Thanks guys, i'v already find an excelent partner to play this system with. you can find the a copy of the system at daniel's system page.
-
its a matter of hand evaluation not much of a system, norse hand as a bad high card location, it worth slam only vs stronger then minimum 2d, the question is if the south can be said to be stronger then minimum. on the bidding atleast the 4sp bid showed some extra so i agree with norses call for slam. if south have extra then its just unlucky.
-
I open my eyes and bid 3nt :D Its the practicle contract, it can be good even when p got 4 hearts, if the hearts dont break.
-
probebly not best for this hand, but we (using AMBRA) bid 3c to ask for major, then 4d shows 5 dimond cards.
-
A perfect hand for Double.
-
2/1 always looked like a non ideal way of bidding to me since u put most of ur bids to show GF hand and leave so little to GI bid, this is why i think its a good idea to add something to the 2/1 GF bids, just like u did to the 2c bid here. same we do in AMBRA sys.

5 spades with (8)9-11(12) hcp no dimond stoper and no 4 card heart and probebly not a good club suit (not good for 3club bid). example hand would be KQxxx XXX XX KJ10
-
Double ofcourse, if the bidding went 2c 2d 4c 4d 5c i would have some asitatians and then double so at the 6 level its just ovious. my hand have a nice shape, but not that unbalanced for a 6 level competetive, and my high cards cant be more defensive, i got A in the long suit and KQ doublton.
-
I'll play the K of spade and then A of club and small club. west will take this , and no return make things hard for me (ill finesse heart ofcourse) a little danger can be if west overcalled with something like xxx kj10xxx xx kj then if he drops the K on the A of clubs and east win the second with the Q coing back with a club, ill need to ruff high and lose if it was a "trick" and east got 4 spades. but that wont happend in real life.

Yes, Mike's line is nice. But I guess I will have to respond to this. First, my line does NOT require west to have only two clubs to work, but it helps. For instance, my line always makes if ♦s are 3-3 or if EAST has doubleton Ten or King... regardless of the where the club KING is. Also, if EAST has four ♦ to the [King], he can't afford to put up the king on the second round, so I also make if WEST has Tx and if EAST has KTxx, I get a chance consider how to play ♥s as I can always fall back on a simple ♥ hook. Mike's line of leading pulling three rounds of trumps and leading the ♦J is nice due to the presenses of the ♦8 in dummy. But will you not have a pang of doubt when EAST wins the ♦K and returns a low ♣? Will you put all your eggs in the basket that EAST has the ♣K... even before testing for 3-3 ♦ or for the ♥J falling? You know, in a good game, some people are downright tricky when they make their opening leads against slams.. especially if the locaction of the ♣ honors are clear from the bidding. Ben good points. you maybe right, those things cant really be mesure, cause no one can say what r the chances of leading 10 of clubs when u got the K but not the 9.

My partners dont need a trump trick to leave 4h , they play with the Law of TT, leaving high level contracts doesnt have much to do with trump tricks. i know its hard to accept it, but this is one of the best improvments in the bridge world.
-
i think ur line is the best. ben's line is cool and complex, but on the 3-2 spade it depend on LHO having no more then 2 clubs while yours only depend on RHO to have the K of clubs. on the 4-1 spade break again i think urs is better since u didnt need the finnese. sometimes simpler is better.

I would bid 4sp 4nt and pass are very bad bids, u cant pass when u r so strong and u cant bid 4nt with this spade suit. double and 4sp are the options u got, the problem with double is that its a bit of laying to yourself, u want a takout double but the chances that p will take it out are really rare, p with 4 and even in case of 3 hearts and 4 spades will expect this to have 16-17 TT and should leave the double even with 4 spades (especially on this vul) therefore doubling wont be good and i better bid 4sp.
-
I agree with ben on the K of heart, its not a bad card after the 1h overcall. only later after the heart support it become p will not have more then 1 heart which make the king less importent for the offense. this mean that if we were on a forcing pass situation i would definetly double 4h, as it is not forcing (the way i play) i wouldnt double again.

