  1. My idea: We have 24 HCP, opps have 16. East has passed on West's opening, so he is likely to have less than 6 HCP. East raised West's spade bid, so he might have some points though - looks like points are divided 11-5 or 12-4. I'd be interested to find out who has the ace of diamonds. West is likely to have KQ of spades and one red ace or both red aces and the king of spades. So, duck the first round of spades, forcing West to continue with something. If he continues with a spade, we will find out where the queen of spades is located. Win the next trick and play a heart. If East happens to have the ace of hearts, play him to have the queen of diamonds, inserting the jack in case he continues with a small diamond. Clubs should be no problem - West has 4 spades, at least 1 heart, and likely 5 diamonds - so clubs should break 3-2.
  2. Have you tried the latest version (4.4.0)?
  3. There seems to be a problem with downloading the new version from the BBO site. I have mirrored the update version 4.4.0 at the following address: update v4.4.0

    4.3.9

    - the "Big" option is always greyed out, no matter if I choose wide mode or normal mode or "Big Deal" - when switching between wide mode and normal mode (CTRL-W), the window's position is changed to be left aligned, the chat area becomes smaller, and the "restore"-button (upper right, middle button) is greyed out (but still works) - in the MBC table list the columns host, N, S, E, W are too small, names are truncated. IMHO the columns "kibitzers" and "score" should be reduced significantly so the players names can be displayed completely. A smaller font here might also help Regards Andreas
  6. http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=7789 : [..} "- (The big one) You will see a new button in the Play Bridge! area and on the menu that appears when you right click on your own name. This button says "Help me find a game!". Right now when you click it, nothing will happen. In a day or 2 the server will be ready to support this function. Then you will see something happen." [..]
  7. Quote from http://www.bridgebase.com/help/5/moviebutuse.html : Attaching a Movie to a Chat Message Provided you can see the MOVIE button [..] in the toolbar at the bottom of your BBO window, you can attach a bridge movie to a chat message. This is done in two steps. First you create the movie or load a previously saved movie (click the MOVIE button). Then you compose your chat message and in the chat dialog, click the Attach Bridge Movie checkbox. When you send the message (click Chat), the movie will be sent. When someone sends you a bridge movie, you will be asked if you want to view it. If you say yes, the Bridge Movie dialog will appear and you can use the Next and Previous buttons to view the play sequence. I just tried it - it worked.
  8. The more vugraphs you organize the more walk-the-dog contracts you will come across.
  9. I really like this idea. An additional advantage would be that specs who are watching in that mode would be available as subs (as long as the bidding has not finished).
  10. Assuming the BBO software is installed in C:\Bridge Base Online\ on a Windows 95/98/ME PC I wrote a small .reg file which should set the correct registry values to open BBO-lin files with NetBridgeVU.exe 1) download bbo1.reg from http://home.arcor.de/akaestner/bbo/bbo1.reg 2) right-click bbo1.reg 3) select "Merge" 4) confirm "... will be added to the registry" Hope that helps.
  11. I was host of a bidding practice table. One kibitz was watching. My p left, then I left --> kib became host (ok), but seat remained reserved for me.
  12. The file must be hilighted/selected (one left click) to make the shift-right-click sequence work.
  13. Will the following help? - table time-out: if no card is played and no bid is made at a table for, let's say, 30 minutes, close the table and log out the players and the kibitzers. - client time-out: display a "Are you still there?" dialog box after 30 minutes of inactivity. If the user does not reply within xx seconds, log out from BBO. Any mouse click, chat, changing rooms, etc. will restart the time-out counter. The time-out value might be variable, depending on the number of visitors logged in to BBO (higher load - shorter time-out). Separating the vugraph seems to be a good idea.

  15. Decent EMM/XMS- and DPMI-handlers together with programs which are aware of these programs can handle a lot more than 1 MB RAM. Sharing video RAM might work - depending on the mainboard chipset, the graphic adapter, the memory manager, and properly selected video modes.
  16. It would be nice if players get swept into a team game AFTER they have finished their hands in the MBC. Implementing this might be a first step and a good test for "mid-hand" detection. :D
  17. Please display the tourney's host/s name/s in the mouse-over info (list of tourneys)
  18. The following message "bla bla ..." could not be delivered due to lack of BB$. :P
  19. I doubt that there is someone taking note of the e-mail addresses in the players' profiles. Most likely one of the recipients' computers is infected, or it was pure coincidence. One should never open e-mails containing strange addresses, subjects, or attachments. An up to date virus scanner protects against these well known viruses.
  20. I would define "midhand" as "from the first bid up to the last card". I don't think that this is difficult to determine by the (client) software.
  21. The following would come in handy: - a user-defined drive/folder for the logged hands - a user-defined command string to open a web browser other than IE Both options could easily be implemented in the bbover.ini file I think. The following has been suggested by several users: - switching from invisible mode to visible mode (and vice versa) without logging off/on
  22. I like this frugal logo. Well done!
  23. Great idea, but e-mail address is a "no no" of course. Another suggestion: ICQ name/number would come in handy, in the profile as well as in the directory.
