    Goodbye

Hi Caren ! Also sad to read this but bridge is a virus and I'm sure you will be back ! Good luck Alain
  4. I play it in some partnerships. It's 5♠ + 4♥ Alain
  5. I agree and think it's fairly standard to go through 4SF to have a forcing sequence, isn't it ? Alain
  6. It is even more difficult if you don't introduce clubs ! Reason why I prefer to pass with this kind of hands, hoping to show both suits after. The goal is not to know wether partner has the filler we need, the goal is to let partner know if he owns the good cards ! Alain
  7. Agree : Bidding should go something like : 1♣ (1♥) 1♠ (Pass) 2♣ (Pass) 2♥ (Pass) 3♦ (Pass) 3♠ (Pass) 4♠ Alain
  8. I agree with Hatchett that the second hand showed by Roland is much stronger but I would open the 1st one too. When you open, partner is aware that your suit can be very bad. If you wait here you cannot overcall later with this non existent suit. Alain
  9. French : ♠ Pique ♥ Coeur ♦ Carreau ♣ Trèfle NT = SA (sans atout) Alain
  10. Congratulations and good luck ! Alain
  11. 1. 1NT 2. 1♠ 3. 2♦ 4. Pass 5. Dbl 6. Pass 7. Pass
  12. Agree and I'd have passed ! 2M is out of the question = reverse ! Alain
  13. If I had bid 3♣ (what I would have done and not 3♥) I think I would take the 12 tricks cause my LHO would know that there is a ♣ shortness in front. As I did not mention the ♣, I'm pretty sure that the lead is a single. Am I wrong ? They have a ruff ! Bad luck ! Next board please ! ;) Alain
  14. I totally agree that 4NT is the bid over 4♥ ;) Alain
  15. ♣ lead is a single (I hope) and there is no communication between the defenders so I finesse at MP Alain
  16. This is a good hand to show splinter : not too much strength, no other suit to mention and 4+ trumps. You were not fortunate and bidding is good : at least in my book ! ;) Alain
  17. I agree : the ace makes the difference ! :) Alain
  18. Hi Mike, B) In this typical auction, it is very important to know directly about the ♥ fit cause you have great chances to be preempted by the ♠ So, in that case, I play a special and simple treatment with transfers, here it is : 1♥ - (2♠) - ? dbl = cards no ♥ fit, no m/5 2NT : transfer to ♣ with 5♣+ no ♥ fit 3♣ : transfer to ♦ with 5♦+, no ♥ fit 3♦ : ♥ fit, limit + 3♥ : competitive Try it, simple and effective Alain
  19. For me also 2♦ to set the forcing character to the auction and then repeat ♠ Alain
