  1. How is this any different from regular hand results? Some of the hands, you just have to ignore the par. It is the 80% where it is right that helps us learn.
  2. There are many free Goulash tournaments a day.
  3. Well, at least fake your way through 2/1. Otherwise you are going to have a lot of unhappy people playing opposite you.
  4. Understood. Like I said, one can always open a second account for ACBL tourneys, but that isn't great. Would it be possible to publish what the typical strata are like for various BBO tourneys? Could this be included in the results, just like at the club? Is there any harm in doing that?
  5. Are we trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist? Or solving the wrong problem? Which is more common: 1) A "Good ACBL C" player has a lot of BBO points and plays in "B" in ACBL BBO tourneys. This is someone like me that is pretty new to bridge and plays in a lot of 25-penny robo dups with some success. 2) An "A/B non-ACBL" player only has a few ACBL points but many BBO points and plays in "C" in ACBL tourneys. This is like somone that maybe has an ACBL membership but primarily plays in a different league, for money, on-line only, etc. with a lot of success. Taking the max solves (2). Taking just ACBL solves (1). Thanks guys! Daniel
  6. Maybe not the best word, you are right. Which direction do you think occurs more? Are there really many high BBO point players with a C amount of ACBL points? And do they really play in ACBL's then?
  7. Only at a Regional/National. I think this is much more like 50 year rubber bridge player showing up at a club. It is so infreuqent that it just is what it is. Playing on BBO it is far more typical that just using the ACBL points is just as representative of their skill as the max and won't penalzie people who have a lot more BBO points. There is also a simple fix of just using a second account, as long as this doesn't cause any flags. But that is a pain.
  8. Agree with Bbradley62 100%. The online ACBL experience should be just like offline. If someone with 2000 BBO points and 10 ACBL points decides to pay the premium for the ACBL robo-duop's, let them be a C. I seriously doubt this happens often.
  9. Thanks - I was in B in an ACBL for the first time yesterday. Must have been a weak field, which would explain my 1st OA :) It still makes sense to me to use just ACBL for the 12 boards. Have you thought of doing that? Daniel
  10. Tell me about it! Yesterday I played for the QH to drop "eight never, nine ever" and to my shock -- Instead of the QH dropping my Ace of Hearts lost to the Ace of DOUBLE HEARTS! Fred didn't tell me he swapped the deck with one of his grandkid's games. I guess I should pay more a month.
  11. Hello: Are the 12-board ACBL Robo Dup's stratified by the max of the user's ACBL and BBO points, or just their ACBL points? I ask this because nowdays when I play the non-ACBL 8 boards, I am usually in 'B' (130 BBO points) but since I am newish, I am typically a 'C' in the ACBL 12 boards. If it is the max of the two and not just the ACBL points, does it create a disincentive to play the non-ACBL tourneys, or perhaps an incentive to have an ACBL only account so that my BBO points don't push me into 'B'? It seems more appopriate that ACBL tourneys are stratified by ACBL points only. Best, Daniel
  12. This seems like another case of the tail wagging the dog. Why should enemies be included in the star calculation? I thought this tool was to predict. Obviously newer players, like me, will be scared we won't be compatible with most, and people will shy away. I feel like I am dating again. :P
  13. Is transferring points a new capability? So we aren't "stuck" with one username now?
  14. If you aren't using the Standard American Yellow Card as your convention card when you play, I would recommend so and strive to learn everything. It makes for very easy pick-up partnerships before you switch to 2/1 with whatver gadgets you start to use.
  15. Does GIB have a definitive "rule" for his opening of 11hcp hands in 1st/2nd? How about 3rd and 4th? I've found him to be a tad aggressive in 1/2.
  16. Fred, you are the greatest. By delay I mean there is many times where robot takes 10+ seconds to play a card. There is never latency when I click on a card. It's really made the experience worse, so I really appreciate the team working on things. Dan
  17. I continue to have problems with 'delay' playing robot tournaments with the new version. Playing in the 25cent 8 board robo-dups, at least 50% of my tournmanets I will experience this. It is pretty annoying. This also makes Robot Races unplayable on the iPad. I know it is weird, but I find it MUCH easier to misclick on the new iPad app then the old one. Are there any 'fixes' planned? :(
  18. Sometimes the won't come up at all for me. It gets stuck on "loading."
  19. I know it is weird, but I have the same problem (iPad 2). Let's also be honest. I have to guess very little of the serious traffic to BBO is on a smart phone. While "clicking" is probably easier a phone, for some reason it is harder for me also on the ipad.
  20. Ditto on iPad 2. I use my iPad for 90% of my BBO play. The new interface just isn't good. It is very cartoonish, the chat is much to big as is the other information. The "play field" was much, much better in the old version. It has even taken some of the joy out of watching Sabine Auken play. :( Daniel
  21. Playing in an Instant Tournament GIB failed to give his partner back the obvious heart on trick four. This was a large enough IMP gain for me to move from 8th place to 2nd on Board 7. GIB My link Just wondering. Usually it finds these easy.
  22. Or you could just pay for the bots and play outside of a tourney. Or play anonymously. Or play a bunch of "Play 4's" But I do agree in spirit. Something is nice about being in a tourney.
  23. The third one was crazy. Why not just overcall 1D instead of the first double? He has a pathetic three hearts. It would seem to me that the second promises the high side of the lie he was trapped in, given the first double. So maybe the second was ok since the first was already there.
  24. I can't agree with any of his three doubles. -Daniel http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?myhand=M-21824503-1386178681
