  1. I agree. I prefer to play this in 4♥
  2. 5♥ : With partner forcing pass, we have a good chance at the 5-level. For the second hand, idem Justin : 1S 2C Pass But never 1NT : I'm a beginner and need a stopper ! :P Alain
  3. Yesterday, I logged into BBO to see the V-graph from Brazil but did not see anything ! Was it canceled ? Roland, do you have some info ? Can we hope to see anything today ? Alain
  4. Hi all ! I have changed my job so that I have less time to post (everyone cannot be a bridge professional, he Justin ! :() but I still come to read your wonderful posts ! :) Anyway, thank you all and I will try to repost a bit ! (so that Gonzalo won't be the only one to fit a 1M response with 4 cards ! :D ) See you on BBO ! Alain
  5. I think it is normal to bid, you only pass when you see all 52 cards and LHO with AKJx in ♥ :o If I go for 800 or more, that's life ! :)
  6. I agree with Roland and others if you want the max penalty but here I'm a bit afraid that the declarer has some kind of 2 suiter with short clubs that should dissapear on AK of ♠ ! So, as this is imps, I would lead the ace of ♣ ! Alain
  7. This is IMPS, I have an invite : 3♥ I can understand 2♠ if not GF. Alain
  8. How can anyone say Nth is responsible? I am sorry but this is totally off with the pixies. The 2S bid after two doubles is 100% forcing. North bid the hand very well. I agree totally ! Not raising partner with a fit and 8HCP after He doubled twice is a crime. 100% South
  9. I'm going to lead a low ♠. I've seen too many hands where my partner had a spade honour and that was enough to set the contract. ;) Alain
  10. I agree with the Hog. A M/4 is not a problem (for me) but M/5 is too much. Alain
  11. 1♠ for me This is one for ZAR fans ! Alain
  12. Impossible for me to pass 2♠ here whatever partner has. I'll just show my hand and good support with 3♥. Alain
  13. I think that's it's normal to alert the 1NT rebid and explain it as "may have one or two 4 cards major" 1♦ (even if short with big club support or less than 8-10) and 1M responses are natural and played in all natural systems so I think it's not a problem not to alert them. Alain
  14. Happy birtday to Walddk, Walddk2, Walddk3, Walddk4, Walddk5, .... ;) Alain
  15. This small improvement is not of high importance but ... As a big fan of vu-graph, I think it would be great to be able to see that there is a vu-graph when you are at a table (in the main bridge club or kibbitzing a tournament). I know that Roland always announces that the vu-graph has started but if you miss his message (you are not there and there is a lot of chat at the table) you don't know anything if you don't come back to the lobby. Alain
  16. Bridge is bidding AND cards play and that's why it is so fun to play this great game ! If all those fantastic players were playing the same system I'm pretty sure that the show would not be so great. Most of the decisions would be reproduced at each table. By the way, I don't think that the systems in use are very difficult to understand. They all play "normal" conventions and when you see Soloway opening 2♦ with ♠/4 ♥/5 ... everyone knows this is the F thing ! :( Alain
  17. As Frances says a move is obvious here and I think 5♣ in search of a ♦ control is a sane way to continue... Alain
  18. No, sorry but it would never happen to me not to bid 2♠ with this so I can't actually tell you what I would do now. Alain
  19. Yes, ♦K and ♥A = very good cards and associated with ♣ shortness, it makes a clear Dbl imho. If you pass, don't you have the feeling that you don't have bid your hand ? Alain
  20. As the others say, you create the problem by not bidding 2♠ on 2♦ Alain
  21. Because one of the most interesting things about bridge is different bidding methods. Events where all the players are obliged to play SAYC are fine for beginners and restricted players, but these guys have dozens of world championships between them and I want to see them play bridge in all its glory - including interesting system stuff. I agree totally with Dave here ! :( Systems are (a great and wonderful) part of the game and those people have worked hundreds of hours to have something very efficient. It is obvious to agree on a system for individual events but also obvious to let them play their own systems in pairs and teams events imho ! Alain