I hope that you are not being robbed blind at the bridge table with such a passive attitude. In fact, I think double is a standout at matchpoints with this hand, although many will disagree with me. While you are correct that you are not strong for the bidding (very minimum in fact), you should realize that this is matchpoints after all. After your partner's 3♠ bid, you clearly own half the deck in hcp, if not more. Your partner overbid your "lawful level" by one when he bid 3♠, and with 4♠ he only did so because he had extra values. The total trick count is eight "trumps" for you in spades (partner didn't open 1♠) and probably 9 for them in ♥. IF they have bid a 20 HCP or less 4♥ that is making, your double will not cost you much at all, as you are not getting many matchpoints anyways. But if could actually have made 2 or 3♠. How good is +50 or +100 going to be for you? Not good at all. You simply must double with this hand on this auction imho, to protect your possible +140. Do my opponents make doubled contracts against me when I double like this? You bet they do. But they go down much more frequently than they make. And on this hand, I believe we surely can make 2♠ when partner bids 3♠ (we may or maybe not making 3). So I will back my gut feeling and double and lead a ♦. On this hand, I would actually double at imps too. Ben What i said is that the 3sp bid doesnt make my hand any better for diffense, on the contrary it makes it worst, in this sequence 3sp didnt show a stronger hand, it showed a more unbalanced hand. all the things u said about the tt might be true but doesnt p know about it too ? about active and passive trust me i double too much, and im not a passive player, but in bridge bmost players including me, like to make an influence doesnt like to pass, like to play the hand and make a diffenrent, i advice you to remember that you got a partner hold your instincts to act and give him the respect that he know something, and when i got a 7 count for a bid that show 8 count and nothing else why should i double ? yes i got some good diffence factors like the K of hearts and a balance hand, is that enough i think not. about the TT again with all those bids it wont suprise me that much to see p with a 6-5 or 5-5 minimum which is why i said that the 3sp not only doesnt increge me to double but discarage me to double.
-
Yes, when your partner freely bid 3♥ over 3♠, I would have surely doubled with your hand when they bid 4♥. If your partner is very offensive (♥void, great ♦ suit), he might very well pull this to 4♠ (but then he probably would have bid 4♠ immediately). A guess, is your partner has 4S-1H-and (54) in the minors (either way), or 6♦ and 3♣. At matchpoints, double should be your friend... if they aren't making a few doubled contracts against you, you are not doubling enough... :-) Ben Id wouldt take my p 3sp for anything that incarage my double, on the contrary, also with such a weak hand i wouldnt double if i already showed a better hand with the first D.

The other line of taking the A on first round and playing a club to the J, its hard to say exactly how good this line is cause there are some hiden precentages, like the fact that east didnt lead a club which give less chances to him having a single, the fact that with A of club east will probebly jump with means that when he doesnt we can play the J and unless west got exactly AQX of clubs we can make them good, another good thing is easty having more hearts then west meaning west is less likely to hold a single clubs (with east AXXX) and even if he does then he almost definetly holds atleast 3 spades which mean it doesnt hurt when he ruffs. is hold this better then playing on dimond being no worse then 4-2 ? probebly not another line is to ruff the first drow trumps first and only then play clubs to the A which could be right too cause of east overcall hcp
-
1. You shoud have an agrement with your p for how much hcp does negetive D shows, the normal (atleast for me is 8 hcp) so this one is too weak for it. 2. In cases of a close decision you should know what things inc u to D and what to pass. one importent idea here is your heart lengh (their suit) the shorter u are the less u should double, the idea is when u are long in hearts, your partner tends to be short, and therfore will have an easy double of his own even with a minimum hand, while when u are short ur p with 3-4 heart will need extras to reopen the bidding. in this exmple u got 3 time heart which isnt short and this also inc you to pass. so my answer is PASS.

U should play the Q on the first round, if it loses, then u have 1 club loser 1 heart , which means u cant offered to lose spade, and only 1 dimond, which should be done by playing spades for the drop (AK) when this work, ur best bet in dimond is to play for A doublton or singelton, u need to guess the oppent to hold this A and play dimond trough him. if the club queen wins u play the spades again AK, if they got QXX then ur a bit better then u where with a club loser, u can now clear the clubs and give the spade, this give u lil more chance cause they need to open heart or dimond, but u might go back to the same chances of A doublton dimond incase that didnt help u. if both spade and club behave then its cold cause u got only 1 heart lose and max two dimonds.

Preemptive raises: ill-defined or well-defined?

Preemptive raises: ill-defined or well-defined?
WGF_Flame replied to Chamaco's topic in Expert-Class Bridge
There is a price to everything, it doesnt mean its not right. Playing this kind of 1h:4h ur pass should be forcing if p got the strong balance hand, when he does he should double. -
I got this one wrong - To bid or not to bid
WGF_Flame replied to Cascade's topic in Interesting Bridge Hands
This is why i dont like imp, mp is a clear D. I will pass this hand, it tends to be 16 and sometimes 17 total trumps, with 5 card spade and short in dimond (or heart) partner would bid 3sp. my soft holdings in heart and dimond will make this better for defence (take about a trick off the TT). -
2sp , 3cl and also 3d are not game forcing or slam tries, they r game tries. about the 3d i prefer to play it forcing, even tho u can find hands where ud like to stop there, again im not looking for things like that.
-
P got to have 4 hearts, yes with that sample hand with KQx of hearts and 4 small spades u can find resson to play this naturally, but thats a bad idea, u need to have principles, defaults, not to check every sequence if u want a stable partnership. if p decided to skip 4 spades and show 3 hearts thats his problem, he cant then regret it. 3♠ imo is a cue bid not a natural bids, which show 4 hearts and some just abit extra. imo u can afford to make another try with 4♠.
