  1. just apply the principle of transfer K. if you double in direct position with a nice 13 HCP, double in balancing position with a nice 10 (probably 4441 short in opps suit). apply lebensohl. 2NT is an exception i guess, most play it still as 15-18 since it's too risky with lower values.
  2. double. part may pass, bid 3NT (which i'll pass) or bid 3S after which i'll "retreat" to 4D. or bid 4C ;-)
  3. 1C ok. why lie? i like 3H more than 2H, so 3 it is.
  4. 1. I open (i'm a sound opener ;-) 2/3 probably yes (bid 4). if 1S-3S limit promisses fit 4, bid game for sure. i'm minimal (7 losers) with a bad suit but nice controls and 10-9 in diamond. if partner has values in clubs, too bad. if part has values in hearts/diamonds, i have a good chance.
  5. transfer. i see no reason not to play "stayman" + transfer here.
  6. maybe you can outline the proposed methods (i haven't received my issue yet).
  7. so 2 of a major rebid is 100% game forcing, not one round? 1c=1d 2c=2h=100% game forcing or only one round forcing? 3c or 2S= 3d or 3C? still 100% game forcing? with an one suited GF hand you may start with a jump shift (the same "standard" which doesn't exist ;-)
  8. i hope it's not a trick question. standard is NF (inv).
  9. lucky beginners. or very stupid cheaters. hard to tell...
  10. the meaning is good advertising for bridge, not to estabilish which system is better.
  11. some play that after 1♣ - 1M - 2♣ ... 2♦ is a forcing relay thus making 2♥ non-forcing.

    3C?

at white yes, at red no.
  13. Conventional GF, responder can show 5m/55m/5♥/4♥/Hx support. can you detail this, please?
  14. if i understood correctly, the rules are: - with any 4-4 open lower suit (1♥ may be four cards only when specifically 4-4 majors) - with any 4333 open 1♣ with 3/4 cards or 1♦ with 4 cards this makes 1♠ 5+ cards. not exactly Acol, where you may open 1M with 4 cards in front of a 4 cards minor.
  15. it's a minimum but it's still my choice to raise. i don't want opponents find a cheap fit in clubs/hearts.
  16. Thanks Helene! And Happy Birthday to your father and to Mike!
  17. i won't comment the rules about claiming. i accept any claim which is based on an obvious play (like drawing trumps and discarding losers on an estabilished suit etc) which takes into account possible bad breaks. i just want to propose an improvment for software. if one player concede all tricks (claim 0 tricks), opps should not be allowed to reject this claim. it happened to me more than once (wtf?).
  18. 3♠ on first. on second, i see no choice but 3♦ suit+fit.
  19. it seemed fun to pass so i voted this. to my surprise, i'm not alone ;-)
  20. a matter of agreement. for me, 2♠ is the waiting bid.
