (Still not my favorite)

ACBL MP 12-board Robo-dup The jump to 4S seems like a stretch to me. Thoughts? System suggestions? Most people opened 1S and ended in 4S after GIB's 1NT response. I thought my 2S was perfectly descriptive to keep us out of game. Link -Daniel

When playing in a robo-dup (non-instant, ACBL or vanilla) a) On a PC/Mac via web you can see how other tables did on a board DURING the tournament and look at their line of play b) On an iPad with the app you can't do this until afterwards. Is this something that would be easy to add to to the iPad version? Thanks, Daniel

Which version of Drury is GIB supposed to play? The bid is right if GIB is playing like most, just not the description.

The 21.24% getting points is an anomaly from 6 of 10 C players dropping out. While there are valid reasons not to like masterpoints, this is just one to enjoy an innocent chuckle at.

GIB also has 5HCP and not the 6-11HCP described. He would have parked it at 2H if you didn't reverse, right? His had is too weak for a constructive 2H call. I guess the description could be a bit wider.

This might be a record, or at least that I have seen. I just finished a 12-board MP ACBL Robo-dup. 29 People started, so I guess it was stratified 9/10/10 which means top 4 in C pays master points. I finished 3A/1B/1C, with the large field this awards .90 to 1st B as well as 1st A. Here is the amazing thing. Eight people quit, of those 6 must have been C's since all 4 C players that did not quit won master points, including the player that finished last OA with a 21.24%! :) Link

Good luck with that, considering the average age of bridge players in the USA is several standard deviations above that of Podcast listeners. I regularly listen to Poker Podcasts (Thinking Poker and The 2+2 PokerCast) to get my fix of card action. I've only played a little bit of poker and now find it pretty boring compared to bridge. However, I love hearing people talk about it and how they think.

I once made a jump overcall holding 6-spades and 0-HCP (Pass - 1C - 2S ...) with the TD (a friend and an expert player) Kib'ing me. The obvious goal was to get them to play in 5C and not 3NT or slam. He reminded me that my action was permissible in ACBL-land as long as I take that action against everyone and not just weaker players.

Maybe because I am opening 1NT with a bad 14 too often with him and he got tired of me. :lol:

I'd hate to see that. Having SOME positive response is better than none, IMHO (which is supported by Marty Bergen and others).

LOL 3HXX+4 would be a fun top when everyone else is in 7H making. Put that genius pass in the paper.

I understand GIB plays 2C over 1D as forcing for one round and not GF. But what happened to bidding 1S and parking it when I rebid 1NT? Seems a stretch here. Link
