  1. at the table, you don't know in advance partner will bid 2H, so forgetting spades is harder. 3D is dubious with 90% of points outside suit. i think i'll bid an ugly 1S ... 2NT.
  2. 2NT bidder will reopen with every hand with short ♣ imo yeap, when it's void or singleton.
  3. show your hand and state your line. something like "i take 9 tricks then finnese that and make 9 or 10 tricks". otherwise, i consider "i make at least 9 tricks" useless.
  4. why didn't you ask what is 2c before bidding?
  5. Inverted Polish Club Canape Strong Club Thanks to Dan for pointing me to the "Inverted Polish" club system - the system summary: iPolish system summary i can see this is the name used by players but i don't understand what exactly is "inverted". maybe f@#$ed up polish club ;-)
  6. nothing fancy, Becks
  7. link fixed, thanks. i was thinking at something like 1C - - 1D = 0-7 - 1H = 12+ (not bal) - 1S = 8-11, tranfer to NT (bal or 4441) -- or 15+ BAL - 1N = 8-11 clubs - 2C = 8-11 diamonds - 2D = 8-11 hearts - 2H = 8-11 spades - 2S = ? 8-11 55 minors - 2N = 12-14 BAL
  8. regarding this system: http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=35931 ("simplified meckwell for students") how about using the 1H reply to 1C as any 12+ and the rest of the answers showing hands in 8-11 range? arguments for this are pretty obvious (frequency, game before slam etc). any cons?
  9. LHO has just guessed. how about partner having 3 hearts instead of the hoped singleton?
  10. so, the bidding was 2♠ - 3♠ - (4♥) - and now you ask if i't all right to preempt again?
  11. why? is there a rule for when is this and when is that? whups, sorry, didn't read page 2. thanks for explanation ;-)
  12. because it looks like 13 (14) points: http://www.jeffgoldsmith.org/cgi-bin/knr.c...Jx+KJx+KJx+Kxxx
  13. from time to time, opps have a misunderstanding which leads to a good contract. this can be annoying, but it doesn't mean they cheat. as a TD i'll probably adjust this one (A+/A-) only if they communicated during the bidding.
  14. on first, the overcaller has a normal double imo, so the result stands. on the second, i think S was damaged by misinformation and i change the result to 4H (over 3S explained as pree, the second double is normal and i guess N has an obvious 4H call)
  15. what's this, a script for a new soap opera?
  16. "It depends" but lacking any agreements I would say last supported suit.
  17. close your eyes and bid 6H ;-) part won't have much in clubs judging by 4D since this is advanced/expert, i would have tried splinter with those cards
  18. iirc, either marshall miles or danny kleinman (or both) advocates this "continuous range michaels" in their books
  19. Pass and then transfer to diamonds, make Meckstroth declarer ;-)
  20. I used to have a rule with my former partner that 4 hearts/spades is never splinter (unless it's absolutely obvious you cannot hold that suit) but to play. Not the best technical agreement, but the best simple agreement ;-)
  21. I was under the impression that any bid was non-forcing in the old acol ;-)
