Two polish players are not very happy with each other. They start talking in polish. I remind them to use english only. One player A says: "Ok, sorry." The other one B says: "I no english, i like polish." I said to B: "Sorry, if u do not speak english i blacklist u for further Glamour tournaments. When u learned some english, plse tell me and i unblack u." I hoped he was able to understand this and/or he could find someone who told him the meaning. Well, he understood me very well. A started in polish again. B to me: "Now u plse black A." :)

it does remind me that one player called me Mr. I responded to him that i was no Mister. Player: Then why do u call yrself Glamourous Bond? :P

:rolleyes: i registered with a p for a 10 boards tournament. after the start the td announced he changed the tourney to 12 boards. I thought about it but i thought this is funny... why change it - i almost never play 12 boards tournaments (except from Gweny since i love her as td) and it was already late here, so i really wondered why it was changed... I suppose the td got more complaints and was a little frustrated since he booted me. I do not think i was unfriendly, but ok, maybe it is a language bug and anyway i want to give u a good laugh... This was how it went: 'Me: Why did u change the number of boards? TD: I changed the boards'cause I am the TD Me: ???????????? TD: ??? TD; You wanna play, or talk?? Me: So we always have to wait untill after start when u are td about the final amount of boards? Automated message: You have been excused...

I am with Brandal, Guggie, if we use Nederland for the dutch speaking players we need the countries Belgium and Netherlands since we use those players.... we add them as friends and than make a lin so we can use this lin file for those who r allowed to play the tourney. It is a pity we cannot see the yellows at the same time.. we might need one sometimes and than we have to change settings first :blink: I suppose same counts for other language/country bounded tourneys ;)

I wouldnot mind to post all my rulings but i have 3 reasons not to do so: a. it means i have to write down all my arguments for my decisions and YOU need to read them... b. the majority of my decisions are never discussed c. if any doubt or discussion i always go to this forum (i think i did this in the past)

Well, i dont have anything to hide and i like comments good or bad, ones i like and ones i do not like. I think a td-club only is not a real good idea. We need feed-back from all. :D

Hi Aisha, Well, i want to help you with my 2 cents thoughts. First: What price can be asked for a tournament? A TD can decide how much he/she charges for a tournament between certain ranges. I remember the lowest possible charge was 20 cents and uday promised me to change it in future, since i counted lots of fees for those who played a lot. In the meantime i started to charge the 20 cents though my original thoughts were 1 cent pro board. Maybe i go do that later. Second: Why paid tournaments? If you go play bridge and than than main bridge u can read the club news. On the second page BBO states BBO will try to stay a free site for main bridge and vu's but some tourneys will be paid. Certainly we all understand that the BBO site cost money and BBO has to get money from sponsors and/or members. Since most of us play at BBO with lots of fun i think some of us can pay a little fee for tournaments if they like them. Others still can make free tournaments for those who cannot pay for them so no worry about those. In that way we all can happily play all together on BBO. I believe i never saw a site where one worked that hard to make the site better every day and at the end i think people like uday and the vu guys andsoon sd be paid by US, the ones who profit from their efforts. Third: Why do i charge 0.20 for Glamour? If i run free tournaments my computer cannot handle them. If i get lots of calls i get booted and i cannot run more than 4 movies at once or i get stuck. So i need a better computer. Since the ONLY reason to do so is the ability to run tournaments for YOU i think some of you can help me to raise funds for it. Secondly i see the fee as a little profit for my efforts. I am an invalid (last stage of brest cancer) living mostly in bed so i have time to run good tournaments for you. My illness is very expensive and i do not see lots of possibilities to make money. Some i make tru writing and other i might make tru BBO. Anyhow i needed money to make my house compatable for my electric wheel chair that cost me 200 euro every month. I am not starving, in Holland we have insurance for if ill, so i get 80% of my salary being ill but u understand i need more. F.e. the computer has to wait. I have 3 studying kids and if possible i try to support them a little bit. Really, this is not meant to tell you i am a person to be sorry for. See me as a person that tries to live!!

there 3 problems i think 1. false claim, secondly the false claimer didnot make any excuse, 3rd he was accused by the complainer that he TOLD privatedly he knew he had the ace of trumps and the accusation of the complainer that the false claimer was cheating;) i add it to this post.. it might help:)

Further i thought the player who complained asked for punishment since the false claimer was gloating but a later remark made me thinking who needs a punishment here? Of course the false claimers had to answer properly in stead of saying: let us play, but the complainer went too far i think. So far i think i sd tell the complainer his behavior was bad and point out that he could have used the gloating. I also think other remarks of him were not ok but that might also be a language bug. That is why i would appreciate second opinion before going back to him. Today my neighbour came in while i was running Glamour. Well, all seemed ok, so we had a nice cup of coffee. Rounds switched and i saw i only needed to adjust one table. A player asked: Are you adjusting? Honest me: No Ten minutes later the partner of this player asked for adjustment so i decided it was time i took a look... 6h down... i filled in everything... ok? Ok! Run!! The player: Tx so very much dear, well done, u only adjusted board 6 and not 4. Oops: they were playing board 6... in 3d 2 cards played... Player: They looked funny when you adjusted!! I believe that... :blink:

Hi dear, In this case i would have watched xx-yy and as you did i would have looked up the boards. Often i ask another player to look at boards after a tournament. Some BBO-players are very experienced in this matter. Further i always would tell the whisperer to write to abuse and i write to abuse also. It takes only a little time. One sentence is enough. If the accusation is made in public the accuser gets a warning. Further i make notes on the cards of the involved players. So i would have done 5 things: 1. Tell the whisperer to write to abuse 2. Watch xx-yy 3. Ask someone to look into the boards 4. Make notes on the cards 5. Write to abuse Your poll didnt give the possibility to fill in more than one thing so i chose watch xx-yy. I always take such whisperers seriously but i dont think it is enough to only watch, we should collect such whisperers in one database so that is the reason i report to abuse.

I know some tournaments are not good and maybe i am oldfashioned since i think a td has to do certain stuff like telling the players before they start to play what are the rules… and i dont even mention here style... i really think we were all down... when i managed to enter bbo i saw only 200 members there... i cannot remember there were ever so few... and in a few minutes it recovered and all were back:) felt as an earhquake :lol:

For me the communication or rather the lack on communication it some of the most difficult parts of being TD. English is not my first language and sometimes i really find it difficult to be clear and sometimes i dont understand players... Here 3 stories of today... What if a player, being in last round at table 1, aks not to sub his partner and the opp ask to sub since they like to play for first place? Theoretically it is possible that for that player non play is without risk to lose first position.. (Reminder: A td can never give less than AV- on a started board and if less than 4 minutes left a board, in this case the last board - if a round has 2 boards, will not count if in imps...) Would u sub and if yes, when? And if not, what do you say to the opp?

I see, Ben. And what if it is the fault of the td? Today i subbed in a tournament and the situation was i got in the place of a player who was there. My partner counted time untill it was gone... When he started there were 4 minutes to go... the td didnot manage (?) to get the real disconnected player subbed so play was not possible. We got av=. Maybe this is a bad example, but it happened... I also see as td that players really bag me to come and watch the table when time is running out since most play faster if i am there.. and they want to avoid the av=. I agree about yr second point though. To give av+ wd hurt the scores... Isnot there any other solution possbile? Like let the board not count? Or do u think that wd not be ok either?
