"middle of play" is AFTER your first bid and BEFORE you played your last card (or last card from dummy when being declarer). Dummy can leave at any time as this does not interrupt the game. "can't join a table for x minutes" includes kibitzing, of course :) "How about if you have a jumpy mouse and you go to click the table button and accidently click the back button, and then try to rejoin the table immediately?" As long as you did not confirm "are you sure ..." all is fine.

I was assuming the software can distinguish between leaving and getting booted. I see no need to leave the table during play - dummy can of course leave anytime. Maybe a player who has left a table might be able to return to the same table/seat.
-
If a player leaves midhand, he should not be able to join another table for a certain amount of time.

How true!

Nice idea but I'm afraid that would become abused soon.

It depends on the soundcard, the driver, and the operating system. Using WinXP, I can hear both music and BBO sounds. Win98 does not deliver BBO sounds while running WinAmp.

3nt+1 declared by you - works fine here. - which operating system are you using? - which browser are you using?
-
My my hands works fine here - please provide a link to one of those hands that don't work with you.

Please have a look at the club suit. North seems to hold a master card. :D Furthermore, West cannot play the D2 twice (line 1).

Another one to try...

Hidden reply: Duck the first round of clubs, then play J of spades at soonest opportunity. -
The bans issued by yellows (emergency bans) will be lifted automatically after seven days unless ABUSE decides to shorten or extend the ban. Furthermore, if a player tries to log in using a banned account she will be informed how to contact abuse@ to clarify the case.

How to take into account the time needed for explanations?

Asking for Aces after Stayman sequence

Rebid diamonds - pard has denied hearts. -
See BBO for linux

As declarer, I'd be happy if I had the Ace of diamonds in that hand - as defender, I'd be happy to be able to win the trick if declarer had played the ace. :)

It's not accidential (I hope). I luckily managed to talk to one of the operator co-ordinators.

Please put the current table number in front of the tourney's name. The table number in the window title bar is cut off when the name of the tourney exceeds a certain number of characters.
-
When the table host (in MBC) is leaving his seat, the table description should be cleared. While editing the table description, no one should be able to sit or ask for permission to sit. Except for teaching tables, none of the kibitzers should be the table host.

BBO Makable Slam #07
ack_hh replied to inquiry's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Draw trumps, play all clubs, play all dias (discarding one spade), end in dummy. Play a spade, finessing the ten. If the ten holds the trick, you will lose only one spade trick; if the finesse fails, west is on the lead and has to play into your remaining AJ or give you a ruff & discard. BTW - what was lead? -
Automatic 2♠ - partner might not be able to reenter the auction without a fit.

I voted for "Log all chat", but all users must be clearly informed WHAT will be logged, HOW (and how long) it will be logged, and WHO will have access to the log files. All parties involved in a certain chat must be informed in case the chat is reviewed. Chat rooms and partnership bidding tables should remain private area.

Many people are not able to Cut&Paste text without modifying it - besides the fact that the software should provide some means to send some chat log towards BBO in an easy way - and how to determine the hash of some partial text? IMHO private chat must be encoded through a safe algorithm, and each local client must somehow provide a private key which has to be sent to abuse@ so that only chat which "fits" to the private key can be decoded.

The scrollwheel works fine here in most places (as do the cursor keys).

No - and the same applies to the list of "enemies". For good reasons
